Up for auction is my 2002 Audi A8L. Its in great shape. This car is loaded with everything imaginable. Its a driving machine and with the all wheel drive and snow tires it does great in the snow. It is Audi Canvas Beige Metallic in color and the interior is Ekru. The car has 185,255K on it. Its my daily driver so mileage will go up slightly.   It has been serviced over its life and is an exceptional example of a A8L. This car has never been smoked in.  Checkout the autocheck report.  As with any car that has 185K on it there are good and not so good points about it.  I will list both below.
The Good
* The 4.2L V8 motor runs perfectly.  Its had regular oil changes over its life and the previous owner had the timing belt replaced.  I purchased this car last summer and installed a new air filter, cabin filters and cleaned the throttle body.  I also installed new spark plugs.  This motor has alot of life left in it.  I also installed front brake pads 2000 miles ago and just yesterday put new rear brake pads on it.  All calipers and rotors are in good shape.
* The transmission shifts as it should and is very smooth.  Previous owner stated he had the tranny rebuilt at 140K though I do not have any receipts for this.  I had the car inspected before I bought it and the mechanics told me the tranny fluid was fresh and clean.
* Recent maintenance on the car included a full synthetic oil change and new filter, two new front strut assemblies including springs, new/reman steering rack as well as front sway bar bushings.  All work was done on a lift and the entire underside of the car was checked out.  Everything is very clean under this car.  Exhaust, all suspension components, bushings etc etc are in excellent shape.
*The AC blows cold and the heat blows hot.....very nice climate system in these cars.  The heated seats, heated stearing wheel and heated mirrors work great as well.
*Both driver and passenger seats are power and all functions work as they should.  Again, very comfortable and adjustability is great.
* Interior carpet and all leather, door panels etc etc are all very clean and nice.  No stains or tears anywhere.
*All dashboard lights and controls work as they should.  Power mirrors work and so does the power steering wheel.  It adjusts up and down and it telescopes as well.
*  Cruise control work as it should.  Wipers work and are newer, delay wipers work as they should too.
* Car has rear heat and AC as well as back door sunshades and a rear window power sunshade.  All work as well.
*Sunroof works perfectly and is very smooth.  It pops up or you can open it all the way too.  Also has interior sliding sun shade for the sunroof thats in great shape.
*Trunk is huge and has the arm rest ski pass thru too.  You can fit 4 golf bags in this trunk as well.  All carpet is clean and free from any tears or stains.
*Exterior paint is bright and shiny and is Audi Melange in color, windows are tinted also.  This Audi is also fitted with the halogen headlights and foglights.
* Car has a set of 17" Aluminum rims on it with near Nokian snow tires that I just put on last week.  First pic is of newer rims and I included a couple close ups too.  Also included is the 17" Audi OEM aluminum wheels which are in great shape.  No curb rash or dents or dings.  Currently installed on these wheels are Dunlop snow tires which are excellent in the snow and coupled with the Quattro all wheel drive make this thing a tank in the snow.  Theres nothing it wont go thru, up or around when the roads are snowy and slushy.

The Bad
* Controls on the steering wheel do not work.  They didnt work when I purchased the car and I dont really use steering wheel controls anyways so I never checked into having them fixed.  I am not even sure what all these controls do as I never looked them up in the manual.
* One of the headlight levelers needs attention as the bulb telling you this is lit up on the dash.  Not something that really mattered to me so I havent checked it out to fix it.
*  The ABS/traction control light comes on sometimes but doesnt really do anything.  It may just be a dirty sensor from over the winter.  It will come on and stay on for a day or two and then go out for a couple months......again, not really something that I have looked into yet.
*  Passenger side head rest in the back seat does not go up when using the control.  The motor comes on but I believe the adjuster is off the track.
* Exterior body has a couple small nicks and a ding on front fender but they are barely noticeable.  This is an all aluminum body so no rust anywhere.

I think that covers just about everything.  I have tried to cover everything as thoroughly as I could.  If I missed something and you have any questions at all please dont hesitate to ask.  I purchased this car thinking I'd like a luxury sedan but it turns out I am more of a SUV kind of guy.  Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them.  I can work with you on shipping.  I have included a USHIP link in this auction so you can get an estimated cost from them if the car needs transported. Car is for sale locally and I do reserve the right to end auction for local sale.  I am looking to move this Audi as I found another car that I want.  If your serious send over an offer, the worst I'll say is no.  I also have a carfax report that I can email to you.  Thank You for looking and good luck!

Fastest and most powerful SUVs in America for 2022

Wed, Nov 10 2021

Here in the United States, we enjoy power almost as much as we like our SUVs. Thankfully, we’ve got plenty of both. Traditionally, the most powerful SUVs source their massive horsepower and torque from some form of a V8. While thatÂ’s still generally the case, electrification comes into play more and more, whether itÂ’s mild-hybrid tech, a plug-in hybrid powertrain or, as is the case with the two vehicles topping this list, fully electric vehicles. As we enter the 2022 model year, letÂ’s look at the most powerful SUVs available.  Before we dive in, letÂ’s address the elephant that is waiting just outside the door. Due to supply shortages, Mercedes-Benz is shelving most V8 models for the 2022 model year. Some 2021 models can still be found in dealer inventories, but we wonÂ’t include them. With that in mind, letÂ’s dive into the list. 2022 Audi RS Q8 — 591 hp / 190 mph Read our review of the Audi RS Q8 The only Audi on this list is a hot little number, which we characterized as “an uncompromising option in a field of compromised options.” Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 (which seems to be a popular format in this list), its 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque get it scootinÂ’ to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, and on to a top speed of 190 mph. It even has the bragging rights of holding the Nurburgring lap record for an SUV.   2022 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge — 592 hp / 155 mph (limited) Read our review of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan This is one SUV where being a passenger might be more exciting than sitting in the driverÂ’s seat, thanks to over-the-top luxury — what do you expect from a car that costs over $350,000? The driver doesnÂ’t go unrewarded, though, with a turbocharged 6.75-liter V12 at their disposal. Thanks to the Black BadgeÂ’s software upgrade, it makes 592 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque to help get to its electronically limited top speed of 155 mph that much quicker.    2022 BMW Alpina XB7 — 612 hp / 180 mph Read our review of the BMW Alpina XB7 Alpina takes already impressive BMW vehicles and turns them into even more powerful, more luxurious machines. The Alpina XB7 improves upon the BMW X7 with a biturbocharged 4.4-liter V8 offering up 612 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. ThatÂ’s good for a 4.0-second 0-60 sprint and a 180-mph top speed. Alpina also adds its own transmission and drivetrain tuning, upgraded suspension, exhaust and a whole slew of unique appearance touches.

VW fix would have cost $335 per vehicle

Wed, Sep 30 2015

Since the Volkswagen diesel kerfuffle began, Bosch, the world's largest auto supplier, has been hooked up to a bullhorn trying to make sure everyone knows its side of the story. Bosch supplied VW with the engine management testing software, including delivery and metering modules, that VW then used to skirt emissions laws in the US. Bosch told VW in 2007 that it was illegal to use the software in cars it planned to sell yet VW did it anyway, according to reports coming out in German newspapers Bild am Sonntag and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. That first warning came two years after VW started developing the small-displacement diesel, around the time that the two men pushing its development, then-brand chief Wolfgang Bernhard and engineer Rudolf Krebs, were telling their superiors that the engine needed AdBlue urea injection to pass US emissions. VW cost controllers wouldn't approve the AdBlue solution because it would add 300 euros ($335 US) to the cost of the vehicle. Bernhard and Krebs left the same year that Bosch advised VW about the software, two years before the engine went into production. That's when things get cloudy. A report in Automotive News says that when Martin Winterkorn took over in 2007 as head of the VW Group and brand, he asked Ulrich Hackenberg and Wolfgang Hatz to keep working on the engine, and "[the] engine then ended up in VW Group diesels" with that problematic software still intact. No one has yet pointed any fingers at this latter chain of command, but like a game of Clue, right now they're the professors in the library holding the candlesticks. Warnings didn't only come from the supplier: Frankfurter says VW's initial investigation has found that an engineer issued the same caution to the company in 2011. Neither Bosch nor VW would comment on the reports.
