It is a widely regarded fact that an Alfa Romeo is something that every human ought to own at some point in his or her life. They are fine examples of Italian craftsmanship and engineering, providing excitement and sensual pleasure--a dashing spark in a world full of mundane vehicles. Dustin Hoffman had one in The Graduate, and it worked particularly well for charming his girlfriend's mother, if you're into that kind of stuff. The particular specimen I am selling here is none other than a spectacular 1974 Spider 2000 INIEZIONE in Rosso Corsa--the color of passion. It has just over 100,000 miles and has been lovingly cared for by both its owners over the past 39 years. The paint shines like the sunset in Milan and the seats have been reupholstered in leather that even the most discerning Italian coachbuilder--or carrozzeria, as they say over there--would approve. It roars to life every morning and sounds just like the old fighter planes did over the Adriatic. Why am I selling this magnificent piece of machinery? I liked it so much that I bought another one as a project, so I'm selling the one that is already complete. Specification- 1974 Spider 2000 INIEZIONE Recent maintenance/upgrades: -under carpet heat shielding / sound deadening -custom carpeting with black piping. -All electrics/buttons/lights work -3tone loud horn upgrade very fitting for the car. -Rebuilt seats from the frames up, Nicer than the original. -Recently replaced convertible top (no leak tears or marks, I personally NEVER put it up but the window is clear as the day it was installed) -Motor mounts replaced -battery cables replaced -water pump, hoses, thermostat replaced (not that it needed it, but more of a safety precaution) -Spare SPICA fuel injection filter -Fuel filters -Cigarette lighter conversion to standard size to be able to charge phone ( easily converted back to original spec) -Injection oil filter -All Fluids etc. -Radiator flush -Electric fuel pump -Spark plugs -fan belt -Tires (approx 400 miles on them) -Metal long and short arm clips for the fuel injection -lots of small failing gaskets/rubber parts were replaced -Refinished original campagnolo wheels + spare. -Paint done in the 90's but stored indoors and rarely driven so it looks great aside from 2-3 dings which a skilled PDR could fix right up Things to note: Also included 5spoked wheels that are in some of the other photos and an extra fuel injection pump, 2 sets of keys and a set of blanks, full gasket set. No rust found when carpets were pulled in the foot wells, and as far as I have seen the whole body is a RUST FREE example having spent all of its days indoors and in california. |

Watch Alfa Romeo's slightly suggestive lifestyle ad for the 4C
Sun, Jan 4 2015We haven't watched a car ad with this much European panache in quite some time - and let us be clear, we're using the phrase "European panache" in its marketing sense, which is code for "women in lingerie." But it's Alfa Romeo and it's Italy and it's the 4C and what else would we ever have expected? Alfa Romeo USA has posted a two-minute spot talking up the technology and capabilities of the of 4C, with beauty shots of the car augmented by an amorous pantomime between two beautiful people wearing a whisper of clothing and some un-subtle editing; like when the phrase "pure seduction" is matched to the 4C's rear end and... some lovely lady lumps. It's totally safe for work, but that doesn't mean you want it rolling when the boss walks by. And speaking of the above phrase, we're wondering if the coupe's exterior designers signed off on "The inexplicable design of the 4C is pure seduction." Inexplicable? Check it out in the video above.

The Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio set a lap record at Silverstone with someone driving blind
Mon, Nov 21 2016Alfa Romeo announced today that its Giulia Quadrifoglio super sedan set a new lap record at Silverstone that nearly matched one put down by one of its Formula 1 cars in 1951. The F1 car set a time of 1:44, and the Giulia finished in 1:44.3. That may seem a bit slow for a modern 505-horsepower sports sedan, but it makes more sense when you realize the Giulia in question had black vinyl over the windows to keep the driver, Ed Morris, from seeing where he was going. Apparently Alfa thinks a clear view makes driving too easy. To get around the substantial handicap, Morris was assisted by directions from another driver in a following Giulia Quadrifoglio. The other driver, David Brise, radioed directions to Morris to get him around the track – and avoid crashing. Over the course of two days, the duo got the hang of it and set the aforementioned lap time. They even reached speeds of over 100 mph. You can see them practicing and setting the time in the video above. It was a cute record to set, but we're hoping blindfolded Nurburgring laps aren't next. Related Video:
