Up for sale is a really nice 1982 Alfa spider.  After hounding my friend for over a year he finally agreed to sell me his Alfa.  My friend inherited the car from his mother who bought it brand new at the local dealership in PA.  After driving it for a very short time, she garaged it with little over 20,000 miles.  My friend got the car and drove it down to South Florida and did a minor restoration to get it back on the road and looking nice.  he car was re-sprayed to original factory color.  It looks like a dark gray /black or slate.  The interior is tan leather with tan/brown carpeting, all original.  After driving the car for several years he also garaged it after just 51,000 miles.  For a 32 year old car that's 1,600 per year!  I wanted a small project car that I could work on in my garage and this was it, no rust, lots of original owner paperwork and known history.  The PO did the following during his ownership:

  • paint job - several scratches and minor dents due to poor storage protection in garage
  • New exhaust system - factory OEM
  • New soft top - still looks new (I don't think he took the car out after installing it)
  • New fuel pump and filter
  • I have receipts showing he changed the oil every 1,000 miles
  • misc. upkeep, light bulbs, spark plugs, wires, etc.

Here is what I have done since buying the car just 3 months ago:

  • New battery
  • New fuel pump, fuel filter
  • Clean out gas tank and lines
  • New tires
  • rebuilt all 4 disk brakes
  • cleaned out all fuel injectors
  • New oil, oil filter, tranny fluid, rear end fluid

The Alfa is 100% road ready and I drive it on weekends.  why selling?? While I was waiting on my buddy to sell me this car I found another project that I like better.  A 1976 BMW 2002.  The Alfa is a great car but a bit small for me.  The car has A/C but does not work, power mirrors, 5-speed tranny (2nd synchro grinds a bit), no rust and need body side moldings as I took off the old ones that were glued on.  The Alfa looks sharp as you can see in the photos and the 2.0 Ltr motor runs strong with the Bosch fuel injection.  No smoke, no oil leaks, not a show queen but a nice driver that gets attention since you don't see them everyday.  If I was keeping the car I would do the following while I drove it:

  1. Try buffing out first to get the scratches out, minor body work to remove the dings and dents
  2. Recover the seats and dash
  3. Fix 2nd gear synchro

Im sure you will add to my list but the car is solid and any money you put into it will be a plus for you.  It's a 32 year old car and does not have any warranty.  Please email me any questions you may have and I will answer as soon as possible.  I am listing the car for sale and may remove from ebay auction in the event that I sell the car.

Thanks for looking and good luck.  The reserve price is low as I need the funds to pay for the other car.

Alfa Romeo won't sully the GTA name by putting it on the Stelvio

Wed, Apr 1 2020

Alfa Romeo began celebrating its 110th birthday by resurrecting the heritage-laced GTA nameplate on a track-happy evolution of the Giulia Quadrifoglio. Enthusiasts went wild when they heard the news, but the company warned it's not about to put the GTA name on every model it makes just to capitalize on its popularity. First launched in 1965, the GTA acronym has historically denoted a lighter version of an existing model developed with racing (or, at least, track use) in mind. The recently-unveiled Giulia GTA fits the bill; a Stelvio GTA wouldn't, according to the company. Executives thought long and hard about it and ultimately ruled it out. "GTA is an important name for Alfa Romeo. Frankly speaking, we had a meeting on a Stelvio GTA, but it's just not in line with customer expectations. It has to be the best possible [on the track]. On the Stelvio, we have a higher center of gravity [than on the Giulia], so it won't achieve the same goals," said Fabio Migliavacca, the company's product marketing boss, in a candid interview with British magazine Autocar. His comments suggest the 505-horsepower Quadrifoglio model is as hot as the Stelvio will get in the foreseeable future. There's no indication Alfa Romeo is planning to add a second sedan to its range — its next new model is widely believed to be a smaller crossover — so the GTA treatment will be limited to the Giulia (pictured). This could explain why demand for the car and its two-seater GTAm counterpart has been exceptionally high. The stripped-out, 540-horsepower sedans are limited to 500 numbered units combined worldwide. Alfa Romeo hasn't started taking orders yet, and it had the misfortune of unveiling the model mere days before the Italian government imposed an ongoing national coronavirus quarantine, but it has received more expressions of interest than it has build slots. Migliavacca revealed a majority of the enthusiasts the firm has heard from prefer the more hardcore GTAm over the slightly softer GTA. It's lighter, and consequently quicker around a track. "A lot of people are raising their hands and saying, 'I want to have one,' 'I want to have four,'" he said. "It's truly an amazing reaction considering the timing." Related Video:

Alfa Romeo 6C could return in 2020

Mon, Jan 22 2018

Keep your salt shaker handy, because you might need a grain or two for this rumor, as scrumptious as it may be. According to German tuner Pogea Racing, Alfa Romeo is planning to revive the 6C nameplate, with a production launch in 2020. The company posted its inside info on its Facebook page, citing "an absolute trustworthy and legit source" who is "very deep into the decisions of the management of Alfa Romeo." According to the post, we can expect to see the Alfa Romeo 6C introduced at one of the major auto shows in 2018 or 2019. If true, the rumor is exciting, but not totally surprising. FCA is growing its investment in the Italian brand, along with its lineup. We've already learned of Alfa's plans for an SUV larger than the Stelvio, which could offer seven seats and a mild hybrid system. The addition to the lineup of what we could assume to be a coupe larger and more expensive than the Alfa Romeo 4C, and meanwhile bringing back a classic nameplate, doesn't seem farfetched. After all, we've heard similar rumors before, with the 6C reportedly planned as a competitor to the Jaguar F-Type. Under the hood, the Giulia Quadrifoglio's 2.9-liter twin-turbo aluminum V6 — good for 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque — seems like the perfect fit for the 6C. The 6C nameplate has roots in six-cylinder road and racing cars beginning in the 1920s. To see it revived after decades of hibernation would not only be interesting for fans and potential customers, it would be symbolic of the company's continued growth under the FCA umbrella. Slow Chinese market delays Maserati and Alfa Romeo models

Thu, Dec 3 2015

We already told you that Alfa Romeo was delaying the Giulia sedan and an unnamed CUV, but now things are getting worse. According to Bloomberg, Maserati has delayed the Alfieri sports car. And it's all China's fault. The faltering Chinese domestic market, which is experiencing its slowest period of growth in nearly three decades, is forcing Fiat Chrysler to rethink its plans for its Italian models, Bloomberg reports. Rather than going for models that would likely be popular in China, including the Alfa CUV and a larger sedan, the company will shift its focus and bring out updated MiTo and Giulietta hatchbacks, both of which would play better in Europe, an unnamed source within FCA told Bloomberg. This news is notable because it shows that FCA boss Sergio Marchionne's ambitious product transformation is not progressing as smoothly as planned. In the MiTo's case, the company is willing to go back on its original strategy. The subcompact hatch wasn't supposed to survive beyond 2016, but Bloomberg is reporting an update is due by the middle of next year. As for Maserati, well, there's not much to say. The Alfieri was supposed to go on sale next year, and now it's not. There's no word on how (or even if) Maserati's priorities will shift to another vehicle, or if this is simply a matter of money being distributed away from one of FCA's brands and toward another.
