1986 Alpha Romeo Graduate on 2040-cars
Sacramento, California, United States
This auction is for a 1986 Alpha Romeo Spider with a Quadrifoglio hard top.
Alpha Romeo has been building new cars since the beginning of the 20th Century. It continues this day to produce classic designs with overtly sporty characteristics. he new Spider was introduced in 1966 to replace the aging Giulietta Spider model. It was designed and built by Pininfarina and was based on the Giulia 105 series chassis with a shortened wheelbase. It became and American classic after release of the 1967 film The Graduate, starring Dustin Hoffman. In 1970 the round tail was replaced by the Kamm style cut-off tail as well as with other numerous small changes, both inside and out, such as new door handles and improved interior trim. With changes along the way, this model continued in production until 1994. This classy, sporty 1986 Alpha Romeo Spider has been cared for by the same owner since 1990. The first owner sold it when a family car was needed after he married and had a child. Under the hood is a 1962cc????? engine producing 132 bhp?????? with a 5 speed manual transmission. Red exterior, black vinyl interior. Options include power side mirrors, pop-off battery connection for easy storage, snow chains, and Alpine AM FM radio and CD player (to be installed) with remote. The red Quadrifoglio hard top makes this vehicle particularly desirable. (The original soft top is included but has not been in use for several years, has deteriorated, and should be replaced if soft top driving is desired.) This original engine runs beautifully; the car runs and drives well. This is a great classic Italian Sports Car with a modern touch. Maserati Grecale and Alfa Romeo Tonale delayed
Mon, Oct 18 2021MILAN — Maserati on Monday delayed the launch of its new Grecale SUV until the spring of 2022 from November this year due to a global chip shortage. The announcement by the luxury brand, part of Stellantis, comes as a shortage of semiconductors forces automakers around the world to slow or suspend production. Maserati said its decision stemmed from ongoing disruptions in the supply of parts. "In particular, due to a scarcity of semiconductors, production volumes would not adequately meet expected global demand," Maserati said in a statement. A global premiere for the Grecale, which will be produced in Cassino in central Italy, was initially scheduled for Nov. 16. Stellantis this month also confirmed it would present the Tonale, the new Alfa Romeo SUV, next March after it had been expected at the end of this year. Stellantis, formed this year though the merger of Fiat Chrysler and France's PSA, has halted production at several plants, including in Europe and Canada, due to the chip shortage. It has forecast it will produce 1.4 million fewer vehicles this year. The FIM-CISL union has said the impact of a semiconductor shortage on Stellantis' Italian production this year will be worse and longer-lasting than the damage to output caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Leno samples Corvette Z06, steam cars, supercars and the wonders of Pebble Beach
Fri, 12 Sep 2014While Jay Leno's Garage was conceived to highlight the wonders of The Big Chin's eponymous storage facility, Leno does occasionally get out an into the larger world. Pebble Beach and the festivities around Monterey recently provided a great excuse for a road trip, and Leno seemingly had a pretty full dance card.
In an episode aptly dubbed The Ultimate Car Week, our host takes us through a pretty representative selection of great things to see in and around Pebble. Starting with a ride-along in a steam car, Jay manages to check in on the latest McLaren supercar and drive the Alfa Romeo 4C along the way. Oh, and he takes a good look at the all-new Corvette Z06 (next to the original Z06) before hitting the Concourse d'Elegance, too.
Alfa Romeo C43 is ready for the 2023 Formula One season
Tue, Feb 7 2023Following rival Red Bull's lead, Alfa Romeo has become the second team to unveil the car it will race in the 2023 season of Formula One. (Haas has revealed its livery, but so far not the new season's car.) Called C43, the single-seater Alfa stands out from its predecessor with a new aerodynamic profile and a redesigned livery, among other changes. The C43's red and black livery is the work of the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile, which is the same design center that draws the storied Italian company's road cars. Alfa Romeo describes the C43 as an evolution of the C42, its predecessor, and it notes that a technical team led by Jan Monchaux developed it around a new, Ferrari-sourced power unit. It features several updates and numerous new parts, though full details haven't been released, and Alfa Romeo hopes the changes made to the C43 will allow its team to improve during the 2023 season. "This car is an evolution of last year's, reflecting the new regulations and introducing major changes in the areas where we found improvements to be needed. I hope it's going to be quicker than the successful car we had last year, that's what matters most, and more reliable as well: We have put a lot of effort in this direction," said Monchaux, the technical director of Alfa Romeo's Formula One team. Alfa Romeo will begin testing the C43 in Barcelona, Spain, in February, and it will then send the car to Bahrain for more testing ahead of the 2023 F1 season's first race. Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu will drive for Alfa Romeo during the upcoming season. And while the odds of non-professional drivers taking the C43 for a spin are low, anyone with or without a license will be able to drive it in the F1 2022 video game.
