Hi I am selling a 1998 Audi Cabriolet Convertible.I want to start by saying this car is in very good shape for its age The paint is all original and is called Aluminum Silver metallic and is in nice shape besides the average nicks and door dings here and there. I have to say that there is no rust on this car anywhere and both the front and back bumper are in excellent condition all the lights and lenses are also in great shape the wheels are factory Audi alloy six spokes and are in great shape and the tires are all like new they are Goodyears. The interior is in nice shape the dash is perfect and the steering wheel is also perfect the factory radio has been changed to a Kenwood aftermarket cd player with hands free remote. The seats are leather and have some cracking on them due to age but I have installed a nice set of lambskin covers and they look good and are very comfortable also the seats are heated. The top is power its made of cloth and is grey in color the rear window does not leak and the top works with the press of a button the top does have a few marks on it that i have included in the pictures the pictures show a little fraying but no holes and it does not leak. The engine is a 2.8 V 6 and it runs great and does not smoke or drip a drop and it get 23 MPG also the car is bone dry on the under caraige. The transmission is an automatic and it shifts smoothly. The trunk is spacious and it is also dry and in the trunk is the factory spare and it looks like it has never been out of the well. The a/c blow cold and the heat is hot.The brakes are not that old and this car is still state inspected. The mileage on this car is original and below average for the year. This car will make a good everyday driver or a car to have around for the weekends. I can say that If you want to you can fly in from anywhere and drive it home knowing that you will not have any problems and if you happen to live in the area give me a call or stop by and take it for a ride or if you have a mechanic in the area he can check it out for you just give me a call. Are future vehicular hacks inevitable?

Wed, Jul 29 2015

Before the hack of the Uconnect system in a Jeep Cherokee resulted in a 1.4-million vehicle recall, the potential software vulnerabilities in vehicles were already a hot topic with Congressional inquiries and even proposed legislation in the US. As cars' interconnected systems gain the ability to go online, they become open to a host of new threats. Automakers are trying to stop this, but it might be too late to put the genie back into the bottle. Throughout 2015, the issue of software security in vehicles has become increasingly vital. For example, the recent Jeep case wasn't even the biggest hack this year. In February, a major flaw was discovered in the BMW Connected Drive service that allowed researchers to remotely lock and unlock the doors and potentially affected 2.2 million cars. The fix was an over-the-air patch for the problem. Automakers are actively working to fix the issues. Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi reportedly are using encrypted connections and firewalls in their vehicles to prevent hacking. "Absolute, 100-percent safety isn't possible," Daimler spokesperson Benjamin Oberkersch said to Automotive News Europe. "But we develop our systems, tested by internal and external experts, so they're up to date." These vulnerabilities seem to be popping up more often. A successful hack took $14 in parts from Radio Shack in one case. There was also a 60 Minutes report earlier in the year about DARPA's ability to hack into OnStar to take control of a Chevrolet Impala. Experts aren't so sure companies can contend with hackers' advancement. "The difficulty for the carmakers at the moment is the question whether they can keep pace with advances in technology, and especially hacking technology," Rainer Scholz, executive director for telematics consultant EY, said to Automotive News Europe. "We seriously doubt they can." At this point, vehicle hacks are coming more from researchers looking for holes than from those with malicious intent. Still, the vulnerabilities are definitely there. It's up to automakers to keep patching the problems before they become dangerous to drivers. Is Audi readying hardcore final edition R8?

Sun, 12 Oct 2014

The days may be numbered on the current Audi R8, but if our latest round of spy photos is any indication, Audi's first supercar is going to go out with a bang. This camo'd tester was spotted parked somewhere in Europe, and if doesn't at least belie a faster R8, it certainly indicates that a more aerodynamically intense model is coming.
The tall rear wing is the most obvious aerodynamic change. It's joined out back by a none-too-subtle diffuser and the cannon-like exhausts of the R8 V10 Plus, while the front and side of this particular R8 are home to new side sills and winglets on the lower front fascia.
We'll be keeping our ears to the ground for any more on what looks to be another variation of first-generation Audi supercar. Until then, let us know what you think this car may foreshadow. A new halo model? A gentleman racer? Have your say below.

Audi debuts all-new R18 E-Tron Quattro with novel secondary hybrid system

Thu, 12 Dec 2013

This is the new Audi R18. It looks like the Bond villain of race cars (it has red running lamps), and if Audi's past is any indication, it'll prove difficult to beat in the LMP1 class of the 2014 World Endurance Championship.
The car's full name is the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro, just like last year's car. Also like last year's car, the new R18 draws its power from a V6 turbodiesel, which powers its rear wheels, and Audi's E-Tron hybrid system, which runs its front axle. Unlike last year's car, though, this R18 has a secondary hybrid system. Audi has fitted the V6 with an electric turbocharger and figured out how to capture waste heat generated when the engine reaches its boost limit. That power can then be stored and fed back into either the turbo or the front axle's hybrid system under acceleration.
There are a number of changes to the body on the new car, forced in large part by series regulation changes. The car is narrower, particularly at the front, but it's also taller. The front end is set off by a new wing, as part of a new WEC regulation. Audi seems quite pleased about this, citing an improvement in front-end downforce and a reduction in cost. Like Formula One, the WEC contenders now have to contend with a ban on the so-called blown diffuser, which forced exhaust gases over the diffuser, creating downforce. That's necessitated some changes from Audi, although as we have no rear shots of the car, we can't tell you what it looks like.
