1986 Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Spider VIN# ZARBA5416G1040180 Silver/Gray. This is the premium edition Quadrifoglio Spider that Alfa Romeo introduced to the US market in 1986. These were the most desirable of all the Spiders at the time. The Quads featured a new Front air dam, ground effects side skirts, a new rear spoiler, factory hardtop, new Alloy wheels plus a unique Quadrifoglio interior and more.... They came loaded from the factory.
The Quad we have on offer was just purchased by us this week. It's in good condition overall and we're looking to sell it now at a low price before we start doing any of the refurbishments it needs. Again, overall it's nice. The engine (ie., smooth, powerful, dry and no smoke nor noises...) and transmission (ie., synchro's, clutch etc .....all excellent) runs great. The body's clean and straight plus the paint is good too. Plus the fabric soft top was replaced about 5 years ago and is in excellent condition and the fit is perfect.
On the down side, the leather seats are shot and the skins need replacing. They had seat covers on them but we took them off. The belt is also off the A/C compressor ,so the A/C doesn't work. Other than those issues the car is in good condition overall. The car was also repainted about 10 years ago and still shows well.
It's a good entry level spider and not too expensive. Once we fix the A/C, replace the leather seat skins and detail the car, we'll be raising the price by a couple thousand dollars. So if you wanted to buy the car cheap now and either do this stuff yourself (at your leisure) or use it as is (we'll throw in the seat covers), this is the time. The cars currently at the Alfa Auto Clinic in Baldwin NY at 526 Merrick Rd in case you want to check it out yourself or have them go over the car for you they can. We'll leave it there for the duration of the auction and then we'll be brining the car up to our dealership (Forza) in Connecticut. We had the Alfa Auto Clinic checkout the car for us before we bought it and it's actually really nice (except for the seats) for a Alfa with 116k miles. You won't be disappointed.

Fiat reconsidering Mazda-based Alfa Romeo roadster? [w/poll]

With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.
Fiat Chrysler target 850k sales in China by 2018
Sun, 11 May 2014Behind the vanguard of numerous Jeep models, two Chryslers, a smattering of Fiats and Alfa Romeos and local production through a joint venture with Guangzhou Automotive Group (GAG), Fiat Chrysler wants to increase sales in China more than six-fold by 2018. The group sold 130,000 cars in China in 2013, the aim for 2018 being 850,000 cars.
Ultimately it's expected that the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Wrangler, Renegade, the coming Grand Wagoneer and a sub-Renegade-sized crossover will either be built in or exported to the People's Republic. The Chrysler Town & Country and 300 will join the export list in 2016 and 2018 respectively, according to a report in Automotive News.
With a number of those vehicles not in production or perhaps even envisaged yet, and others not due on the local market until 2018, it will be interesting to see how Fiat Chrysler plans to achieve the target in the specified timeframe. The joint venture with GAG builds two products now, the Dodge Dart-based Fiat Viaggio launched two years ago - supposedly designed just for China - and the just-launched Fiat Ottimo, a hatchback version of the Viaggio. Fiat projected 300,000 Viagio sales in its first two years, that number has been adjusted downward to 94,000 and there doesn't appear to be an analyst alive that sees a good future for Fiat in China's overrun mainstream market. Still, last year's 130,000 group sales in China is a huge jump from 2012 sales of 66,000 units, but less than half the 300,000 units it projected.
