Old school classic Italian sports car. 4 cyl 120 hp, 5 speed manual avg 25-28 mpg. Also known as a Poor Man's Ferrari. Wonderful and fun car to drive. Been a daily driver for the last 2 years The positives: Strong engine and transmission. Excellent brakes and new tires this past spring. New catalytic converter. CD radio.Looks good with decent paint in the correct Alfa Metalic Blue #370 only minor dings from regular use. Interior is decent and not torn up. Power windows work fine. Wipers work fine. Original seatbelts replaced with standard over the shoulder belts. Head lights, etc. work except for the turn signals. The nagatives: The top is old and worn but useable. Should be replaced to make the car look really good. The turn signals stopped working, The air condition system is there and functions but will need an update and recharge. Speedometer dosent work, but the odometer trips the miles. Alternator is new a couple years ago and puts out 13.5 v , but the the volt meter on the dash does not read properly. Power mirrrors don't function and need to adjust mirrors by hand. Hand brake doesn't hold very well anymore. One of the trunk hinges came off so I use a support to hold trunk up. The car has normal wear and tear reflecting regular use and age. Has approx 134,500 miles If someone wants a nice car to drive and continue the restoration this is it at a fair price well below NADA book value. I'll be glad to answer any questions. Thanks for looking. Note: If winning bidder does not want the car at the time of inspection and prior to delivery I will make a full refund. |

Marchionne to make Alfa Romeo a separate company within Fiat
Mon, 28 Apr 2014According to a report in Automotive News that quotes "people familiar with the matter," the next big play in Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne's plan for Alfa Romeo is to break it off from Fiat Group Automobiles and set it up as a separate company within the Fiat empire, giving it the same structure as Ferrari and Maserati. The idea, say the sources, is that a transparent, standalone Alfa Romeo that has to justify its every move could clearly prove its success in the public financial statements it would have to report, finally achieving Marchionne's aim of making Alfa Romeo "a credible business proposition."
That, of course, assumes that Alfa Romeo will make a success of it. The brand hasn't made a profit in any year of Marchionne's decade at the helm; sales last year fell to numbers not seen in almost half a century and its new product offensive might not include the two vehicles currently responsible for 99 percent of its sales. We're told that the brand's six new models will begin arriving in 2016 - a roadster, a midsize sedan and large sedan, a compact SUV and large SUV, and a large coupe.
Marchionne aims to expand Alfa's global appeal in several ways, the first by stressing that they are Italian products that 'belong' to Italy. This is the stance that appears to have put the kibosh on the roadster twinned with the coming Mazda MX-5/Miata. Alfa Romeos will all be made in their home country, and if they take off they'll help bandage Fiat's problem with underused plant capacity, a bugbear that is just as problematic culturally and politically as financially. Top-tier trims would use V6 engines developed by Ferrari, and global access would get a boost by selling Alfa Romeos in Jeep's 1,700 international dealerships.
Next Mazda MX-5 Miata headed for 2015 Chicago debut
Fri, 17 Jan 2014Twenty-six years after it was introduced at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, the much anticipated fourth generation Mazda MX-5 Miata will meet the press at the 2015 Chicago show. A piece in Autocar refines some of the details on the larger, lighter Miata that a Mazda insider has said will be "our best-looking car ever."
The company has relented on the quest for the metric tonne, the 1000-kilogram (2,200-pound) target too difficult to achieve in light of cost constraints. You can still expect it to lose a generous dollop of weight - Autocar says a curb weight of 1,100 kg (2,420 pounds) will still make it the lightest in its class. And Mazda will be stressing a fun driving experience through light weight and a modest amount of naturally-aspirated horsepower. Engine capacities of 1.5 and 2.0 liters are expected. Sounds familiar (and good), right?
The Miata's interpretation of Kodo design will be veer from that found on the Mazda3 and Mazda6, with "very clean and simple" lines marking out "more muscular proportions" and elongated bodywork on a longer wheelbase. A stretched engine bay will make room for the current Skyactiv engine and perhaps the future Skyactiv 2 powerplants, initial reports suggesting there could be a 30-percent increase in fuel economy from the moment it arrives.
Alfa Romeo to launch eight new products by 2018, increase sales to 400K units
Tue, 06 May 2014
Alfa Romeo will go back to being the brand people admire, according to CEO Harald Wester.
After a few streams of news on the various brands in the Fiat Chrysler family, here's the deluge we've been waiting for - Alfa Romeo. The legendary Italian brand is being pointed towards a renaissance, as shown by the brand's five-year plan.
