Hello everyone!  This is a NO RESERVE auction!!

I'm selling my 1979 Serie 2 Spider Veloce.  The Serie 2 Spiders are increasing in popularity and value due to their straight forward reliable mechanicals as opposed to electrical issues found in the later Alfa Romeo models.  These cars are quick, loads of fun and easy to maintain.

This 79 Spider comes in the original color Alfa Rosso that has been confirmed by CENTRO DOCUMENTAZIONE ALFA ROMEO (FGA):

This Spider has been professionally converted to Dual Weber 40 DCOE Carburators that add to reliability and performance.  In addition, this car was equipped with PC452 Street Performance Camshafts from Centerline.  It is very quick and keeps pulling all the way to the top.  I'm not sure of the top speed as the needle goes well beyond the speedometer's final marking.  Facet electronic fuel pump with built-in fuel filter has been installed in the location of the stock unit. The car has 4 wheel disc brakes and a Limited Slip Differential.  I also installed a new custom exhaust from the mid pipe back with catalytic delete.

Interior: It is in very good, almost excellent condition.  The dash has NO cracks whatsoever as the car has been garage kept.  Top is in excellent, near new shape with clear rear window.  The top folds up and down with just one hand.  Seats are in very good shape with no tears, few dirt spots which is typical for light colored convertible interiors. They recline, adjust and go back and forth on tracks perfectly.  Carpets are factory original molded set in good shape. Trunk has the factory carpeting with an original battery cover.

Steering wheel wood and shifter are matching shades of wood and are very good.  Center console is clean and tight.  There's no radio but these cars sound so beautiful you would never use it anyway.

Body: I bought the car with minor rust in the right fender and a ding in the nose that was repaired at a professional shop in Pasadena, California with an excellent color tint and match. There are few nicks on the paint but the body is straight.  Underside is dry and clean.

Tires are in almost new condition and are mounted on model correct Turbina wheels.

Electricals: All gauges are operational.  All lights work, including side marker lights, hi/lo beams, turnsignals, etc.  Interior turn signal indicator bulb burnt out.  I checked the leads with a tester and all it needs is a replacement bulb.  Wipers work on low and high.

This car does not overheat even in the LA traffic.  It has been my daily driver and I tend to put over 70 miles per day. Car tracks straight.  Brakes are good.  Recent oil change using Valvoline Synthetic VR1 oil and K&N filter.

So, then why am I selling such a great Alfa Spider? I need something with more than just one passenger seat.  As such, I am willing to let go of my Spider and find an early Berlina or Giulia. In fact, I am open to barter for a very clean one.

I am listing the car in auction format but also with BIN price.  As a bonus for BIN buyer, I will include a 74 Serie 2 Spider complete but not running.  The 74 comes with the highly desirable steel front and rear bumpers, factory exhaust header, earlier door trim panels and other trim items.  It is mechanically complete as well and is rolling on Cromodora Daytona factory alloys.  It has a straight body but with some rust.  Overall its a restoration worth its while as the early Serie 2 Spiders are climbing in price or you can use the bumpers and the rest of the rare early pieces to complement the 79.  The 74 is included at the BIN price ONLY.

Please note that this is 34 year old car and even though it looks and runs great it is not represented as new or as restored.  Please feel free to ask any question or request additional photos.  The car is listed on sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at any time!

Special word to scammers:  Please do not bother here.  This is not my first sale over the internet so if you are not physically present, work on an oil rig, doubled over in a remote hospital or came into a fortune that you would need access to except without my help, please DON'T bother! I will pursue scams to the full extent that Ebay allows!

Argentinians find stash of never-registered, brand-new 30-year-old Italian cars

Fri, Apr 3 2020

While much of the world is sheltering in place, several new, never-registered Italian and French cars exited a 27-year confinement in Argentina. They were left for dead in an abandoned dealership that sold Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Peugeot models in a city named Avellaneda near Buenos Aires, the country's capital. Details surrounding the dealership are murky. Argentina's Autoblog (no relation to us) reported it closed at some point during the 1990s after the owner and his son died in violent circumstances. Automotive archaeology tells your author it likely shut its doors in 1993, because that's the only year in which the first-generation Fiat Ducato launched in 1981 and the post-facelift Fiat Tipo, axed in 1995, overlapped. Both are clearly visible in the photos. What's certain is that someone finally inherited the property in 2020 and wanted the cars gone as quickly as possible in order to sell it. The anonymous owner asked Kaskote Calcos, a local body shop that also runs a used-car lot, to haul them away via Instagram. We're guessing the firm didn't need to be asked twice.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Axel By Kaskote (@kaskotecalcos) on Mar 24, 2020 at 1:57pm PDT Many of the cars hidden in the dealership were made by Fiat; the photos show several examples of the Tipo, an Uno, a Tempra, and the aforementioned Ducato. An Alfa Romeo 33 wagon and a Peugeot 405 were also stashed in the trove. Most were stored indoors so they weren't damaged by sunlight or humidity, and images of the cars taken after they were pressure-washed confirm they're in like-new condition inside and out. We're told some even started, though for the love of valves and pistons we hope they got a new timing belt before being fired up.  Kaskote Calcos hasn't revealed what it will do with the cars. None are particularly sought-after, they're economy cars that were mass-produced and mass-destroyed, and their current values reflect that. You can get a post-facelift Uno for the price of a few Peroni pints in Italy. The fact that they're new, never-registered examples will undoubtedly increase their appeal, even if registering them could require slashing through jungles of red tape. As a side note, finding a 405 beached in a Fiat dealership isn't as random as it might sound.

Alfa Romeo range-topping sports car confirmed for 2023 debut

Fri, Aug 19 2022

Alfa Romeo's on-again, off-again range-topping sports car is back in the pipeline. Company boss Jean-Philippe Imparato confirmed that a two-door flagship is on track to make its debut in 2023 as a concept whose exterior design will draw inspiration from historic models. "You will see something in that field in terms of sportiness in the first half of 2023. We use one word to define the brand, and it's 'sportiness,'" the executive told British magazine Autocar. He's previously voiced his support for bringing back the dormant GTV and Duetto nameplates. Imparato added that the yet-unnamed model will borrow styling cues from the Tipo 33, though he didn't specify which version of the car he has in mind. Alfa raced several evolutions of the Tipo 33 from 1966 to 1977, and it sold 18 units of a Franco Scaglione-designed supercar with a mid-mounted engine called 33 Stradale (pictured) between 1967 and 1969. We're guessing it's the latter that will provide inspiration. Numerous points remain up in the air, like what will power the car. "For the moment, I have two scenarios: full ICE or full EV," he revealed to Autocar. Regardless, the model "will be very exciting, very selective, and very expensive." It sounds like production will be limited. We're about four months away from 2023, so we won't have to wait long to discover the concept that Alfa Romeo is working on. Executives have toyed with the idea of adding a sportier model to the range for several years, but they have never pulled the trigger. Imparato explained in 2021 that the brand wouldn't release another two-door car until it increased its sales in more mainstream segments of the market. What's changed since then is unclear; the Tonale unveiled in February 2022 is the only new Alfa Romeo released since. (A Dodge Hornet badge-engineered version of the Tonale was revealed this week.) Traveling further back, in 2018 former Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) boss Sergio Marchionne announced that the 8C and GTV names would make a comeback on a pair of coupes. The former was presented as having a carbon fiber chassis and 700 horsepower thanks to a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain built around a mid-mounted turbocharged V6. The latter was also planned as a hybrid, but it would have offered drivers 600 horsepower, and a sketch made it look like a two-door version of the Giulia sedan. Both cars were canned by 2019. Alfa Romeo reportedly developing a Giulia-based coupe

Thu, Apr 5 2018

Much like classic, rear-wheel-drive Alfa Romeo sedans, the Giulia might gain a coupe counterpart. The possible Alfa Romeo coupe wouldn't just be a cruiser, as it's rumored to get a fantastical-sounding 641 horsepower output. British Autocar's sources say Alfa Romeo is developing a coupe based on the Giulia, with the front end carried over and a coupe body designed from that point back. Autocar says the coupe could be unveiled this year and hit the market in 2019. Alfa Romeo sold some 8,900 Giulias last year in the United States, and the coupe could function as a halo car. As for the powertrain, the standard version would utilize the Giulia's two-liter turbo engine good for 197 and 276 horsepower in various guises, but the absolute big deal would be the 2.9 turbo V6, which would gain an F1-style energy recovery system to boost the power to near-Ferrari levels. As in 641 horsepower, which is hundreds more than possible competitors from BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz have. The non-ERS, 500 hp version could also be available. Sources say a name for the coupe could be Sprint, which certainly carries a cachet, but as Autocar notes, "GTV" would correspond to Alfa Romeo's RWD history a little better — take for example the 1970s Alfetta and Alfetta GTV sedan-coupe combination. Sprint, on the other hand, was a front-wheel-drive coupe based on Alfasud hatchback mechanicals. Related Video: Image Credit: AOL/Drew Phillips Rumormill Alfa Romeo Coupe Performance alfa romeo giulia
