Audi S1 rally car races its RC counterpart

Veteran racer Mattias Ekstrom campaigns the meanest looking Audi S1 on the block in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. With a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out a claimed 600 horsepower and all-wheel drive, this little hatch can reportedly hit 60 miles per hour in a wickedly quick 1.9 seconds. While those specs are mighty impressive, they don't really matter too much for Ekstrom's latest race in the S1 against a pint-sized doppelganger in the form of an RC replica of the rallycross machine around a warehouse. Despite, the massive gulf in size and power, the two Audis appear fairly evenly matched. The RC version can't quite match the real one in outright speed but can go under obstacles that Ekstrom's S1 is forced to drive around. Audi claims World Endurance Championship at Fuji

It's been a successful racing season for Audi so far this year. After claiming the drivers' title in the DTM series, the German automaker has successfully defended both its titles in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The decision came after heavy rain ended the 6 Hours of Fuji after only 16 laps, virtually the entire race having been run behind the safety car. Although Alexander Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima won the race for Toyota - the Japanese automaker's first this season - the second-place finish achieved by Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Loïc Duval propelled Audi Sport Team Joest out of its challengers' reach.
While the actual drivers' title still remains in contention, the battle now comes down exclusively to the two leading Audi trios: McNish, Kristensen and Duval hold the lead with 147 points ahead of André Lotterer, Marcel Fässler and Benoît Tréluyer, who hold 106.25 points in the standings. Either way, Audi will be awarded both the drivers' and manufacturers' titles in the series with two races still to go in Shanghai and Bahrain.

Honda, Audi sweep European tin-top championships

Despite his win at the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend, Sebastian Vettel still has another race or two to go before he can claim his fourth consecutive World Championship in Formula 1. Back in Europe, however, this weekend saw several championship titles decided in a variety of tin-top racing series.
In the British Touring Car Championship, Gordon Shedden won the final round at Brands Hatch this weekend, but that wasn't enough to defend his title. Instead, the ultimate glory went to Andrew Jordan, also driving a Honda Civic, coming in ninth place to take a seven-point victory over Shedden in the final standings. Little wonder then that Honda took the constructors' championship and the Honda Yuasa Racing team took the teams' title. Four-time BTCC champion and Fifth Gear co-host Jason Plato, now driving for MG, landed third in the standings.
While Honda dominated the British championship, it was Audi that reigned supreme in mainland Europe. In the Superstars International Series - Italy's touring-car championship - Gianni Morbidelli drove the Audi RS5 to his fifth title, finishing the season's final race in a calculated third place behind the BMW racecars of Giovanni Berton and Max Mugelli. It's the second consecutive win for the RS5 in the Superstars series (Johan Kristoffersson won the title last year), and the second this year following Mike Rockenfeller's title in the RS5 DTM.
