2013 Audi Q5 Hybrid Prestige Sport Utility 4-door on 2040-cars
Tyler, Texas, United States
More details at: lavetalaahlheim@ukhair.net .
The 2013 Audi Q5 features a 245-horsepower @4300rpm, 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 354 torque@1500rpm.
It features an 8-speed Titronic automatic transmission and features Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system, which
sends about 60 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels under most driving conditions; on slippery surfaces or
for better stability, the system will reapportion torque as needed. The 2.0L also helps to power the new hybrid
model, and is paired with an electric motor. Together, the system is capable of an EPA-estimated 24 mpg city and 30
mpg highway. With car-like underpinnings adapted in part from the Audi A4 sport sedan, the Q5 drives and handles
much like that car, despite its relatively tall cabin.
The Q5 is quite compact on the outside--it's about as easy to park as a compact sedan--yet there's a lot of
passenger space within. Nice, supportive front seats afford a great view out, with a center console that has an
adjustable armrest up top, while there's a surprising amount of legroom in back. The back seats in the Q5 slide
fore and aft to balance the amount of cargo space and legroom, while the seat backs recline; the seats also fold
forward to allow a large cargo space or, when up, there's still a pass-through for long objects. The Q5's long
wheelbase, in addition to helping maximize passenger space, also helps improve ride quality. This Audi Q5 offers a
long list of safety features that includes electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes and hill descent control,
with a special off-road mode for the electronics that allows a little more slip. The stability control system in
the Q5 will recognize when the roof rack is loaded and adjust accordingly

Audi builds 5-millionth vehicle with Quattro
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Quattro, the trademark name Audi has put on its all-wheel-drive system engineered for passenger vehicles, recently celebrated its five-millionth installation. The driveline has been offered in more than 140 different vehicles since its introduction more than three decades ago.
The all-wheel-drive technology made its world debut at the 1980 International Geneva Motor Show, beneath the floorpan of the Quattro Coupé, a low-volume two-door. It didn't take consumers long to embrace Audi's innovative approach. While most four-wheel-drive systems at that time utilized heavy transfer cases or second cardan shafts, Quattro was virtually tension-free, light, compact and efficient. Most importantly, enthusiasts found it was especially suitable for sports cars.
Today, the automaker offers Quattro on its full line of passenger vehicles and it is unquestionably successful (the technology enjoyed a 43 percent take rate in 2012). On models with transverse-mounted engines (A3 and TT), Audi uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch with hydraulic actuator. Under normal conditions, the clutch sends power almost exclusively to the front wheels (if wheel slippage occurs, up to 100 percent of the torque may be sent to the rear). Vehicles with transverse-mounted engines (A4, A5, Q5, etc...) use a self-locking center differential sending 40 percent of the engine torque to the front axle and 60 percent to the rear under normal conditions (it is able to send the majority of the power to the axle with better traction when needed). The highest-performing Quattro systems use torque vectoring to further improve cornering grip and speeds.
Audi Sport sets up new shop in Neuburg
Thu, 04 Sep 2014Racing fans may know Audi best for its Le Mans team that's positively dominated the endurance racing scene. But as formidable as its Le Mans program is, that's only one of the racing disciplines in which Audi competes. It also competes in the full FIA World Endurance Championship, as well as Germany's popular DTM touring car series and supports customer teams in GT racing series around the world. And now the competition division is getting a new headquarters.
Audi Sport has until now been based in an old supermarket near to the company's head offices in Ingolstadt, but is now moving into a brand new, state-of-the-art facility 12 miles to the west in nearby Neuburg. The result of some 20 years of planning and two years of construction, the complex covers 116 acres of land in Neuburg-Heinrichsheim and will house engineers, technicians and other staff who deal with the R18 E-Tron Quattro, the RS5 DTM and R8 LMS Ultra that compete the world over.
The facility was officially opened this past Saturday with participation from top Audi brass and local government officials and included demonstrations from all three of those racecars around the on-site test track. The works team has begun moving in and the customer racing department will move into its new Motorsport Competence Center in the first half of 2015.
Audi CEO Rupert Stadler: Ducati is not for sale
Sat, Jun 18 2016"Ducati is not for sale." Those words, attributed to Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, are about as clear and definitive as can be, and they reiterate a previous statement about the potential sale of the premium Italian motorcycle brand that was made in March of this year. "[Ducati and Lamborghini] belong to Audi and, together with us, have an excellent future," said Stadler. Thing is, Audi, as well-off and established as it may be, still falls under the Volkswagen umbrella. And, as you're surely aware, things haven't exactly been smooth sailing for the VW Group over the last several months. The German automaker has squirreled away billions of dollars in anticipation of the legal fallout that's sure to come from the falsification of vehicle emissions data, and that's going to leave the company strapped for cash. All of that bad news led to speculation that VW could sell off some of its non-core businesses. What of the future of the Scania and Man heavy truck brands? Those don't currently appear to be on the auction block, either. VW's continued involvement in the HD truck segment was announced as part of the brand's TOGETHER - Strategy 2025 plan, in which Volkswagen outlined plans to push further into vehicle electrification and vehicle autonomy.
