2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro
This is an extremely well maintained 2006 Audi A6, with just over 111,000 miles. It is equipped with the naturally aspirated, 3.2 Liter V6 engine, with automatic (tiptronic) transmission. Oyster Grey with charcoal leather seats, it is fully loaded with power windows, central locking, power seats with 3 way memory, dual zone climate control, electric sun/moon roof and AM/FM Radio with 6 disc CD Changer. It also has the legendary Audi safety features with dual air bags, as well Quattro All Wheel Drive. I have owned the car for three years, having bought it with 67,000 miles.
Vehicle Condition: This Audi is a great car in excellent condition, given its age and mileage. I will try to give an honest and comprehensive description but it is a used vehicle and is by no means perfect.
Mechanical: The car runs and shifts extremely well. This has been my daily driver for the last three years and has proved to be extremely comfortable, safe and reliable. The oil has been changed regularly, and will be changed again for the new owner. There is no timing belt on this car, but there are timing chains and tensioners which were replaced at 97,000 miles.
The A/C Compressor and drier was replaced this summer, and works excellently, as it should.
Interior: The seats are clean and have no rips or tears. The Dashboard, roof lining and carpets are also all clean and smoke free. All electronics work as they should, including the seat heaters. There is one small stone chip in the windshield, but all glass is in good condition otherwise. There is some minor discoloration of the rear speaker shelf, and the soft touch buttons do show the wear typical of these cars, unfortunately.
Exterior: The exterior paint shines brilliantly. The car was repainted two years ago to repair some dents caused by a tree branch that broke off in a storm. Overall I would rate the exterior to be 9 out of 10. There are of course the usual scratches that are typical for a vehicle this age.
The car has brand new adjustable sport suspension, installed in December, and tires are 255/35-19 Continental ContiSport 3’s and are mounted on 19” matte silver VMR 702 rims. All are relatively new having been installed in November last year and have about 4,000 miles of use.
The car has not been in any major accidents, but I was told that he previous owner had been involved in a minor fender bender in which the driver’s door was damaged and repaired.
Terms of Sale: This is a 7 day auction, but I reserve the right to end the auction early due to local sale. $500.00 non–refundable deposit due immediately at auction’s end, with balance payable within 3 days of auction’s end. Winning bidder will be responsible for all shipping costs. I will deliver the car free within a 50 mile radius of zip code 20904. This car is being offered for sale AS-IS, and there is NO WARRANTY, expressed or implied. While I have tried to describe the condition of the vehicle as accurately as possible, please bear in mind that this is a used car with relatively high mileage, and as such may have normal wear and tear that I have missed in my description.
Thanks for bidding, and Good Luck! |

Ferdinand Piech (1937-2019): The man who made VW global
Tue, Aug 27 2019Towering among his peers, a giant of the auto industry died Sunday night in Rosenheim/Upper Bavaria, Germany. Ferdinand Piech, a grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who conceived the original Volkswagen in the 1930s, was the most polarizing automotive executive of our times. And one who brought automotive technology further than anyone else. Ferdinand Porsche had a son, Ferdinand (called "Ferry"), and a daughter, Louise, who married the Viennese lawyer Anton Piech. They gave birth to Ferdinand Piech, and his proximity to two Alfa Romeo sports cars — Porsche had done some work for the Italians — and the "Berlin-Rome-Berlin" race car, developed by Porsche himself, gave birth to Piech's interest in cars. After his teachers in Salzburg told his mother he was "too stupid" to attend school there, Piech, who was open about his dyslexia, was sent to a boarding school in Switzerland. He subsequently moved on to Porsche, where he fixed issues with the 904 race car and did major work on the 911. But his greatest project was the Le Mans-winning 917 race car, developed at breathtaking financial cost. It annihilated the competition, but the family had had enough: Amid growing tension among the four cousins working at Porsche and Piech's uncle Ferry, the family decided to pull every family member, except for Ferry, out of their management positions. Piech started his own consultancy business, where he designed the famous five-cylinder diesel for Mercedes-Benz, but quickly moved on to Audi, first as an engineer and then as CEO, where he set out to transform the dull brand into a technology leader. Piech killed the Wankel engine and hammered out a number of ambitious and sophisticated technologies. Among them: The five-cylinder gasoline engine; Quattro all-wheel drive and Audi's fantastic rally successes; and turbocharging, developed with Fritz Indra, whom Piech recruited from Alpina. The Audi 100/200/5000 became the world's fastest production sedan, thanks to their superior aerodynamics. Piech also launched zinc-coated bodies for longevity — and gave diesel technology a decisive boost with the advent of the fast and ultra-efficient TDI engines. Less known: Piech also decided to put larger gas tanks into cars. Customers loved it. Piech's first-generation Audi V8 was met with derision by competitors; it was too obviously based on the 200/5000.
Audi Q3 Camping Tent is der neue Aztek
Wed, 28 May 2014The annual Wörthersee festival is much more than a land of ridiculous one-off concepts for fans of the Volkswagen Group to ogle over. Brands like Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and SEAT actually showoff some real stuff, including accessories for existing vehicles.
While we don't normally cover this (are you really interested in new floormat designs for a Skoda Rapid?), one item on this year's list caught our eye. It's for the Audi Q3, the compact crossover from the Quattro people, and well, it's something we've seen before.
Yes, that's a tent. Much like the Pontiac Aztek before it, Audi debuted a tent kit for the Q3. Now, it's not exactly like the detestable Pontiac. This tent can easily be attached and separated from the car, and it's even rated for wind speeds of up to 43 miles per hour (but not while driving, we'd guess). According to Audi, the inflatable tent can be erected in a mere seven minutes (unlike most tents, which require five hours, seven people and a degree in mechanical engineering).
Le Mans champion Allan McNish retires from LMP1 racing
Tue, 17 Dec 2013Having won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times, the American Le Mans Series title another three times and, most recently, the FIA World Endurance Championship, Allan McNish doesn't have much left to prove. Which is why he's retiring, ending this stage of his 33-year driving career on a high note.
In a statement just released by McNish himself and his team at Audi, the Scotsman said "I've had a fantastically successful time with Audi and feel it's the right time to step back from Le Mans sports-prototype racing and to look at other opportunities."
Just what those other opportunities might be is another matter. He's raced in DTM, Formula One and the International Formula 3000 series, where he won two races in 1990. McNish, 44, is also part of the BBC Radio's F1 commentary team, serves as president of the Scottish Motor Racing Club and is often called upon by the FIA to act as a grand prix race steward. Audi says he'll continue to be part of the team, just not in the driver's seat. Given his success in endurance racing, he's surely got a wide variety of opportunities to pursue, and we're looking forward to seeing where he lands.
