I have for sale a very special Montreal. Montreals are special as is, with its 4 cam dry sump 230HP engine, ZF
transmission, and arguably the most exotic lines Alfa introduced for production. But like I said this car is a very
special Montreal. This Montreal, serial # 1425102 is the second car built, the earliest car in private hands, (its
sister car, #5101 is in the Alfa museum) known as a pre-production prototype, with many features unique only to
#5101 and #5102. That being said should be enough to distinguish this car from the rest. But like I said, this car
is special. #5102 is the very car that was chosen to be unvailed and represent. Alfa Romeo at the famed Geneva
Salon Auto Show in 1970. This car was manufactured in very early 1970 but Alfa "officially" dates production as Jan
29, 1971, same as its sister car in Arese. The Alfa factory retained these cars for promotional purposes and were
shown together in many publicity photos worldwide, gracing the cover of April 1970 magazine "IL Quadrifoglio". In
1977, Alfa sold # 5102 when the production of Montreals ended and all its inventory sold. The first to own was an
Italian collector who sold it to a Swiss collector in the early 1980's. In 2001 I bought it from the 3rd (Swiss)
owner who owned it for 11 years and I imported it into the United States.
This car is in nice presentable condition, originally Metallic Green it wears the Orange you see now, ( orange was
the most popular color for Montreals) repainted by it 2nd owner. The motor starts quickly every time and idles
beatifully even when cold. The previous owner installed 4 new camshafts and it pulls strong right up to its redline
without missing a beat making all the wonderfull noises a 4 cam motor makes. The ZF transmission with its short
throws, shifts quick and precise, nothing at all like a 4 cylinder Alfa transmission. The rear differential with
its finned magnesium sump cooler works properly. The interior is in nice shape with a beautiful new set of wool
carpets. The suspension has lower and slightly stiffer springs with bilstein gas shocks to improve its handling.
The original front brake calipers were replaced with ones originally designed for the Alfa Sei sedan, having 4
pistons instead of 2 to considerably improve braking power.)

Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus

2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale previewed ahead of February unveiling

Fri, Jan 28 2022

After a false start, Alfa Romeo is finally ready to introduce the production version of the Tonale concept it presented in 2019. It released a short video on its social media channels to preview the model, which will be positioned below the Stelvio as an entry-level crossover. The murky, 12-second flick highlights the Tonale's digital instrument cluster, which features a layout called "cannocchiale" ("telescope" in Italian) by the brand. It seemingly consists of a screen flanked by a pair of round dials, and it's loosely inspired by the layout found in some of Alfa's classic models. Later examples of the 115-series GTV used a pair of large analog gauges separated by warning lights and smaller gauges. Discover driver-centric design in the cockpit of the new #AlfaRomeoTonale, featuring the multi-functional “Cannocchiale” cluster. “La Metamorfosi” begins February 8th. https://t.co/7tknJCcFTR pic.twitter.com/dh7o9BUwBq — Alfa Romeo USA (@AlfaRomeoUSA) January 26, 2022 What's more interesting than the cluster is the image of the Tonale that appears on the middle screen. Shown above, it's our first official look at the Stelvio's baby brother. Surprisingly, the crossover shares more styling cues with the 2019 concept than with the prototype spotted at a design clinic later that year. The shape of the grille hasn't changed much, and there are three U-shaped LEDs integrated into each headlight. The rest of the design remains shrouded in darkness. Our crystal ball tells us that the production model will look a lot like a toned-down version of the concept; we're not expecting the proportions to significantly change. Unverified rumors claim that the Tonale will be closely related to the Jeep Compass beneath the sheetmetal, and it will be offered with several engines and at least one plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It's this system that sources say delayed the launch: Alfa Romeo's boss reportedly sent engineers back to the drawing board in April 2021. Alfa Romeo will unveil the Tonale online on February 8, 2022, at 9 a.m. ET, which is 6 a.m. in California. And, while the odds of seeing it on our shores were previously unknown, Alfa Romeo's American division all but confirmed in a tweet that the model will be sold here. Related video:

Mazda and Fiat finalize deal for Alfa roadster, next-gen MX-5 Miata

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

Although a little bit later than expected, Mazda and Fiat have signed a final agreement that will bring a next-generation MX-5 Miata to the Japanese automaker and a new roadster to Alfa Romeo. When the proposed arrangement was announced back in May, the two automakers had hoped to seal the deal last year, but it doesn't appear that the production timeline for these cars has slipped any, with both expected to start rolling off assembly lines in 2015.
Other than a shared chassis with a rear-wheel-drive layout, it sounds like the two cars are still planned to be distinct in their own ways from their styling right down to their engines. Mazda will produce both cars at a plant in Hiroshima, Japan, but it isn't clear what role each automaker will play in the cars' developmental process. The big question, of course, is what clever portmanteau name we can come up with, like Toyobaru. Mazda Romeo is the easy choice, but Alfazda might roll off the tongue a little better.
Scroll down for a brief press release from both automakers.
