88 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce No Reserve on 2040-cars

I bought this car a little over 2 years ago with 114,000 miles and it has been my daily driver since and now shows 140,000 miles. A couple of weeks ago in my infinite wisdom I added a can of fuel injector cleaner to the fuel system and now the car has an intermittent miss. I'll be running along smoothly and out of nowhere it will miss, sometimes it will clear and everything will be fine, and sometimes it will give me fits until it clears up. My problem is that I no longer have a garage, or a place to properly attend to the car. I believe the problem is fuel supply ( I changed the fuel filter, didn't help), and thinking that some particles from the fuel line has partially pluged an injector, or carbon is trying to clean out the valves and the pistons and this is causing the miss. The only other possibilities I can think of is that I put an aftermarket catalytic converter on last year and its starting to clog, or perhaps I have a vacumn leak (original vacumn hoses). In any case I can't afford to have a shop look at the car, and I don't trust and shop that doesn't know their way around Alfas. So if you're out there and still interested at the starting bid, here are some more details about the car.

The body is in very good shape except for some bondo work around the rockers. I painted the car myself last year (first time) and its OK, but could use a repaint if you're a perfectionest. The leather interior is good with two small holes forming in the drivers seat from daily use. Typical two cracks on the dash alonf the vents.. The speedodometer does not read true, and neither does the volt guage (although the alternator is puting out 13 1/2 volts when checked at the batter). The air conditioner is original and needs to be upgraded, power mirrors do not function. New Falcon 195/65 tires last year, new top this year. One of the trunk spring retainers is bent, so I use a brace to keep the trunk open. In general the interior is in good shape considering its daily use. The car is complete,by that I mean no missing parts and all else is working fine.

I'm still driving the car, and by the time the car is sold the problem may be solved. Regardless, I'm still selling as I can't give the car the attention it needs.

Note: I have car for sale locally and reserve the right to end auction early.

Marchionne threatens to move Alfa production out of Italy

Fri, 12 Jul 2013

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne was unsurprisingly frank when asked by reporters about potential investments in Italian manufacturing for Alfa Romeo and Maserati, giving the Italian government the ultimatum, "Italy should decide if they want [Alfa Romeo's relaunch] to happen here or not as Fiat and Chrysler have several alternatives." Them's fightin' words.
Fiat's issue with the government stems directly from its courtroom clashes with the Fiom labor union. The two are currently embroiled in proceedings over longer shifts and shorter breaks, as Fiom has so far refused to sign a new contract citing revised labor laws that it says are anti-union.
According to Bloomberg, Fiat will be spending over $2.5 billion on development of eight new Alfas and six new Maseratis, in a bid to wrest some of the luxury pie away from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. But that's only going to happen if the government is willing to play ball and make life easier on Fiat.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, you've no doubt read about all of the big future product news coming out of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles today. Leno samples Corvette Z06, steam cars, supercars and the wonders of Pebble Beach

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

While Jay Leno's Garage was conceived to highlight the wonders of The Big Chin's eponymous storage facility, Leno does occasionally get out an into the larger world. Pebble Beach and the festivities around Monterey recently provided a great excuse for a road trip, and Leno seemingly had a pretty full dance card.
In an episode aptly dubbed The Ultimate Car Week, our host takes us through a pretty representative selection of great things to see in and around Pebble. Starting with a ride-along in a steam car, Jay manages to check in on the latest McLaren supercar and drive the Alfa Romeo 4C along the way. Oh, and he takes a good look at the all-new Corvette Z06 (next to the original Z06) before hitting the Concourse d'Elegance, too.
