WOW LOOK AT THIS! VERY RARE 1971 ALFA ROMEO 1750 SPIDER CONVERTIBLE CALIFORNIA CAR! THIS CAR IS VERY DESIRABLE WITH THE HIGHLY SOUGHT-AFTER "CAM TAIL" AND FEATURES MECHANICAL FUEL INJECTION! THIS CAR SHOWS JUST OVER 82k ON A WORKING ODOMETER.

The car was a barn-find, found a few years ago. Since that time, the owner spent lots of time and money on the car to make mechanically-sound and good looking. Here is some of the work that has been done:

  • NEW PAINT
  • NEW TOP
  • NEW BRAKES
  • NEW CALIPERS
  • NEW ROTORS
  • NEW PLUGS/WIRES
  • NEW DISTRIBUTOR CAP
  • NEW CONDENSER
  • NEW POINTS
  • NEW FUEL & AIR FILTER
  • RECONDITIONED RADIATOR
  • NEWER TIRES
  • NEWER BATTERY

The car looks great with the candy apple red exterior paint that has one heck of a shine! Mechanically, the car is very sound...it shifts great and rides excellent.

To make the car perfect, there are some small items that will need addressed. The center gauge cluster does not work (above the radio), the seats have rips, the passenger door handle is missing. There are also a few dents here and there on the car, but nothing major. All-in-all, this is a very fine example of a rare Alfa Romeo from the period.

The car came from California and looks very good underneath. This is not a rust bucket - it has much potential for a restoration or drive it as-is and have yourself a FUN LITTLE DRIVER!

CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO TEST DRIVE!

On May-26-13 at 11:53:07 PDT, seller added the following information:

THIS IS CALLED THE "KAMM TAIL" ON THIS CAR. ALSO, THIS ENGINE IS THE 1779cc 1.8L DOHC. Ebay did not have an option for this in the listing information and incorrectly listed the engine as the 1962cc version, which would make this a 2000.

We also have a ton of additional parts that go with the car, as well as the original California license plates, owners books, and some additional original paperwork. The parts are extensive, filling a whole table and some are NIB. Ebay will not allow any more photos to be posted, so if you would like me to email you the photos of the parts, please send me a question through the listing. Thanks!

Fiat 124 Abarth Spider spied, may get Alfa 4C power

Tue, Jul 14 2015

We've long been excited to see, hear, and drive the car that results from the in-process Fiat-Mazda partnership. The Italian brand has had access to the excellent 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata on which to base its own roadster, and the fruits of that labor will soon ripen. Spied here is not only the ensuing Fiat 124, but a hotter Abarth tuned version of the spider. At least, that's what we're hoping. Our spy shooters indicated that the car seen here not only sounded more aggressive than 'standard' 124 mules seen previously, but that it also accelerated away from their long lenses with a smartness. The 124 Spider is already rumored to make use of the 1.4-liter turbo I4 that makes 160 horsepower in the Fiat 500 Abarth, and this version may have a still-more-powerful engine. Another tell about the added output are the quad tailpipes in place of the lesser car's set of two. There's no hard evidence to support exactly which engine might be under the 124's hood, however. It's possible that the 1.7-liter turbo from Alfa Romeo 4C could be in play – with its 237-hp output – as the 124 was originally going to wear an Alfa badge. If that were to happen, however, the Fiat would almost certainly get a dual-clutch transmission instead of the purer manual box. In any event, more details about the car will no doubt crop up closer to the expected reveal this fall. Related Video:

Slow Chinese market delays Maserati and Alfa Romeo models

Thu, Dec 3 2015

We already told you that Alfa Romeo was delaying the Giulia sedan and an unnamed CUV, but now things are getting worse. According to Bloomberg, Maserati has delayed the Alfieri sports car. And it's all China's fault. The faltering Chinese domestic market, which is experiencing its slowest period of growth in nearly three decades, is forcing Fiat Chrysler to rethink its plans for its Italian models, Bloomberg reports. Rather than going for models that would likely be popular in China, including the Alfa CUV and a larger sedan, the company will shift its focus and bring out updated MiTo and Giulietta hatchbacks, both of which would play better in Europe, an unnamed source within FCA told Bloomberg. This news is notable because it shows that FCA boss Sergio Marchionne's ambitious product transformation is not progressing as smoothly as planned. In the MiTo's case, the company is willing to go back on its original strategy. The subcompact hatch wasn't supposed to survive beyond 2016, but Bloomberg is reporting an update is due by the middle of next year. As for Maserati, well, there's not much to say. The Alfieri was supposed to go on sale next year, and now it's not. There's no word on how (or even if) Maserati's priorities will shift to another vehicle, or if this is simply a matter of money being distributed away from one of FCA's brands and toward another. Alfa Romeo 4C Spider brings roofless Italian performance to the well-heeled masses

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Following through on its Geneva concept and year-end rumors, Alfa Romeo has introduced a roofless version of its mid-engine 4C at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Like the Lotus Elise, the canvas top on the 4C Spider isn't some fancy automatic roof. Instead, owners will need to manually sort things out. Unlike the Elise, at least, the 4C's top is easier to manage when both fixing and removing from the mid-engined sports car's body. For those that prefer the security provided by a hard top, a removable carbon-fiber roof will be added after launch. Aside from that change, most of the tweaks for the 4C Spider have to do with options and equipment. As we explained in our original post, opting for the topless version of this turbocharged Italian will still get you to 60 in just 4.1 seconds, while Alfa claims the 4C Spider can still pull 1.1 lateral g. Check out our full gallery of photos of the new 4C Spider, direct from the floor of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, at the top of the page. And for more on Alfa's second US product, check out our original post, right here.
