Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster in the metal in Monterey

Even surrounded by glamorous people and a plethora of extremely exotic vehicles on the lawn of the Quail, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster sticks out as something just a little bit more special. Under the Monterey sun all of the carbon fiber on the hood and in the air dam pops out from the shining ruby red paint. The aggressive looks are deserved though, because the latest roadster might be one of the most impressive droptop GTs ever to come out of Aston Martin. Under that louvered bonnet is a tuned version of Aston's long-lived 6.0-liter V12 – it's 44 pounds lighter, too. Plus, this engine is mated to the brand's latest Sportshift III seven-speed sequential gearbox to rocket it to 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 201 miles per hour. Features like adaptive dampers, two-stage ABS and carbon-ceramic brakes, make the new V12 Vantage Roadster an even more intriguing and capable package. Dog sent packing after eating owner's $130,000 Aston Martin

When is Man's Best Friend not really Man's Best Friend? As a Somerset, England man found out, it's when she's taking a few bites out of your $130,000 Aston Martin. Royston Grimstead left his home one morning, only to return to find the wheel arch of his British convertible chewed to bits, courtesy of one of his dogs. Luce, the four-year-old Border Collie/Spaniel mix guilty of the damage, may have had motive, according to Grimstead. According to the 42-year-old man, he was already trying to find a new home for the adorable dog, claiming it didn't get along with his other canines. "She must have overheard me because she's normally friendly and never really chewed on anything before," Grimstead said. Luce has found a new home, and according to the Bridgwater Mercury, Grimstead's insurance will cover the damage. Hopefully, Grimstead has now learned a valuable lesson from all of this: Always take the Aston Martin to work. Aston Martin 'likes the idea of Adrian Newey doing a road car'

The whispers, suggestion, and innuendo touting a supercar project that involves some combination of Adrian Newey, Red Bull, and Aston Martin will not cease. Auto Express got comment from Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer regarding the gossip, Palmer saying, "There is rarely smoke without fire." He added that while he is on board with the idea of Newey penning something for the English carmaker, the Warwick firm is not the source of the rumors tying the two. But of course, what else would he say to the question of having perhaps the finest Formula One aerodynamicist of this generation design a coupe to wear the wings? The admission is a bit like Palmer saying he likes the idea of someone giving Aston Martin a billion dollars. He classified the situation as saying "there is no authentic program" with Newey, which sounds like official language for 'we've talked about it but there's no paper trail yet.' The project to build "an ultimate sports car" is under consideration, with designs in the works. A decision on whether to go further might come before the year is out. Or it might not.
