1995 Audi S6 Avant on 2040-cars
Arlington, Virginia, United States
|
I am selling my 1995 Audi S6 Avant. If you know anything about the '95 S6 Avant you know there are less than 300 of these on the road in the US currently. I bought it with the intention of fixing it up it but I have the opportunity to buy one of my dream cars so I have to sell the S6 to raise money. I will try to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible.
1995 Audi S6 Avant, black on gray. 153821 miles. 5 speed manual, power seats, windows, mirrors, door locks, etc. The good: Rebuilt front suspension, new Bilstein shocks, lower control arms, upper strut mounts, strut bearings, left outer tie rod end and sway bar bushings. Upgraded igniton system to Apikol coil conversion, car runs well and pulls hard, has MTM stage 1 chip. Front brake pads are pretty new, have lots of life left on them A/C and heat work great, I just replaced the blend door actuator. Clutch has plenty of life, transmission shifts smoothly. Replaced transmission mounts, front axles have been rebuilt recently (have receipts from previous owner on axles) Cylinder head was replaced with a used head with 70k miles on it, have receipts for this too. Locking rear differential is working. Interior is in pretty good shape (minus a sagging headliner) drivers seat has 2 small holes but no rips or tears in bolster. Passenger near perfect No real cracks to speak of either. I have used leatherique on the seats since I've owned it and they are pretty supple now. HID conversion, works great with stock projectors. Bose stereo works and sounds great, surprisingly good for a car of this vintage. Comes with 2 sets of wheels, original 16" Avus wheels and the 18" VW wheels pictured on the car. The VW wheels are a bit bent and the Avus wheels are straight but with no tires. I can include a set of used but good tires on the stock wheels if you wish. Power windows and mirrors work, heated front and rear seats work with the exception of the drivers seat. Have flushed the brake and clutch systems since I've owned it as well as the cooling system. Engine is strong and the turbo makes a lot of boost, its really a blast to drive, especially in its current condition, its quite a sleeper. I get about 18mpg driving it moderately in some stop and go traffic, so its even pretty efficient for what it is. The Not So Good: Obviously, it needs a paint job, but there is no rust on the vehicle so there is that as a plus. Lower door trim pieces need replacing, parts can be had for about $50 here on ebay. Drivers heated seat and power seat does not work. Has 4 different memory settings that work and cover a wide range of seating positions, so I have been able to find a comfortable seating position without the side control working. I will try to resolve this issue before the vehicle is sold. The input shaft seal is leaking on the transmission, I have the part just have not had a chance to install it yet. I can install it if you'd like for a nominal fee, I also have the rear main seal I was going to do at the same time, not sure if it's leaking too, but I like to cover all bases. The leak isn't terrible, I checked the fluid level and fluid came out of the fill plug after about 3oz of fluid was added, so it's not too severe, no clutch slippage. As stated above the headliner is sagging and could use re-gluing. Front bumper is damaged, I am going to try and fix it best I can before the sale, one of the supports is broken behind where the lower grille sits (center and left side grilles are needed as they are broken, can be had here on ebay for not much money at all) I will try to fabricate some sort of bracket to secure it. Right rear caliper was seized when I got the car, I have since freed it but the pads need to be changed in the rears due to uneven wear. I can include an OEM pad set if wanted. Overall the car is in pretty good mechanical shape, but could some cosmetic restoration. I would really love to keep this as a project car, but it needs to go so I can take advantage of this opportunity to buy the car I've wanted for while. As you can see the title says it exceeds mechanical limits on the odometer. This box was checked by mistake by the previous owner... The odometer is digital and as you can see from the history report, the mileage is all in order, not sure why he didn't fix this before he titled it. I've tried to describe it as accurately as possible, I'm sure I'm forgetting something so please don't hesitate to email me with questions, offers, setup a test drive, anything. Make me a good enough offer and I will end the auction early as I need it gone fast. If you meet my buy it now price I will fix the input shaft seal leak, throw some tires on the stock wheels and include a set of 18 inch Avus wheels (from a 2002 S6) with good Michelin PS2s for free. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! |

Audi updates A3 with Virtual Cockpit, more goodies
Wed, Apr 6 2016Audi has announced a series of updates to the A3 family. And though we're still waiting for confirmation on its arrival here in North America following its introduction back in Europe next month, the revisions bode well for Ingolstadt's baby. Chief among the enhancements for the latest A3 is the inclusion, as promised, of the company's Virtual Cockpit infotainment system. One of our finalists for 2016 Tech of the Year, the Virtual Cockpit moves many of the controls and menus you'd expect to find in the center console display into the instrument cluster to make them easier for the driver to navigate (albeit at the expense of a co-pilot's assistance). Audi also used the occasion to install some of its latest driver assistance systems, including active lane assist, pedestrian protection, and available traffic jam assist that helps the vehicle crawl along in bumper-to-bumper conditions. The revised A3 also features new front and rear fascias, incorporating a sharper grille and new head- and taillights, with available Matrix LED units up front. Globally speaking, Audi is offering the updated model with six different engines – three gasoline and three diesel – including a 1.0-liter inline-three for the first time. There's the hybrid E-Tron model as well, and the flex-fuel G-Tron model that can run on natural gas. More enticing though is the new S3, which benefits from a ten-horsepower boost to produce a more substantial 310 hp and as much as 295 pound-feet of torque. With sedan, convertible, and three- and five-door hatchback bodystyles, that makes for a lot of combinations, though not all engines will be offered in all forms. Watch this space for word on US availability. In the meantime, you can scope out all the details on the various variants in the press release below and the high-resolution images in the exhaustive gallery above. Audi bringing TT Clubsport Turbo concept to Worthersee
Fri, May 8 2015Is the world ready for an Audi TT with 600 horsepower? Well it had better be, because that's exactly what Ingolstadt has in store for this year's GTI-Treffen at Worthersee, Austria. Billed as a "technology concept," this TT show car packs a 2.5-liter inline-five with two electric turbochargers. Audi is developing electric turbos for its diesel engines, but has found a performance application here in a gasoline engine. The result is a whopping 600 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, driving all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Weighing in at 3,078 pounds and with those electric turbos spooling up quick, it's said to reach 62 in 3.6 seconds en route to a top speed of over 192 miles per hour. In a TT. The turbos are powered by a 48-volt electrical system, juiced by a compact lithium-ion battery in the trunk that can store regenerated power. It's also got a coilover suspension and electric jack to get over obstacles like curbs and speed bumps. The whole thing rides on 20-inch alloys with a two-tone finish, with carbon-ceramic discs to keep it all in check, and as you can see, a rather aggressive-looking widebody aero kit. All of which makes for a rather stunning concept, even if its encroachment on the R8 means it will likely never see production. Related Video: Ingolstadt/Reifnitz, 2015-05-08 Tremendous thrust right from the start: the Audi TT clubsport turbo technology concept car - Premiere at Worthersee: show car has 2.5 TFSI and electric biturbo - 441 kW (600 hp) and 650 Nm (479.4 lb-ft), 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.6 seconds - Development chief Prof. Dr. Hackenberg: "Technology close to production readiness" Wide add-on parts, a powerful rear wing and a power output of 441 kW (600 hp) – the Audi TT clubsport turbo impresses with its power and design. From May 13 to 16, Audi will be showing its technology concept car on the Worthersee Tour in the Austrian town of Reifnitz. The inspiration for the show car came from the successful Audi 90 IMSA GTO of the late 1980s. A new technology is making its debut under the hood. The car's electric biturbo adds even more dynamism to the driving experience with its spontaneous response. "The electric biturbo signifies a new dimension in driving enjoyment; it boosts sprinting ability and torque and enables high peak power," explains Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi Board Member for Technical Development. "In our TDI engines, we are close to production readiness with this technology.
A luxury crossover for people who like to drive | 2018 Audi Q5 First Drive
Fri, Oct 7 20161.6 million. That's how many Q5s Audi has sold since the model's 2008 debut, making the agreeable but stylistically neutral sport-ute the best-selling premium SUV on the planet. One in four Audis sold is a Q5, which is a big part of why the German carmaker made significant improvements intended to ensure the 2018 Audi Q5 is another success story. For starters, the Q5 has swollen in size. Not by much – we're talking 1.3 inches in length, half an inch in wheelbase, and incrementally more height – but enough to boost rear legroom by 0.39 inch and add 0.31 inch to rear headroom. If you're worried that curb weight has bloated in direct proportion to the larger footprint, fear not: The 2018 model is actually up to 198 pounds lighter than the model it replaces, thanks to a carefully modulated blend of high tensile steels and aluminum in the chassis, and incremental weight savings throughout. Two turbocharged engines are available: the Q5's 2.0-liter TFSI engine producing 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque (doing the 0-to-62-mph sprint in 6.4 seconds), and the SQ5's 3.0-liter TFSI mill that turns 354 hp and 369 lb-ft (capable of whisking it to 62 mph in 5.2 seconds). The 2.0-liter meets a new seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission, while the beefier 3.0-liter gets a conventional eight-speed torque-converter-equipped gearbox to handle the higher torque. Audi's new Quattro ultra setup (already seen in the A4 and Q7) offers fully variable torque distribution that helps achieve 20/27 mpg with the 2.0-liter and 18/26 mpg for the 3.0-liter. The system can de-couple the rear axle via an electronic clutch, which improves fuel economy; with 100 percent of torque directed to the front wheels during straight-line driving, the parasitic losses of running power needlessly through the rear differential are avoided, while a second clutch controls front/rear torque distribution. Audi says the ultra setup works proactively, not reactively, using torque vectoring to distribute power and anticipating changes in vehicle dynamics 500 milliseconds before the torque is redistributed. While there are numerous tech updates under the skin, the body itself is very familiar. In person, the Q5's looks are tweaked ever-so-slightly thanks primarily to a curvier, crisper character line that is so sharp, it casts its own shadow under certain lighting conditions. Inside, a Q7-like upgrade gives the cabin a more sophisticated feel.
