Aston Martin confirms DP-100 for Gran Turismo 6 and Goodwood debut

Gran Turismo 6 is set to come to life this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. That's where Mercedes-AMG will run its Vision Gran Turismo and Nissan will show a full-size mockup of its Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. Now Aston Martin has announced it's getting in on the action as well with its Design Prototype 100. Aston has released a video two teaser images to give us a hint at what it's working on, but will reveal the finished product in the Supercar Paddock at Goodwood tomorrow, although we don't know if that will be in the form of a scale model, a full-size show car, a series of design sketches or a virtual rendition existing only in the game. From the look of the two images, though, it appears that we're dealing with an LMP-style racer with Aston's ubiquitous V12 mounted in the middle of a carbon-fiber chassis. What we do know for certain is that, when it's released for download next month, it will be the latest (but certainly not the last) in a long line of concepts designed specifically for driving on the PlayStation 3.

Aston Martin bringing special Vantage, DB9 editions to Geneva

A European car show wouldn't be a European car show without the introduction of a new special-edition Aston Martin. And this year, Aston has two of them lined up to unveil at the Geneva Motor Show. First up we have the latest in a long line of N edition V8 Vantages. This one is called N430, and it will be available in both coupe and roadster bodystyles. It features the same 430-horsepower version of Aston's 4.7-liter V8 as the Vantage S (mated to either the six-speed manual or seven-speed sequential gearbox), and weight-saving measures like carbon-Kevlar seats and ten-spoke forged alloys help it hustle to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds en route to its 190 mph top speed. A new competition-derived aero package, retuned suspension, new steering ratios and a throatier exhaust aim to give the N430 a tighter, racier feel – as do the "club sports graphics packs" (that take their inspiration from GT racing versions of the Vantage) and dark-finish trim inside and out. Aston is also rolling out new Carbon Black and Carbon White editions of its DB9 that incorporate additional carbon-fiber trim to either complement or contrast with the exterior paint. Unfortunately, neither the V8 Vantage N430 or DB9 Carbon editions will be available in North America, so we'll just have to gaze at them from afar until we see them up close at the Swiss expo early next month. Get your Aston Martin Vulcan in Ohio for just $3.4 million

Want to get your hands on an Aston Martin Vulcan? Good luck: the manufacturer is only building 24 of them, and each carries a price tag of over $2 million. But if you're willing to shell out, there's one for sale in Cleveland. This Fiamma Red example listed for sale on the duPont Registry is described as the first Vulcan in the United States. It bears the VIN AMLVULCANXXXXXX07, indicating that this is the seventh of those two dozen examples to be made. And it can be yours for the small matter of $3.4 million, which is one heck of a markup on a vehicle that's already enormously expensive. The Vulcan, for those unfamiliar, is the supercar that Aston Martin built specifically for use on the track. That puts it in the same league as the McLaren P1 GTR and Ferrari FXX K. The Vulcan features an old-school naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12 rated at over 800 horsepower – mounted up front but entirely behind the axle. It's built around a carbon-fiber tub that's even stronger and lighter than the one at the center of the One-77. And that aero kit derived from Aston's GT3 racer will generate as much as 3,000 pounds of downforce at top speed. The Aston is also more rare than its counterparts, of which McLaren will build 35 and Ferrari fewer than 40. That's rather rare company indeed, in which the Vulcan looks poised to be the rarest.
