1988 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio Convertible 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars

Year:1988 Mileage:46441
Location:

United States

As stated in my condition description this is a project vehicle that runs but needs some cosmetic repairs and restoration. It's a 1988 Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Spider bought new by it's single owner. Unfortunately he passed and the car sat for many years so there are some areas that have been attacked by rust. The front left and right fenders are pretty rusted out along with the valance in front of the wind shield (however I have a brand new one in black that can be painted red to match that will be included in the sale). Also the spare tire carrier has rusted out and needs repair. I have taken pictures of all the bad spots and pretty much every point of the car.

The motor, transmission, coolant and fuel system has been completely flushed and put back to its original working order. Two new fuel pumps and a new fuel filter was installed prior to start up. Yes, the car does run, but the clutch hydraulic system has lost pressure which I am assuming would be caused by a bad slave cylinder, and the buyer should be advised that it needs to be properly looked over to ensure it is road worthy. The soft top does not leak, but because it has been outside for many years it has seeped moisture inside and the carpet now needs to be completely vacuumed and steam cleaned. The dash and other accessories are in perfect "like new" condition and the car is equipped with a special edition steering wheel. I do have a hard top that we had bought at one point that IS NOT included but will sell for $500. The soft top frame needs a little work as its hard to move up and down. The overall condition can be seen by my pictures, but if you need any more please let me know.

It was once a fun, great running car, I remember driving in it as a little kid. With only 46, 400 original miles this Alpha defiantly still has a chance to be a fully restored and put back on the road. This is being sold as is and all shipping costs will be paid by the buyer. I will help on my end to ensure safe delivery. Shipping costs are estimated to be anywhere from $500-800 if you are in the United States. I will work with the buyer to arrange shipping carriers or local pickup.

If you have any other questions or concerns please don't hesitate to message me.

Alfa Romeo won't sully the GTA name by putting it on the Stelvio

Wed, Apr 1 2020

Alfa Romeo began celebrating its 110th birthday by resurrecting the heritage-laced GTA nameplate on a track-happy evolution of the Giulia Quadrifoglio. Enthusiasts went wild when they heard the news, but the company warned it's not about to put the GTA name on every model it makes just to capitalize on its popularity. First launched in 1965, the GTA acronym has historically denoted a lighter version of an existing model developed with racing (or, at least, track use) in mind. The recently-unveiled Giulia GTA fits the bill; a Stelvio GTA wouldn't, according to the company. Executives thought long and hard about it and ultimately ruled it out. "GTA is an important name for Alfa Romeo. Frankly speaking, we had a meeting on a Stelvio GTA, but it's just not in line with customer expectations. It has to be the best possible [on the track]. On the Stelvio, we have a higher center of gravity [than on the Giulia], so it won't achieve the same goals," said Fabio Migliavacca, the company's product marketing boss, in a candid interview with British magazine Autocar. His comments suggest the 505-horsepower Quadrifoglio model is as hot as the Stelvio will get in the foreseeable future. There's no indication Alfa Romeo is planning to add a second sedan to its range — its next new model is widely believed to be a smaller crossover — so the GTA treatment will be limited to the Giulia (pictured). This could explain why demand for the car and its two-seater GTAm counterpart has been exceptionally high. The stripped-out, 540-horsepower sedans are limited to 500 numbered units combined worldwide. Alfa Romeo hasn't started taking orders yet, and it had the misfortune of unveiling the model mere days before the Italian government imposed an ongoing national coronavirus quarantine, but it has received more expressions of interest than it has build slots. Migliavacca revealed a majority of the enthusiasts the firm has heard from prefer the more hardcore GTAm over the slightly softer GTA. It's lighter, and consequently quicker around a track. "A lot of people are raising their hands and saying, 'I want to have one,' 'I want to have four,'" he said. "It's truly an amazing reaction considering the timing." Related Video:

Alfa Romeo brings back the Quadrifoglio Verde

Fri, Feb 28 2014

With a history as rich as Alfa's, the brand has a wealth of symbology to draw on. Of course the Alfa Romeo logo itself has its own clout and allure, as do nameplates like Giulietta, Giulia and Spider. But another symbol from the marque's 104-year history is the Quadrifoglio Verde. The green clover leaf has adorned the most hardcore performance Alfas since 1923. The emblem was brought back to distinguish the top versions of the MiTo and Giulietta in 2009, both of which are now headed to the Geneva Motor Show in even more enticing form. The new three-door MiTo QV packs a 1.4-liter turbo four driving 170 horsepower to the front wheels through Alfa's six-speed dual-clutch transmission, giving it a 0-62 time of 7.3 seconds and a 136-mph top speed. The latest five-door Giulietta QV, meanwhile, packs a 1.75-liter turbo four with 240 horsepower – the same engine and six-speed DCT as the 4C, only turned around to drive the front wheels from the front end. It's good for a 6.6-second sprint to 62 and a 150-mph top speed. Both models come with a host of upgrades both inside and out, details of which you can read in the press release below. But one of the most enticing parts is the matte grey finish which Alfa is offering on both models, and which only makes us anticipate the marque's eventual return to the North American market that much more. The 'Quadrifoglio Verde' is back on Giulietta and MiTo - The legendary 'Quadrifoglio Verde' that has identified the top performing cars by Alfa Romeo since 1923 is back on the new versions - Giulietta celebrates its 60th anniversary with a new 'Quadrifoglio Verde' - True expression of Alfa Romeo's DNA, this car marks the debut of the new 240 HP 1750 Turbo Petrol engine with all-aluminium direct injection - State-of-the-art 'Alfa TCT' 6-speed twin dry clutch transmission - It's the same engine/transmission as the Alfa Romeo 4C supercar - Giulietta's flagship model can exceed 240 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds - New intake system highlighting Alfa Romeo's typical full, enveloping engine sound - New steering wheel, new instruments with dedicated graphics and QV logo and new leather and Alcantara seats, wraparound and sporty, with built-in headrest - New matt Magnesio Grey body colour exclusively created for the 'Launch Edition' special series produced in a limited edition of only 500 vehicles.
