You are viewing a very rare 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto 1600 Spider 105.03 "garage find" example. Being offered due to recent loss of storage space. I received this email from Alfa Romeo archives: with reference to your request we are informing you as follows.
According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 664733 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 “Duetto” (105.03), manufactured on the 11th April 1967 and sold on the 12th July 1967 in Elmhurst, USA. The body colour is red, with black skai interiors.
Yours, Sincerely,
Marco Fazio The "Duetto" has been garage stored for many years, and has recently been brought of out storage. It is in non running condition and will need a full restoration. The Duetto which was designed by Pinin Farina is considered by many to be one of the best designed mass produced Alfa. The '66 & '67 model years are the only "true" Duetto's which are the most collectible of the Roundtail body style. With Giulietta and Giulia Spider prices appreciating rapidly, the Duetto is the next Alfa model to see the same type of appreciation. Unrestored examples are becoming increasingly harder to find and with values on the rise, a high quality restoration can be a great investment. As noted, the Duetto will need a complete restoration. The body is fairly solid with evidence of old body repairs to the rocker panels and other areas. The nose panel had been dinged in the past but does retain some remnants of the original "dimple". There is no evidence of previous accident damage that I can detect. The trunk lid was dented on the left rear as noted in the pictures. There are also old repairs to the trunk lid hinge area which is a common weak point. The trunk lid opens and closes without any issues. Door gaps and hood gaps are excellent. Floors are solid as well as the jump seat area. Rockers will need replacement as well as the radiator support. Has all original bumpers and grill which are all in good original condition. Has original factory 15" wheels including the spare. Has factory headlight covers - they are loosely fitted due to a broken tab and mounting tab. The drivetrain had been removed from the Alfa while it was in storage, prior to my purchase the engine was installed to make transport easier. The transmission is not installed, but is included. Both the engine and transmission will need to be rebuilt. The 1600 engine does turn freely. The follow mechanical components did not come with the Alfa: Carb/intake, clutch, heater box, starter & generator. The interior is in good original condition as noted in the pictures. Original dash not cut up. All gauges in good condition. Driver's side door panel is warped, passenger side in good condition. Includes a full set of factory keys - all keys work including doors and glove box. Convertible top frame in good condition with no damage. Top is old, with rips and taped rear window, but will keep the car relatively dry. Both windows operate fine with no issues with the window regulators. The convertible top boot is from my '69 Spider, and is not included in the auction. Has period correct "wood steering wheel". The Duetto represents a great opportunity for the Alfa enthusiast that is looking for a Duetto and cannot afford a restored example. This Alfa will give you the platform to do the restoration of your choice, knowing that the value will ultimately be determined by the quality of work that is being done. A no expense restoration can still be a worthwhile project with values continuing to appreciate. The Alfa is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I cannot be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies that may have been inadvertently been provided. For the motivated buyer, I will consider ending the auction early for a serious offer, however I do not have a buy it now price set. The fine print: If you have 5 or less feedback transactions, you must contact me prior to bidding. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of the auction end. If the deposit is not received, the "Alfa" will be offered to the next highest bidder. The balance is due within 7 days of the auction end date. The car must be picked up within 10 days of the auction end date. A $10.00 per day storage fee will be charged after the 10 days unless prior arrangements have been made. For International Buyers, I have sold several vintage cars to overseas buyers with the buyers being extremely pleased with the sale. "License Plate" and "Convertible Top Boot" not included. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. |

1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider wins top prize at Villa d'Este
Wed, May 27 2015Every year, a selection of the most beautiful automobiles ever made travel to the shores of Lake Como in Italy, for the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Only one of them can be named the belle of the ball, however, and this year, top honors went to a classic 1930s-era Alfa Romeo. The 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider owned by American collector David Sydorick won the Best in Show award. The deep red roadster is entered the circle of finalists after winning the B class for "Pre-war sports cars which defied the Great Depression." The classic Alfa features coachwork by Zagato. The coachbuilder notes that another one of its creations – a 1956 Maserati A6G/54 also owned by an American collector – won the post-war class. The modern Maserati-powered Mostro, which Zagato revealed at the concours and delivered to its first customer, did not win the Concepts and Prototypes class. (But we've included an updated image gallery below just the same). That award went to the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6. The people's choice Coppa d'Oro was awarded to the 1950 Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta by Touring, while a 1973 Munch-4 TTS-E won the motorcycle category. An impressive parade of all the cars and motorcycles entered in competition and the announcement of this year's prize winners provided a dazzling Classic Weekend on the banks of Lake Como with a fitting climax late on Sunday afternoon in front of thousands of spectators. The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este had once again underlined its stand-out status on the exclusive event calendar for historic cars and motorcycles. All eyes were trained on the line-up of precious classic machines and striking concept cars over the two days of the Concorso. Under a pleasantly warm sun, the event's "Seventies Style – the Jet Set is back" banner spanned a host of special exhibitions and highlight features, creating a fitting stage for a weekend that will live long in the memory. As ever, the best was left until last. The jury of experts provided the event with its crowning moment as the Trofeo BMW Group for "Best of Show" was awarded to an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider from 1932. The Coppa d'Oro Villa d'Este prize decided by public referendum was won by a Ferrari 166M Barchetta from 1950.
Mysterious Maserati test mule could be upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulia
Mon, Dec 8 2014Well well well, what have we here? The truth is that we don't know. It seems to be a Maserati Ghibli, but since that model is already out on the market, we're likely looking at something else. Just what is the question, and the answer likely lies in the wheelbase. While this test mule, spied undergoing cold-weather testing in northern Sweden, is clearly wearing the bodywork (and likely most of the mechanical bits) from the Ghibli, it's riding on a shortened wheelbase. Which tells us this could be one of two things: it's likely to be a test mule either for the upcoming Maserati Alfieri sports car, or for the new Alfa Romeo Giulia. The Alfieri was presented in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show back in March, foreshadowing a new sports car to serve as a halo model in the Maserati lineup. The production version is expected to be smaller and nimbler than the existing GranTurismo and positioned against the likes of the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type and Mercedes-AMG GT, to name just a few. The Giulia, meanwhile, is slated to be the first all-new Alfa Romeo since the arrival of the 4C last year and the Italian marque's first mainstream model since the launch of the Giulietta in 2010. The new sedan is expected to go after the likes of the BMW 3 Series and the new Jaguar XE, slotting in below the larger Maserati Ghibli that seeks to challenge the 5 Series and XF. If this is indeed a test mule for the new Alfa sedan, the quad tailpipes would seem, as our spy photographers point out, to indicate it's laying the groundwork for the GTA performance version. One way or another, there's something enticing to be coming soon from Italy, so watch this space.
