Buying a house so my R8 needs to go ASAP! After owning an Elise, and a Gallardo I opted for the R8 V8 for my next supercar. I couldn't be a happier owner! Compared to the Lamborghini and Ferrari the R8 V8 is affordable and comfortable as a daily driver. The magnetic suspension provides for a very smooth ride over rough pavement, and stiff suspension when you hit the canyons. The original exhaust was fairly quiet and I was looking for something with more of a growl so I upgraded to the GMG WC-R8 GT Exhaust ($6,600 installed) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQI94ZJxwuQ&feature=share&list=UUWrdZtbw7PP16Vt1YHZk9rg The exhaust completely changed the attitude of the car and is sure to make you smile the entire drive. The R-Tronic transmission shifts firm with no clutch issues, tires have 85% tread remaining, engine is a reliable beast with around 440hp. I've driven it from California to Colorado a few times and have nothing but great things to say about owning it. This is a supercar you can drive to the grocery store (I did) and then out to a nice dinner. Audi scores 100th LMP win
Tue, 24 Sep 2013Loïc Duval, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish took the No. 2 Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro to victory at this weekend's Six Hours of Austin at the Circuit of the Americas, marking the 12th victory for the R18 body and the 100th LMP overall victory for Audi since 2000. The milestone victory also saw a second R18, driven by Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer, take third place.
Audi's LMP boss, Chris Reinke pointed out the poignancy of snagging the brand's 100th victory in the US, saying, "For Audi, it's a very special result because it was the 100th victory in LMP racing. We celebrated the first victory int he USA as well, in 2000. What could be sweeter than achieving this milestone here?" It wasn't all easy going, though, as the team was racing at COTA for the first time, and the No. 1 car had more than a few difficulties.
This victory marked the 12th for the R18 since it started racing in 2011. For comparison, the R15 TDI only managed three victories between 2009 and 2011, and the R10 TDI took 22 wins between 2006 and 2008. Those cars are overshadowed by the original Audi R8 racecar, which won 63 races between 2000 and 2006. Take a look below for the full press release from Audi, and additional quotes from team members.

BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013
Thu, 11 Jul 2013When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.
