This 91 generation 4 Alfa Spider  and drives great. Gets lots of compliments wherever I go- most people don't even know what an Alfa Romeo .  The gen 4 (1991-94) Spiders offer Bosch fuel injection, some styling and other  upgrades making it comfortable yet fun to drive. The engine starts right up, no smoking, trans shifts fine (no second gear crunch common on these) and drives fine. Recent maintenance includes new master cylinder, battery, A/C charge, headlight stone guards,  and oil change. Tires have plenty  of tread, and the spare is also 5 star Alfa Mag, with a brand new tire. I have the original tool kit in back, jack, and owner's manual.

Body  is very  nice with just a few normal dings and scratches commensurate with 110000 miles and 22 years of driving. Virtually  rust free, the exception being a couple small bubbles on the windshield wiper cowl as shown.  Trunk is very  clean and rust free. Interior is nice, shows normal minor wear. seats appear to have been dyed at some time, looks very  good. Gauges work except the tach- never did work while I've had it. Oil pressure gauge drops after driving a while, but I'm told this is common with these, and I had a mechanic check it with a separate gauge, and oil pressure is fine, even after long idle here in the Florida heat. A/C works, radio and power antenna works. Horns just quit recently- haven't had them checked. Top is very good shape-  no issues- ( I never use it-  as I only  drive it on nice days, and it sits in my  garage top down). Back window is clear.

I bought the car from an Alfa collector in MO- he bought it here in Fl and hardly  drove it. Failing health forced dispersal of his collection. I've been enjoying it but no longer have space for it.

I have tried to describe the car thoroughly- please realize it is not a show car, nor is it priced like one. It's a very  reliable, fun driver. As such, it is sold AS IS,where is-  buyers pays shipping, taxes , registration etc as required by  your state. It is currently titled in Florida in my  name.  I'm in SW Fl , between Sarasota and Fort Myers. You  are welcome to come see and drive it .

$500 deposit required at the close of the auction, with balance due in 7 days, cash or certified payment.

Lazzarini dreams up Ferrari-powered, Hennessey-tuned Alfa Romeo 4C

Wed, Nov 19 2014

If there are any two firms you could count on to shoehorn a Ferrari V8 into the back of an Alfa Romeo 4C, they would almost certainly be Lazzarini Design and Hennessey Performance. The former already dreamt up doing the same with a Fiat 500, and the latter has been shattering records with a similar conversion performed on a Lotus Elise to turn it into the Venom GT. What you see here is their lovechild. Designed by Lazzarini and enhanced by Hennessey, the 4C Definitiva does – at least in theory – what Maserati was not prepared to do: shoehorn a Ferrari-sourced V8 engine into the back of Alfa's nimble little sports car. The powerplant is borrowed from the Ferrari 458 Italia and tuned by Hennessey to produce a claimed 738 horsepower and 532 pound-feet of torque. In a package weighing just 2,100 pounds, that's said to be enough to propel Frankenstein's four-wheeled monster to 60 miles per hour in a scant 2.5 seconds and across the quarter-mile in 9.5 seconds at 137 mph. Those are LaFerrari levels of performance. As you can see, the engine transplant calls for a widened rear track, and is accompanied by more aggressive aero as well. Of course, the design may be little more than an idea at the moment, but Lazzarini is apparently looking for customers to commission the first examples, at a reported price of 260,000 euros, which is about five times the going rate for a stock 4C and more than Ferrari gets for the 458 Speciale. Whether it's worth that much is one question. Whether Lazzarini and Hennessey could actually deliver on the promise is an even bigger one. Alfa Romeo realigns product onslaught (again)

Wed, Jan 27 2016

After Sergio Marchionne announced an ambitious plan in May of 2014, Alfa Romeo has continued to struggle, pushing back launch dates and the debut of the models that would serve as the brand's new bedrock. And now it's happening again. A new investor relations document reveals that Alfa won't complete the debut of its new lineup until the middle of the next decade, and that FCA will be scaling back the brand's research and development, manufacturing, and product investments through 2018. The move is partially down to "uncertainties" in China, which gels with what we reported back in December. Alfa also needs extra time to "guarantee proper global distribution network execution," the document claims. As we've reported, the revised product cadence will still see the Giulia (pictured) and a new midsize utility vehicle hit dealers in 2016 and late 2016/early 2017, respectively. From there, Alfa is still aiming to flesh out its lineup with six more vehicles, including a fullsize sedan, two more utility vehicles, two "specialty" vehicles, and a hatchback. This new product strategy differs from the original Marchionne strategy in a few key ways. First, all of these vehicles were supposed to have been launched between May 2014 and sometime in 2018. Since it's 2016 and we can't even buy a Giulia yet, it's pretty clear that plan isn't going to happen. Instead, the six vehicles that will follow the Giulia and midsize CUV won't start arriving until 2017, with debuts continuing until at least 2020. The new product strategy also better reflects today's market. Gone are the two compact cars, and in their place is a single hatchback, arriving at the tail end of the brand's new product offensive. That might explain why the MiTo was given a stay of execution. It's no surprise to see a second utility vehicle in Alfa's plan, considering the way the segment has exploded in the past few years, while enthusiasts will likely welcome the idea of a second "specialty" vehicle. The brand's second midsize sedan has been pushed out, though, so the only Alfa four-door following the Giulia will be a fullsizer. As for Maserati, the investor relations PDF didn't list nearly as many specifics. As we've reported, FCA still expects the Levante CUV to be a growth leader for the brand by 2018. The performance brand's fortunes will also be bolstered by pairing its dealerships with those of Alfa Romeo. Related Video:

Mysterious Maserati test mule could be upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulia

Mon, Dec 8 2014

Well well well, what have we here? The truth is that we don't know. It seems to be a Maserati Ghibli, but since that model is already out on the market, we're likely looking at something else. Just what is the question, and the answer likely lies in the wheelbase. While this test mule, spied undergoing cold-weather testing in northern Sweden, is clearly wearing the bodywork (and likely most of the mechanical bits) from the Ghibli, it's riding on a shortened wheelbase. Which tells us this could be one of two things: it's likely to be a test mule either for the upcoming Maserati Alfieri sports car, or for the new Alfa Romeo Giulia. The Alfieri was presented in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show back in March, foreshadowing a new sports car to serve as a halo model in the Maserati lineup. The production version is expected to be smaller and nimbler than the existing GranTurismo and positioned against the likes of the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type and Mercedes-AMG GT, to name just a few. The Giulia, meanwhile, is slated to be the first all-new Alfa Romeo since the arrival of the 4C last year and the Italian marque's first mainstream model since the launch of the Giulietta in 2010. The new sedan is expected to go after the likes of the BMW 3 Series and the new Jaguar XE, slotting in below the larger Maserati Ghibli that seeks to challenge the 5 Series and XF. If this is indeed a test mule for the new Alfa sedan, the quad tailpipes would seem, as our spy photographers point out, to indicate it's laying the groundwork for the GTA performance version. One way or another, there's something enticing to be coming soon from Italy, so watch this space.
