1977 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce - Project on 2040-cars

This car has been kept in the garage exclusively for the last 20 years except for short drives around the block when the engine permits. The 1977 spider has been an off and on project for me and my dad but we do not have time to enjoy the project any more. It has not seen much driving during that time so the mileage on the car is pretty low. The car's body looks great because the car rarely leaves the garage. The car includes a repair manual, as well as the original owners hand book. The Alfa Romeo owners Bible is also included in the sale of the car.
The Alf Romeo is a real joy to drive and it dose not have much or need much in the way of accessories. The car has a very old radio built in to it I am not sure if it was a factory installed item or not. The windows are all manual, the top is also operated by hand. It has a surprisingly large trunk for the size of the vehicle and it includes the factory jack and full size spare tire. The tires have plenty of tread on them but they are quite old but they hold air and run just fine. The car is not running in a drivable. The engine has good compression and it will turn over quite nicely and on occasion it will start and run for a few minuets but it is in no way reliable. This car is a project and is being sold as is. The car is amazing to drive when it is running correctly, it sounds great and responds well in the corners. This car is a great project for some one who likes to tinker. Marchionne threatens to move Alfa production out of Italy
Fri, 12 Jul 2013Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne was unsurprisingly frank when asked by reporters about potential investments in Italian manufacturing for Alfa Romeo and Maserati, giving the Italian government the ultimatum, "Italy should decide if they want [Alfa Romeo's relaunch] to happen here or not as Fiat and Chrysler have several alternatives." Them's fightin' words.
Fiat's issue with the government stems directly from its courtroom clashes with the Fiom labor union. The two are currently embroiled in proceedings over longer shifts and shorter breaks, as Fiom has so far refused to sign a new contract citing revised labor laws that it says are anti-union.
According to Bloomberg, Fiat will be spending over $2.5 billion on development of eight new Alfas and six new Maseratis, in a bid to wrest some of the luxury pie away from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. But that's only going to happen if the government is willing to play ball and make life easier on Fiat.

With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.
