Up for auction is my 2006 Audi A8. This is the short wheel base model, not the typical A8L which is 5.4 inches longer than the short wheelbase model. I purchased this car certified pre-owned from the dealer with 20k miles on it and have pampered it since. I have moved to Manhattan and no longer require two vehicles. Currently it has almost 96k miles on it. Tires have less than 1k miles on them. The car has the sport package which has a setting for sport in the adaptive air suspension. Saying the 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback is not as good as the not-for-North-America Audi RS6 Avant we recently tested is a bit like saying one more strip of crispy bacon would make our Waffle House All-Star Special breakfast even more special. The RS7 goes to ten while the RS6 goes to eleven, maybe, but they both rock our world. The RS7 is meant for the far wider buying audience worldwide, not just for western European family bombing runs, as with the RS6 Avant.
But, hey, this RS7 simply hurtles down the road in a singularly sexy way. And if you really want this bodystyle - and who could blame you? - the RS6 Avant doesn't really even matter anyway. After a full day on perfect dry and warm Swabian two-lanes driving this Audi very hard, we barely thought about it at all.
Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year
Thu, 14 Nov 2013Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Is Audi readying hardcore final edition R8?
Sun, 12 Oct 2014The days may be numbered on the current Audi R8, but if our latest round of spy photos is any indication, Audi's first supercar is going to go out with a bang. This camo'd tester was spotted parked somewhere in Europe, and if doesn't at least belie a faster R8, it certainly indicates that a more aerodynamically intense model is coming.
The tall rear wing is the most obvious aerodynamic change. It's joined out back by a none-too-subtle diffuser and the cannon-like exhausts of the R8 V10 Plus, while the front and side of this particular R8 are home to new side sills and winglets on the lower front fascia.
We'll be keeping our ears to the ground for any more on what looks to be another variation of first-generation Audi supercar. Until then, let us know what you think this car may foreshadow. A new halo model? A gentleman racer? Have your say below.
