2002 Audi TT 225 HP K04 turbo Silver/Black 118k miles
Bose HID Lights Heated seats Headlamp washers Homelink remote operation I bought the car in May 2013 and have since added these enhancements: APR Stage 2 software 42 Draft Designs intake 42 Draft Designs turboback full exhaust system ST Coilover suspension HR Anti-Sway bars Forge Diverter valve ECS Tuning Performance ultimate timing belt kit with water pump and lightweight aluminum pulleys Dogbone motor mount inserts Iridium spark plugs HPS performance composite brake pads Upgraded rotors New front CV Axles (both sides) 18" TTRS replica wheels Michelin Pilot Sport tires Kenwood head unit with SAT, HD Radio, Pandora, Bluetooth, Hands free mic Audi TT Rubber Sport mats LED Running lights RS style mesh grill Vinyl eyelids (easily removable if you don't like them) All bulbs replaced with Phillips HID or appropriate upgraded bulbs. Oil Changes every 5k miles at VW or Audi dealership. As you can see I put a lot of money into this car ($7k+) It handles like a computer mouse, wherever you point it, it goes. It feels unreal through twisty roads. The power is also impressive. Audi rates these at 0-60 in 6.0 seconds in stock form. With all of the power enhancements, it is much faster than that. The exhaust has a nice low tone, and the intake sounds like a jet engine when the RPMs are above 3k. The car has never been tracked, but with a 0-60 GPS app, I have gotten 5.0 seconds 0-60 on a freeway ramp. I'm sure in better conditions and better driver the car can do better. I'm averaging over 29 MPG with the A/C on full blast here in AZ. The car comes with: 5 keys (4 remotes and 1 valet) Manual Audi OEM Sport mats Audi OEM carpet mats Cargo net Extra OEM parts (head unit, air intake, bulbs, etc.) The condition of the car is far above average. It is not perfect, as one would expect from a car of this year, but it is really in excellent shape, cosmetically, and mechanically. There are some rock chips in the front bumper, and a few tiny scuffs here and there. The leather inside is still very soft and not worn or ripped. The passenger seat has a small area where water spilled and then dried and left a spot. Otherwise, it is hard to find any defects. People stop me to comment on the car at least once a week, most think it is a 2012 or newer and are shocked when I tell them the year. No trades, please be serious and have your funding already in place. IIHS bestows 2015 Audi A3 with Top Safety Pick+ [w/video]
Wed, 26 Mar 2014There's some good news for Audi today, as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has named the all-new A3 one of its Top Safety Pick+, the institute's highest award for safety.
While there are no shortage of cars that can handle the standard IIHS trial, the tough small overlap test needed to earn TSP+ has flummoxed more than a few vehicles from prestigious, safety minded manufacturers. In the A3's case, though, it handled the small-overlap tests well.
According to the IIHS, there wasn't much intrusion into the cabin from the impact, which simulates a 40-mile-per-hour impact on 25 percent of a car's front end. The crash test dummy was held in place, with just a low risk of injuries. You can view the crash test video below, as well as read a brief press release from the IIHS.
Audi Airomorph is a sleek shape-shifting senior thesis
Tue, 12 Aug 2014Eric Kim just graduated from the from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, at the end of the spring 2014 semester, and for his senior thesis project he came up with this futuristic Audi endurance racer called the Airomorph. He even got some input Audi designer Kris Vancoppenolle.
The Airomorph imagines a future Audi racer for Le Mans that features adjusting fabric panels to fine-tune the car's aerodynamics as it laps the course - a technology inspired by catamaran racing. "I started from scratch and had the freedom to deliver and execute a white space design for the future," said Kim to Autoblog via email. It's also somewhat similar to the idea behind BMW Gina concept, although Kim says that wasn't an inspiration for his design. The body here is made from a single piece of a silver, expansion-resistant material stretched over a frame underneath. The fabric anchors at the wheels, front and rear section with movable cables, and hydraulic actuators pull the wires to shift the aero as needed.
The actual shape echoes Audi endurance racers from the past and present. In profile, you can easily see the current R18 with its arcing cockpit and fin down the rear. Of course, that's interpreted through a little bit of Blade Runner with the covered wheels sticking out from the body. The front shows the rectangular shapes from the earlier R15. There doesn't appear to be any way to actually see out of the vehicle, though.
2015 Audi A3 Sportback E-Tron
Wed, 18 Dec 2013A little more than a year ago, I drove an Audi A3 E-Tron prototype - an early concept electric vehicle built on the outgoing second-generation A3 platform. While I was impressed with the technology, its 3,800-pound weight, 10-second 0-60 time and 90-mile range will likely put it only mid-pack, at best, among its future competitive set. But Audi promised bigger and better things would come.
I didn't have to wait long. Immediately following the Los Angeles Auto Show, Audi asked me come drive its all-new successor built on the company's third-generation A3 chassis. Compared to last year's model, the new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) boasts a lighter curb weight, quicker acceleration and six times the range. Calling it improved is an understatement. Best of all, it's heading to production.
Technically speaking, the 2015 Audi A3 Sportback E-Tron is a parallel hybrid, meaning its electric motor is sandwiched between a combustion engine and an automatic transmission - either, or both, is capable of powering the front wheels. The gasoline-powered engine is a direct-injected and turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder, rated at 150 horsepower. The transmission is a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A 75-kW electric motor sits between the two. Water is used to cool the gasoline engine, the electric motor and the battery pack - there are three independent closed loops.
