Well, if you haven't had the Alfa bug, here's a great way to get started... I'm listing this for a friend who is living a life that's too busy to raise an Alfa. These cars need love and attention, and he's smart enough to pass the baton before the car suffers.

All in all, no major issues noted, solid driver that you can drive as is or continue to improve it.

So, this auction is for a 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate, very solid car, runs as good or better than any Spider I have driven. ( I've owned many ). Loads of money spent over past couple years at Mastro Subaru ( previous Alfa dealer for years, they still service them for a few owners ) Receipts available with purchase, so you have some history. He has spent a good deal (read that over $8000) of money on the car to get it reliable. Seller is realistic about value.

This car runs great. Fires right up and runs smoothly, very good power, no smoking or odd motor noises, excellent correct recent bolt on exhaust ( not muffler shop stuff ) Very good clutch, works smoothly. Transmission has typical lazy synchros if you try to rush a shift. If you don't rush it, the car shifts fine. Very smooth on the highway. No issues with a long drive home if you want a top down adventure. Temps, charging, etc. all good. It runs well. Brakes are strong, the rears squeak sometimes, depending on the car's mood. This is common with Spiders.

So, the low down: There is no Spider I've ever seen without needs, but it's also almost 30 years old... Newer tires, excellent seats, just redone, carpet and original floor mats-(old but serviceable), New door panels, decent cloth top with very good, new & clear rear window. Updated radio with CD, USB and Aux input. Glove box door removed, it was warped and not replaced. The lights work, directionals work, trunk lamps and reverse lamps don't. It has a/c but it's not working, like most Alfas, it was anemic when it did. Dash has a cap on it. Driver's door mirror is in poor condition, it rattles. No visors. This car needs cosmetic TLC, the paint is an older repaint and it was painted with base coat / clear coat. The clear coat has failed on the top surfaces. There is an odd spot on the hood that looks easy to deal with. The body is straight and not rusty. Trunk is solid and the spare well is solid. I would have no issue driving the car any distance. I put 40 miles on it and it was happy to be on the road. These cars love/need to be used. The car started out in Virginia and spent some time in storage in New Mexico, then made the trip to Florida via truck to be put back on the road.

Please contact me with any questions so you are clear about what you are buying. I have a good contact for a truck if you want to have it transported.

Go ahead, your significant other will forgive you eventually!!! SOLD AS IS AND WHERE IS.

Alfa Romeo 4C will be refreshed for the 2019 model year

Sun, Dec 10 2017

Alfa Romeo Chief Technical Officer Roberto Fedeli said at a launch event for the Stelvio Quadrifoglio that an updated version of the 4C is coming next year as a 2019 model. "We are coming back to Formula 1," he said, "and we need the 4C to be our halo car," Fedeli told Autocar. But don't expect to see the refresh bring with it a manual transmission. No future high-performance models from Alfa, Maserati, or even Ferrari will be getting clutch pedals anytime soon, a decision reportedly made after Ferrari spent 10 million euros developing a manual gearbox for the California a few years back only to see exactly two customers choose the option over an automatic. We'd hazard a guess that Alfa will tone down its carbon-fiber 4C for the next generation. As fun as the little sportscar is on a race track, it's equally jarring to drive on regular roads. A revised suspension and perhaps power steering may be on the menu. Related Video:

Marchionne on Alfa's US return, Dodge Dart's powertrain weakness and minivan plans

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

As a reporter covering an auto show, the one opportunity you never want to miss is going to the Sergio Marchionne press briefing.
"This undertaking to bring Alfa back is a one-shot deal... We are not going to do this twice."
There just aren't that many real characters left in the auto industry. Marchionne, who sits atop both Chrysler and Fiat, is not only one of the smartest execs in the business, but also the most frank. Herein, a sample of the quotable always-sweatered executive:

Best sport sedans for 2022 and 2023

Thu, Nov 11 2021

SUVs dominate the car industry at every size and price level, but some people still prefer the looks, and more importantly, the performance and comfort, of the traditional sedan. With a lower ride height, lighter weight and generally smaller size, they often are much more fun to drive, and can even be more comfortable. Sport sedans of course lean harder on the performance side of things, and are among the best options for sheer speed and fun, thanks to those inherent characteristics. We've rounded up the ones in the segment that do the sporty dance better than any others in 2024 to give you a handy guide when you're shopping for one of your own. You'll find a wide array of cars here including gas, electric and hybrid powertrains. They'll have manual and automatic transmissions and drive the front, rear or all four wheels. Technically a few hatchbacks have slipped in, but they're close enough in look and feel that we wanted to include them. And excluding them means you might miss out on some of the best-driving options available. You wouldn't want that, would you? Alfa Romeo Giulia Why it stands out: Punchy four-cylinder; astounding power from Quadrifoglio; light and nimble character; awesome shift paddlesCould be better: Clunky infotainment; sub-par switchgear Read our Alfa Romeo Giulia review We start this list with one of the most predictable inclusions: the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Yes, it's a stereotype that the Italian sport sedan is fun to drive, but the fact is, well, it is. The Giulia comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 280 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful four-cylinders in the segment. It's paired with a snappy and smooth eight-speed transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.  The engine is lively and torquey, if a little short of revs, and the chassis feels super-light. The steering is eager and the car jumps into corners. We also highly recommend getting a version with the enormous and superb aluminum paddle shifters that make clicking through gears much more entertaining. And on the topic of the interior, it's attractive, but the various switches and knobs feels a little cheap, and the infotainment system is clunky. Of course there's also the incredible Giulia Quadrifoglio at the high end. It gets a Ferrari-derived twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 making 505 hp, and it's rear-wheel drive only.
