If you're considering an Audi RS6, then you already know what you're looking at. This is an extremely clean example and I encourage anyone to come see it for themselves. I will try to be as descriptive as possible, but please feel free to reach out to me for any specific questions/conversations.

First, here is what Car and Driver said about the RS6 when it was released in only 900 units to North America:

To use the new 450-hp Audi RS 6 as your grocery-getting daily driver is to use a broadsword as a butter knife. Looking very much like your average Audi A6, the RS 6 is glorious overkill.

Audi claims this 4050-pound all-wheel-drive sedan--third in a line of RS hot-rod Audis and the first to be sold in the U.S.--sprints to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. That's faster than the Mercedes E55 AMG by almost a second and fractionally faster than the manual-transmission BMW M5. The Audi easily reached an indicated 174 mph on the unlimited portion of the A92 autobahn near Munich. And so easily and with such supernatural stability does it maintain that speed that we found ourselves noodling with the navigation system while our co-driver bumped against the speed limiter. The limiter is set at 155 mph for all markets, so our test car had either a lazy limiter or an optimistic speedometer.

Either way, 155 mph or 174 mph, it doesn't really matter. Germany is the only place we know where one can fully exploit this car's greatest trick--providing great speed along with great composure.

What we have here is a grand German game of wonderfully irrational one-upmanship. Mercedes offers 349 horsepower in the E55 AMG? BMW has 394 horses in the M5? Then Audi will produce 450.

In the engine room of the RS is a hot version of the 4.2-liter, five-valve DOHC V-8 that powers the A8 and the upper-level A6. It has been worked over by Quattro GmbH. "Quattro" is usually a reference to Audi's all-wheel-drive system, but here it applies to a performance arm of the company that is to compete with the M group at BMW and Mercedes' AMG.

I purchased this car in April of 2012 with approximately 58,000 miles from someone who took meticulous care of the car which was used as a second car. I'm now selling because my commute has tripled to an average of 50 miles per day and I need a more fuel efficient vehicle. The following is a list of tasteful modifications and maintenance that have been done to the car. It really is perfect for someone who wants a perfectly sorted RS6.

WARRANTY: Fidelity Warranty Services - Platinum Warranty. This is the best company in the business and owned by JM Enterprises (Largest Lexus Dealer/Distributer on the eastern seaboard). This covers just about anything is an extremely valuable for a car like this. There is a $100 deductible and all repairs are done OEM. The warranty was purchased on 6/3/11 for 3 years or 36,000 miles. The expiration is 6/3/14 or 87,998 miles.

Upgrades (OVER $15,000 in upgrades):
Stasis Ohlins - These are the best coilovers you can buy and were installed about a year ago...incredible handling and ride quality. Fully adjustable for height/compression/rebound. I will say that there is a slight rub in the front because the car is lowered and the camber is set to reduce tire wear. I've also just installed control arms to better reduce
REVO Stage 2 - Precats gutted and coded out
MTM Torque Converter - This is HUGE if you have done research on this car. The transmission is the weak point in the vehicle and the torque converter significantly improves the long-term health of the transmission. I want to point out that this car has ALWAYS been respectfully driven and there are absolutely NO issues with the transmission. I'm happy to take the car for an PPI or put you in touch with the mechanic locally that has worked on the vehicle for me.
Milteck Catbach Exhaust System with Black Tips - This car sounds amazing with an incredible exhaust note. It is not at all loud with absolutely no drone.
Hotchkiss Front & Rear Sway Bars
Stratmosphere Diverter Valves
Apikol - Rear differential mount and differential carrier bushings
Laser Interceptor - Double Front and Rear
Hard Wired for Valentine 1 & Small Display - DOES NOT COME WITH THE V1

Sound System ($5,000 System):
The car's sound system has been totally upgraded - over $5,000 in cost.  The Pioneer Avic-Z140BH head unit is wired for GPS/Navigation and Bluetooth for handsfree cellphone capability which works better than most OEM systems (you can see the picture of the mic next to the Valentine One). Car is wired for iPod/iPhone but you can also wirelessly play music from your iPhone music library or Pandora!

Further, I have included a backup camera which the pictures show as well. The sound system includes 2 amps for amazing sound to drive the Focal front speakers and JL rear speakers and 2 10" JL subs in the trunk. The work was done at Audio Creations in Boca Raton...they are known for high-end custom work and fabrications on $100,000+ cars. The sub does NOT vibrate the car at all as it is a ported box through the arm rest...extremely tight sound and amazing clarity. At my price the system is included....Otherwise it is negotiable depending on price, etc.

Maintenance ($5,000 in recent work):
New Tires: Continental DSW with only 3,000 miles on them.
Refinished Rims: Wheels were refinished about 10,000 miles ago and are in near mint condition. Only 1 minor chip.
65K Maintenance: Included transmission fluid change, spark plugs, filters, etc.
Timing Belt Change: This is a $2,000 job and included timing belt, tensioner, roller, idler roller, camshaft seals, water pump, coolant, etc.
New Alternator: The work was done under Fidelity Warranty Services.
Brand new brake pads

Overall Condition:
The Avus Silver paint is nearly flawless for a car this age. It has always been garaged and waxed. Paint is "deep" and one of the best Audi silvers to option. There is a small scratch on the rear-left bumper with a picture attached. The leather is in great shape and extremely supple/soft. The pictures make the leather look tremendously worse than they really are. I was "worried" as I purchased this car sight-unseen, but was very happy with the condition of the leather in person. The pictures make the leather looked "cracked" but they are simply wrinkles because the leather is so supple. Overall the interior condition is great for a car this age...most Audis (VW) have issues with the "soft keys" and matte paint around the door grips, etc., and there is definitely some signs of wear on these. I can send close up pictures of anything that is requested. Again - the pictures of the interior actually make the car look worse than it is in person.

Which would you rather have, Audi's RS5 or Mercedes' C63 AMG 507?

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

If you're in the market for a German sports coupe with a naturally aspirated V8, run, don't walk, to your nearest dealer because they are going to be gone very soon. European fuel economy and emissions rules have conspired to force automakers into seeking forced-induction mills. Motor Trend personality Jonny Lieberman is hosting the retirement party in the latest Head 2 Head video, where he takes on the 2014 Audi RS5 and 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 to decide which is the ultimate Teutonic V8.
To make the decision harder, Lieberman challenges the duo on the first soaking wet roads that Southern California has seen in ages. It forces the coupes to confront some of the actual weather that the rest of the country encounters regularly and serves to even the playing field somewhat between the charismatic rear-drive Mercedes-Benz and the all-wheel drive Audi.
It really is the end of an era for these coupes. The next Audi RS4 is rumored to switch to a twin-turbo V6, and while Mercedes won't officially admit it, the next C-Class AMG will likely switch to a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. And we already know the next BMW M3/M4 will rely on a 425-horsepower, 3.0-liter inline-six. Let's enjoy these eight-cylinder German giants while we can, and scroll down to watch the video.

Tom Kristensen walks through a perfect lap of Le Mans in Forza 5

Wed, 11 Jun 2014

One of the best ways of learning a new track, aside from driving it, is to hear someone that's intimately familiar with it give you a good walkthrough. That's just what you'll get here, as the winningest driver in 24 Hours of Le Mans history, Tom Kristensen, walks you through the Circuit de la Sarthe's high-speed, 8.5-mile strip of pavement.
Kristensen is dubbed over scenes of drivers from a Forza Motorsport 5 contest lapping the track at the wheel of an Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro, adding a bit of visual sense to the Danish drivers description of the track.
With the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans kicking off this weekend, this is just the sort of video you'll want to watch to get you in the mood. Take a look below, and then let us know what you think in Comments.

Audi Quattro concept production hopes still alive, could be more radical

Sun, Nov 23 2014

Remember the gestation period of the Lexus LFA, the one that, in automotive time, took so long that its origins could have been carbon dated? We feel like it's deja vu all over again, as Yogi Berra would have said, this time featuring the Audi Quattro and Audi Sport Quattro. It was 2010 when our cameras first glimpsed the Audi Quattro Concept (pictured right) at the Paris Motor Show, and we tasted its turbocharged 2.5-liter, five-cylinder powerplant not long after. Last year we met the hybrid, 700-horsepower Audi Sport Quattro concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but we got no closer to finding out if there'd ever be a version we could buy. A report in Autocar keeps the flame of hope burning, quoting Audi design chief Marc Lichte at the LA Auto Show saying, "We are working on Quattro, it is still alive." Lichte went on to say, however, that the next imagining is "more extreme" than those we've seen, and, "There will be surprises." Those words alone are a surprise. The last we heard about the Quattro revival was Audi boss Ulrich Hackenberg saying he wanted a more accessible homage to the original, and we don't know how "more extreme" jives with that. Seeing that Audi is serious about the idea, at least, we shouldn't have to wait long to find out. Just don't get your hopes up about its affordability yet.
