This is one of 2 Alfas i own. I currently have too many cars and need to sell 1. Also have a 92 Alfa, 73 Grandville, 87 Porsche. The Grandville is also for sale.
If you've never driven a stick shift Alfa, you must! The shift knob is on the dash next to the steering wheel like a race car. Just watch "The Graduate" I bought car a little over 1 year ago and gone about 1,500 miles - including on the highway to wisconsin a few times over 65 MPH. I am told i was the third owner of this car. the guy i bought it from owned it over 10 years and bought it from his boss, who bought it new. I have done much to clean up the car and add odds and ends. I have a new exhaust system which comes with car. i never had the chance to put it on. I also bought the entire engine gasket set and never put it on. I recently had the car into a mechanic that works on all my Euro Classics just to see what I had. He found the car to be in solid shape for its age and miles. He did reference a small leak in the slave cylinder for the clutch ($200 fix) and a squeaky caliper in the rear left wheel (couple hundred dollars). He mentioned neither one was major. I would likely fix both this winter if i keep the car. The Paint is OK for a 79. the shine is off the hood and there's a couple imperfections. I did my best to get pictures of those. One of the fenders has a green scratch on it and there are 2 or 3 small dents around the body. the hood is faded from the heat and has almost no clear coat left. The trunk and rear still shine nicely. The silver paint is actually easy to match, there is a chrysler silver that matches well. it would be an easy paint job on the hood. I'll likely do it this winter, if i keep the car. The carpet is original but faded. the floor mats are in nice shape. The front seats worn. bottoms are ripped. backs and headrest OK. rare Burgandy interior. Original Wooden Steering Wheel and Shift Knob are in excellent shape. I have a replacement black leather boot for the shift-knob. All the gauges work The previous owner put a CD Player in. it powers but i never got sound. likely a wiring issue. I did not want to mess with it, i enjoyed the sounds of the road anyways. Trunk is in OK shape. carpet nice. there was some rust in the spare tire pan. i sanded it down, primed and painted. there is 1 small hole but i cut out some of the worst rust there. I do have the spare and the jack. engine runs pretty well - i gave tune up. pretty clean overall under the hood. again, i have all new gaskets for it. would have put them in this winter, but if i can make room in the garage, i'll be happy too. shifts OK. sometimes 1st to 2nd can be a little scratchy but otherwise great. you do need to be sure to put the clutch all the way in but once you get used to it, it drives totally fine. if you do it right, you can still get it to chirp out of first and 2nd!! very solid for an old car, and again, ive had this over 65 and done some real driving - so there shouldnt be any major issues. original wheels are in excellent shape. they are the proper Alfa wheels, not the garbage you will find on the 80s and 90s versions. this car was garage kept its whole life. I bought it from a guy with a 3 car garage in River Forest. He drove it to work occasionally and on sundays. The car was not driven in winters. I did start it every 2 weeks or so in the winter - it fired right up every time! this was surprising because my porsche did not :( top in very nice shape. it is black. i do not believe the top is original - there's no way. has a back window. top goes up by hand and latches by hand. I have the original boot. it is burgandy and in awesome shape. it is missing 1 button so you have to take it off for highway driving. if you have a wife (i dont) maybe she can sew it back on ;) the rear bumper shows wear and has small cracks in the "elbow" area where it wraps the fenders. The door handles and resting spot for the hard top have pitting on chrome as is expected on a 35 year old car. This is a very fun car. if it doesnt sell, im going to continue to enjoy it this summer and do more work this winter. If it does sell, i hope it is to a happy home where it will be treated right and driven. If i keep the car, I will put in the new gaskets, put on the exhaust, get new carpet, have the seats redone, remove the dents, paint the hood, do the calipers and the slave cylinder. In that condition, the car is worth over $10,000 and it wouldn't take that much to get there. I have been as honest as possible about the car and i will not re-trade. I expect a $500 deposit via paypal within 24 hours of auction. The car is located in Chicago in one of my garages. i can show it to you almost any time. If you dont know how to drive stick, no, you cannot drive it. happy bidding! Actual mileage on car is 92,430. car had just over 91,000 miles when i bought it. this car turns heads. people often mistake it for an old ferrari or jaguar. you will do nothing but smile behind the wheel. 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia Estrema bridges the Quadrifoglio gap
Mon, Mar 28 2022Alfa Romeo is expanding the 2023 Giulia range with a model named Estrema that was developed for driving enthusiasts. Also available on the 2023 Stelvio, the Estrema trim level bridges the gap between the Veloce variants of both cars and the high-performance Quadrifoglio. "Estrema" is Italian for "extreme," and in this case it denotes a car that — in Alfa Romeo's words — was designed for "a connoisseur of driving." The list of standard features grows with the addition of a limited-slip rear differential and the adaptive Alfa Active Suspension system for both comfort and performance. These updates may not sound major, but they should make a perceptible difference on the kind of twisty roads that the Estrema models were created for. Car-spotters will be able to pick out the Estrema versions in a crowded parking lot by looking for carbon fiber exterior accents (including the piece of trim that underlines the grille), specific wheels that measure 19 inches on the Giulia and 21 inches on the Stelvio, dark "Estrema" emblems and black brake calipers. Inside, there's more carbon fiber, red contrast stitching and a blend of leather and Alcantara upholstery. The Estrema models aren't any more estrema under the hood than the versions that they're based on. The only engine available in the United States is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged to deliver 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel-drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission come standard on the Giulia, though Alfa Romeo's Q4 all-wheel-drive system is available at an extra cost, and the Stelvio is exclusively offered with all-wheel-drive. With the Q4 system, the Giulia reaches 60 mph from a stop in 5.1 seconds. On sale now, Alfa Romeo's Estrema models are scheduled to reach dealers across the nation in the third quarter of 2022. Buyers have four colors to choose from: Alfa White, Alfa Rosso, Misano Blue, and Vulcano Black. Pricing is set at $56,685 for the rear-wheel-drive Giulia, $58,685 for the all-wheel-drive model, and $60,545 for the Stelvio. Note that these figures include a mandatory $1,595 destination charge. Fiat Chrysler trademarks Kamal, likely for small Alfa CUV
Tue, May 10 2016We have Alfa Romeo news to share, and for once it's not about a product delay. Fiat Chrysler has trademarked the name Kamal and we think it will be used on one of two crossovers planned to follow the (delayed) Stelvio. Fiat Chrysler trademarked the name Kamal last month. Because trademark filings are intentionally vague, there is no specific brand attached to the application, only parent company FCA. The link to Alfa comes from a small CUV concept that used the name way back in 2003. If we had to wager, we'd say this one will be smaller than the midsize, Giulia-based Stelvio and could use a version of the same platform or whatever will underpin the brand's (eventual) small hatchback. It probably won't come in gold like the concept. We hope not, at least. Interestingly, there's no trademark for Stelvio in the US Patent and Trademark Office's database. That name was confirmed by Sergio Marchionne in February, but anyone familiar with recent Alfa news knows things change. And then they get pushed back and change again. About that waiting, though. Alfa's product plans have been made and amended, the gorgeous Giulia has been delayed, and now things seem to be on track. Maybe. Thu, Dec 8 2016Although the 4C has been on sale for more than a year, Alfa Romeo's US comeback tour really starts with the all-new Giulia. The car goes on sale this month and is expected to compete head to head with sport sedan competition from Germany, England, Japan, and America. The automaker released details on Giulia trims and pricing, and it appears to be right in the mix with the competition. The new Alfa Romeo Giulia starts at $38,990 with destination. While that's on the high side of its class, it's still right in the mix. All of the competition falls between the $34,445 BMW 3-Series and the $40,425 Mercedes-Benz C300. Where the Giulia really shines at this price point is performance, with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that generates 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. Alfa claims a 5.1 second 0-60 mph time for the base model, which trounces the competition. The big bad Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio starts at $73,595 with destination. That's quite a bit more than the BMW M3 and Cadillac ATS-V, but it's right on par with the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Sedan. The four-leaf clover has a 2.9-liter biturbo V6 that turns out 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. That's good for a 3.8 second 0-60 mph and a record-setting 7:32 Nurburgring lap time, if you care about such things. The standard Giulia and Giulia Ti ($40,990) are available with FCA's Q4 all-wheel-drive system for an extra $2,000. The Giulia Ti is available with Ti Lusso and Ti Sport packages for $2,250 each. Think of the Ti Sport as the Quadrifoglio light and the Ti Lusso as the comfortable and relaxed model. All versions of the Giulia come equipped with an 8-speed automatic, and Alfa Romeo currently has no plans to offer a stick shift in the US. The Giulia Quadrifoglio goes on sale this month, with the rest of the lineup hitting showrooms next month. If shoppers can look through the vast competition for what on paper is the sportiest of small sport sedans on the market, Alfa may be here to stay. Related Video:
