Original condition, unmolested, virtually rust free, with only 3 previous owners;  always garaged in heated garage, long time family owned, given caring maintenance when needed.  Being sold by military helicopter Pilot whose primary concern with this rare Alfa is  "safety first". Recent maintenance costs exceeded $ 3,000 this month to prep the Spider for another caring owner.

Clear Oregon Title, and the 4 Original Chromodora Alloys go with the sale ("Powder-coated" Black) , as well as the original steering wheel, and 1971 Alfa Spider Owner's manual.  This is not a "Trailer Queen" having participated in many rallys through the years of ownership by Father and son.  It is a stiff handling Spider with no squeaks or rattles, Very TIGHT suspension, Excellent 5 speed gearbox, new Top, new windshield, EVERYthing works as new.  The 2 speed heater/defrost works excellent, as do the wipers, head and tail lights , and turn signals ALL work.  Brakes are perfect as is the steering very precise.  The Brakes were "Bled" today (3 July) and tires and wheels balanced.  Original door panels.  Excellent oil pressure, NEVER any over heating, and great compression.  (Please see picture showing the triple dash guages and the Temp and Oil Pressure guages "at Speed") The original seat belts work just fine;  engine was rebuilt about 25 K miles ago.  5 speed gearbox works perfectly, no grinding or popping out of any gear;  Clutch is EXCELLENT- no slipping;  Tires are 195's with about 85% tread left.  No curb rash on the alloy wheels.           Improvements in the LAST 30 days are as follows:

New leather Black seats

New Momo style steering wheel

New stayfast top

New Front windshield

New OEM accelerator pedal

New OEM fuel tank sending unit

*Glove Box is like new with light, no cracked dash, body is very good and paint is also very good with a nice luster.  All electicals work as do ALL the guages.  This Alfa Veloce  is VERY dependable and starts easily/ the original Spica fuel injection works perfectly. Oil was just changed,  with a new filter.

The seller may be reached at 415-420-1898,  and will also be available to help with shipping.  Seller reserves the right to end auction early due to other potential buyers from seller's Alfa Clubs membership.  As customary, the Spider is being sold "as is" with no implied warranties due its 44 years old !!   (However, please note all the new maintenance items listed- there is NOTHING more to do to it !)  You will be very pleased with the way this Alfa Spider drives,  and how firm the suspension is.  A  G R E A T Alfa !

Alfa Romeo recalls Giulia and Stelvio — cruise control can go haywire

Fri, Mar 8 2019

DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 60,000 cars and SUVs worldwide because they can keep going on cruise control or accelerate even after a driver taps the brakes. The recall covers certain Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio models from 2017 through 2019. The company says a software error caused the problem, and it's advising people not to use the adaptive cruise control until it's repaired. The feature keeps moving vehicles a set distance from the cars in front of them. Fiat Chrysler says it's not aware of any crashes or injuries from the problem. Adaptive cruise control can still be turned off by stepping on the brakes for a longer time. Owners will be notified next month when they can schedule an update to the brake system software.

Alfa Romeo 4C coupe will be gone for 2019, but the Spider lives on

Thu, Jun 28 2018

This post has been updated with confirmation from Alfa Romeo. Not with an expensive bang, but a barely audible whimper: That's the way Alfa Romeo's 4C sports coupe goes out. The slow-selling mid-engined car has been cut from the lineup for next year. An Alfa Romeo spokesperson has confirmed to Autoblog that the 4C coupe will be gone from Alfa's U.S. portfolio after the 2018 model year. It will remain for sale in this country while supplies last, and will still be produced for other markets around the world. View 12 Photos The 4C never sold in enormous numbers during its 2014-on tenure, but monthly sales have slowed down to just a couple dozen cars in the past year. In January, 12 were sold, with October 2017 a particular high point with 45 units delivered. By contrast, the strongest month was January 2015 with 97 4Cs sold. Not a single month has seen three-figure U.S. sales. Those sales figures seem to cover both 4C models, so we can only assume the coupe was the weaker part of those numbers. However, if a 4C is what you want, you don't have to give up on the dream. The open-topped Spider version remains on sale, but Motor Authority reports that it gets a $1,000 price hike for next year, to $66,900; at $55,900 the coupe was $10,000 cheaper than the open version, so those wanting one should act on it quickly. In addition, the racing-oriented Track Package will be unavailable after 2018. That included handling improvements like sturdier sway bars and better shocks, along with sportier wheels and tires. Alfa Romeo Caimano concept is peak Seventies wedge design

Mon, Feb 1 2016

This weekend, the Bremen Classic Motor Show will be opening its doors with a "wedgetastic" theme, highlighted by the Alfa Romeo Caimano concept you see here. Alfa Romeo commissioned Giorgetto Giugiaro and his then-newly established Italdesign firm to cook up the Caimano concept for the 1971 Turin Motor Show. It was based on the Alfasud (also designed by Giugiaro) but shortened the chassis by nearly 8 inches and fitted with entirely different bodywork that made it look like it was from another planet. The canopy greenhouse eliminated the A pillar, with the B and C pillars forming a trapezoidal roll bar at the back, capped by an adjustable spoiler. Inside the cockpit were two recumbent bucket seats, a cylindrical dashboard, and two small openings in the glass canopy for ventilation. Of course it also had pop-up headlights, and it was powered by the 1.2-liter boxer for from the Alfasud, good for all of 68 horsepower. Striking though it may have been at the time, it shouldn't come as a surprise that only one example was ever built, and it remains in the Alfa Romeo museum in Milan. The company is taking it out of the collection, however, and bringing it to Bremen for the show. Alongside it, showgoers can expect to see such other "wedgetastic" creations of yesteryear as the Lancia Stratos, Maserati Khamsin, Lamborghini Countach, Mercedes C111, and the BMW Turbo X1 (which previewed the M1 to follow). Little surprise that most of these wedge designs were penned by either Giugiaro or by Marcello Gandini for Bertone. Along with Lionardo Fioravanti (of Pininfarina fame), they were each born in Italy in 1938 within months of each other, and went on to dominate Italian automotive design over the course of their careers. It will bring together some 650 exhibitors in eight halls covering an area of over 45,000 square metres.
