1977 Alfa Romeo Spider In Excellent Condition - True Survivor Like Mbg & Triumph on 2040-cars

Here is an excellent, rust free true survivor car. You hear the term 'survivor' all the time but the term is usually used incorrectly. This unmolested car starts right up and runs terrific with an amazing exhaust note especially when you start winding her out - she screams. Has had very little annual mileage since 1976 or 1977. The car was manufactured in Aug. 1976 but is titled as a 1977 model year. It loves the curves and also the highway. Unlike my previous TR6, with this 5-speed car you are never running at high rpm on the highway and passing power is always on tap. The included Alfa Romero factory hard top is in excellent condition with only a small light scratch in the vinyl. The glass on the hard top and on the car is all excellent. The soft top is like brand new with excellent rear window. The original Alfa Romeo aluminum wheels are included as is the chrome Alfa luggage rack, jack, air conditioning unit and compressor (disconnected), the owners manual and a pile of receipts totaling quite a bit several hundred or over a thousand dollars. The alternator is quite new. The leather interior is quite good - there is a small hole in the passenger seat. The dual true side draft Weber cabs work great. The rotor, cap, wires and plugs are new. The car came up from Tennessee where it was originally purchased and spent the last 10 - 15 years here in Dallas, PA where it was only driven in the dry summer weather. The body has a few minor dents, dings and light scratches. The is a spot on the hood that look like a small split in the paint, perhaps from engine heat. There is a small crack in the dash. There is a small dent in the rear fender lip that was needs to be filled and smoothed, but is it NOT a rust hole, it is a minor dent. The floors are perfect as is the under side of the car. There is one or two small holes in the spare tire well which will be easy to repair. There is only a small paint bubble in the paint behind the right front wheel but is certainly not indicative of any major rocker rust as they are extremely solid and there is no where on the car where a magnet wont stick. I've agonized over selling this car since it is fully road worthy and antique plate/insurance eligible, but it will be much easier to sell then my 2 other project cars. The speedometer has stop working, but the mileage on the speedometer is 53,251 and the title reads 53,219. I bought the car last summer and have not driven it much at all as I am working on at 1974 TR6 and a 1946 Willys CJ2 project, but I put no more 400 - 500 miles on it. I was told the fix is not extremely difficult but haven't gotten to it. 2. The gas tank drips if it is more than apx. 1/3 full. I do not know if this is a hose or not. I simply do not fill it more than 1/3 full which is plenty of cruising time. 3. The oil pressure gauge isn't working, probably just the sending unit. (Temperature, fuel gauge and low fuel warning light work fine. Heat and defrost/fan work fine.) 4. The turn signal flasher isn't working so I must work the signal lever manually to signal a turn. This is probably just a matter of replacing the low-cost flasher but I'm not sure which part it is. 5. The passenger side wiper are is included but needs a new rubber. (cheap) 6. The car appears to have had an original color respray at some point in it's life and it is not extremely shiny, but it still looks great. 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Luggage Test | Time for an Italian vacation
Fri, Jul 24 2020When it comes to handling and being fun to drive, the 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia is right at the top. From its engaging and tossable Ti trim, to the totally bonkers Quadrifoglio, Alfa Romeo has some excellent options for those who love to drive. However, we aren’t exploring 0-60 mph times or steering feel today, so letÂ’s see how the Italian sedan holds up when it comes to suitcase stacking. Alfa Romeo doesnÂ’t list an official trunk capacity on its media website or its consumer-facing site, but itÂ’s very similar in size to the last luxury sedan I luggage tested: the 2020 Volvo S60. WeÂ’ll place the estimate to be around 12 cubic-feet. Just by eye-balling it, Alfa appears to be on the smaller side of the spectrum here, with its competition being the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and several others. Note that I use different equipment than Riswick out in Portland: Two carry-on suitcases sized (24 inches long, 15.5 wide, 10 deep); one carry-on suitcase (21.7L x 13.7W x 9 D); one medium-size suitcase you have to check (24.5L x 16.8W x 11.5D) and two larger, full-size suitcases (33.8L x 21.5W x 13D) and (28.1L x 18W x 10.5D). It's not a power trunk, but you can pop it via the fob, a button by the driver footwell or a button on the trunk itself. Once open, I started with the carry-on suitcases. All three of those fit when turned on their sides, but a fourth would be impossible to squeeze in using that formation. ThatÂ’s due to the GiuliaÂ’s trunk becoming more restrictive in both depth and width deeper inside of it. YouÂ’ll notice the curved intrusions at the back of the trunk pictured below. They make shoving a suitcase all the way back in there impossible, as there isnÂ’t enough space next to the other three suitcases. The opening itself is rather small, too, forcing me to contort the suitcases as I lay them in. Instead, I decided to stick the fancy bag (22L x 8.8W x 12D) in there. ItÂ’s smaller and better suited to the space that remains, fitting perfectly within that nook. ThatÂ’s not ideal, but plenty of room for two people on a longer getaway. Next up: full-size suitcases. One of them fit right in without issue, but the second full-sizer I use for testing would not. Once again, this is due to the width restrictions imposed by the trunk walls coming in on both sides at the back. I did manage to fit the medium-size suitcase next to the one full-sizer if both were turned on an angle.
2015 Alfa Romeo 4C First Drive [w/video]
Mon, Jun 16 2014The dissonance between first look and first wheel turn was jarring. Alfa Romeo had chosen a suitably hip venue in which to showcase the coupe that will mark the brand's honest-to-God return to the US market - a graffiti-festooned warehouse housing a boutique furniture company in San Francisco's Mission District. The curvilinear sports car proved a lovely stylistic counterpoint to its concrete and metal backdrop while feeling perfectly synced with the eye-watering square-footage prices of the environs. Where the young, rich, beautiful people gather, the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C will be a star. And wherever they drive, expect things to get pretty loud. No sooner had I doubled over, dropped into the driver's seat, and fired to life the Alfa's utterly raucous little 1.7-liter engine, did the 'symphony' of the 4C begin. An introductory note of an inevitable chin scrape as I pulled out of the hipster parking lot and into the street was quickly followed by the uncivilized racket of the engine warming up, with only wafer-thin glass to filter the hubbub just behind my head. At a cold idle, the sound isn't unlike what I'd imagine it would be like to live inside of a Volkswagen TDI engine bay. Thankfully, as traffic cleared and The City's streets turned swiftly into undulating coastal roads, the experiential delta between heartthrob looks and project-car manners started to shrink. Unlike the last Alfas to be sold en masse on our shores, this is no beautiful boulevardier. What the 4C is, however, is hot hell's own driver's car. On public backroads, the Alfa is nothing short of a scalpel. Last year, newly minted Infiniti PR maestro (and former Autoblog European editor) Matt Davis had the cheek to call the 4C a "baby 458." That's an awfully powerful endorsement for a $55k featherweight rocking a mid-mounted turbo four, but the setting of the bar so high wasn't without just cause. Despite gaining a few hundred pounds worth of thicker carbon fiber, heavier US-spec airbags, standard AC and audio equipment and the like, the handsome Alfa coupe really does live up to its Italian sports car roots. With respect to the punchy engine, it's that carbon fiber tub that really sets the stage for this coupe to handle and perform so brilliantly. Added weight noted, let us pause for a moment to note that the 4C still tips the scales at an improbable 2,465 pounds.
Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads
Fri, Sep 11 2015Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring.
