1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce on 2040-cars
Laconia, New Hampshire, United States
You are bidding on a 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce that has been in storage since 1987. The engine ran fine and the transmission shifted smoothly with no syncro issues when put in storage. The engine currently turns freely but has not been started. The car rolls freely but has no brakes. The clutch master cylinder is seized and I do not know the condition of the clutch slave cylinder or other clutch parts. Due to the length of time in storage the car will need work in order to become road worthy and bidders should consider this car a "project" car in need of restoration. I purchased the car in 1986 and shortly afterwards had a body shop repair the rocker panels and rear wheel arches with metal parts from International Auto Parts. The rocker area was not repaired in the factory style and the joint on the door sill reflects poor workmanship as can be seen from the photos. I believe they made the rocker area structurally sound but I am making no representation whatsoever regarding any structural aspect of the car. Auto body filler was used on the inside of the rear wheel arches. The body shop painted the car and there is overspray and "orange peal" in some areas, they also used epoxy and fiberglass cloth for some patches, some of which can be seen in the photos. Bidders should conduct their own examination of the vehicle or make allowances in their bid price to repair areas traditionally subject to rust in Alfa Romeos of this vintage. This car is substanitally complete. It has the 1750 engine ( number 00551.2514) with the Spica fuel injection. The car was originally white. but red when I purchased it. I believe the only missing parts are the lense to the backup light, tool kit , pull tab on the glove compartment door and the fan shroud, one hub cap is damaged. The car still has the cross bar between the front bumpers and the ridgeline above the grill. It does not appear that it has ever sustained any front collision damage other than some small dents in the grill. All bumpers are in good condition with no significant dents and the car still has the "lolipop" reflectors in the rear as can be seen in the photos. On close inspection one can see that the rear edge of the trunk is not quite right and probably sustained some damage. There is also some rust under the rear edge of the trunk. The car comes with a new carpet kit which has not been installed - the carpet was only put in place for photographs and has not been permanently attached. I am at least the third owner. I have some invoices from prior owners going back to 1977 and an odometer reading of 46,530 miles. One invoice shows that in 1981 at 68,449 miles the engine was rebuilt by Gaston Andrey Inc., an Alfa dealer in the Boston area. Car has optional hardtop. This model Alfa Romeo is hard to find and increasing in value. Well restored examples are being advertised in the $30,000 range. Despite the short commings this car has I believe it is a good candidate for restoration. Alternatively, one could bring it up to daily driver condition with the thought of a full restoration at a later date. This car is offered AS IS with no guarantee of any nature. The buyer is responsible for any and all shipping costs. It is the responsibility of anyone bidding on this car to satisfy themselves as to its condition prior to bidding. Although the seller has tried to acurately describe the condition of this vehicle, and present representative photos, the seller accepts no liability whatsoever for inaccuracies, errors or omissions. The car has Pirelli P4 tires which were new 25 years ago and the successful bidder is responsible for determining if they are road worthy.

Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato briefly teased, could be a coupe
Mon, Dec 19 2022Earlier this month, Alfa Romeo and Zagato teased the upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato with a single image of an unbroken LED taillight outlining what looked like a Kamm-back rear end. Zagato recently published a few more teasers to its Instagram page, but someone might have pressed the Send button too soon — the video and images are gone from the source. No matter, because this is the internet. The new shots hint at something that could justify Alfa Romeo boss Jean-Philippe Imparato's assessment that the vehicle will be "very exciting, very selective, and very expensive." The image with the carbon-backed driver's seat contains a new rear window shutline and a crossbar. The redrawn glasshouse leads us to believe this will be a coupe, making the most of that Short Wheelbase designation. Some have called the crossbar a roll cage, but it looks to us like the kind of brace used in some cars that omit their rear seats, like the original Bentley Continental GT Supersports. The engine shot doesn't give anything away except the Quadrifoglio badge. The twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 could come with the same 505 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque as the Giulia Quadrifoglio, it could be uprated to the 532 hp and 442 lb-ft of the special edition Giulia GTAm, or, as buyers would hope, it could go beyond that. We'd expect the output to be sent through Alfa's eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. Zagato standards like new mesh vents and a vented hood make their appearances elsewhere. The grille gets printed with a stylized version of the red cross and crowned viper in Alfa Romeo's logo between the tri-section headlights that should debut on the facelifted Giulia. In back, a closer shot of the taillights gives away segments between LEDs, so the rear end won't be a continuous clamshell piece like the vintage Giulia TZ and Giulia TZ2. Detail bits like a carbon fiber front splitter and another take on the five-leaf-clover wheels from the Giulia GTA will make for dark and shiny jewelry. The Giulia TZ debuted in 1963, the Giulia SWB Zagato will be the 50th birthday present to the original. Market launch is rumored to come in March next year, an official debut should come not long before that. Â
Alfa Romeo Giulia leaks early
Tue, Jun 23 2015The new Alfa Romeo Giulia is set to debut June 24, but the eagle-eyed folks at CarScoops already found these two somewhat blurry shots of the upcoming sedan. While there's unfortunately no photo of the front, these images give an idea of what to expect from Alfa's future four-door challenger to the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. According to CarScoops, this is the Quadrifoglio Verde performance trim, and the blurry profile images certainly appear to show that insignia on the front fender. Don't worry about the mouthful of a name, though, because the far less vowel-filled Cloverleaf moniker is reportedly being used in some markets. Beyond the badge, this crimson Giulia has a short deck at the rear and large fender flares. Vents cut into the fenders also communicate the model's sporty intentions. The rear shot shows angular taillights and dual exhausts nestled in a diffuser down below. The Giulia badge is clearly visible, and there's a contrasting black lip spoiler running along the edge of the trunk. A set of black wheels completes the performance-tuned look. For now, hard facts about the Giulia's mechanical details remain largely a mystery. The engine range reportedly includes a V6 with some relation to Ferrari that possibly pumps out around 480 horsepower, and a turbocharged four-cylinder might also be available. Some portions of the chassis are rumored to be borrowed from the Maserati Ghibli, as well. A crossover sharing the same platform may join Alfa's lineup in 2016. Related Video:
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is new SUV king of the 'Ring
Fri, Sep 29 2017It's been a couple years since the last Nurburgring SUV lap record was set by the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, a quick time of 7 minutes and 59 seconds making it the first SUV to pull off a sub-8 minute time. The Cayenne's glory days are over, though, as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio just obliterated that time. Alfa's wild SUV with its Ferrari-based 510-horsepower twin-turbo V6 managed to whip around the north loop of the 'Ring in just 7 minutes and 51 seconds. Not only does that make it 8 seconds quicker than the Cayenne, it's an insane 23 seconds faster than the Land Rover Range Rover SVR, the record holder before Porsche. The Stelvio also was working with a notable power disadvantage compared with the Cayenne and the Range Rover. The Porsche packed 565 horsepower, and the Land Rover had 542 horsepower. View 9 Photos Alfa Romeo also got the whole lap on film, which you can view up above. The video also shows that the Stelvio had an aftermarket roll cage fitted for an extra layer of safety. Alfa didn't say anything about how that might affect performance or what may have been done to offset it. But as we always point out with these records, they shouldn't be taken too seriously, especially for the SUV segment, in which we can virtually guarantee no one will be attempting to replicate this lap time with their personal Stelvios.
