Model Overview
The MDX carries a 3.7L V6 VTEC engine that achieves 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. This kind of performance does require 91-octane gasoline, but Acura makes up for it with no scheduled tune-ups for 100,000 miles. The MDX is the first Acura to have their new sequential SportShift automatic 6-speed transmission installed. The MDX utilizes Acura's Super Handling all-wheel drive system, which was designed to grip the road all weather conditions. The system includes Hill Logic, which puts power to the rear wheels on steep inclines. There's independent suspension front and rear and 18-inch wheels with 4-wheel disc brakes, anti-lock brakes and brake assist. The system was refined on the famously grueling and twisty Nurburgring course in Germany. The MDX has done well in safety testing, thanks to standard equipment such as stability assist, tire pressure monitoring, six airbags and energy-absorbing knee bolsters. The optional Collision Mitigation Braking System uses a radar transmitter behind the grille to determine the speed and distance of the vehicle ahead of the MDX. If there's a possible collision about to occur, the driver first gets a visual warning. If no action is taken, the system tenses the seatbelt and applies light braking. If the collision is unavoidable, the system goes right for strong braking and tightened seatbelts. The interior features power-adjustable, heated front seats and theater-style raised second-row seats that slide forward for easy access to the third row. Three-zone automatic climate control is standard, along with power windows and moonroof. A 6-CD stereo system with XM satellite radio has speed-dependent volume that adjusts as you drivve, a 10-speaker sound system with iPod integration and USB, voice recognition and GPS-linked temperature control. It even adds a premium leather-trimmed upgrade to the interior. plus and active damper sport suspension, perforated leather-trimmed interior, heated and ventilated front seats, a blind spot information system, adaptive cruise control and the Collision Mitigation Braking System. It also gets 18-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels and auto-leveling headlights. heated second-row seats and a 115-volt power outlet to the front center console. |

2016 Honda Pilot, Acura RDX confirmed for Chicago Auto Show debut
Wed, Jan 21 2015The Chicago Auto Show this year is going to be chock-full of Honda crossovers. Not only has Japanese automaker announced that it will be revealing the all-new Pilot at the Windy City expo, but that it will also preview the styling of the next Ridgeline pickup, while its luxury counterpart Acura takes the wraps off the new RDX. Developed and built in America, the new Pilot will be entering its third generation, after the first arrived in 2002 and the second in 2008. The new model previewed in the teaser image above will include eight seats across three rows, "with new technology, advanced safety, class-leading fuel economy and enhanced family utility and versatility," all wrapped in what Honda promises will be a "dramatic shift in design." The arrival of the third-generation model follows the recent introductions of the new CR-V and HR-V that slot below the Pilot. Honda's not saying much about the Ridgeline at this point, but given its close association with the Pilot, it's not surprising to see the automaker grouping the two together. The four-door, short-bed pickup was introduced in 2005 and was discontinued with the end of last year. The second-generation model is expected to reach production in 2016. While it's at it, Honda's luxury division will reveal the new 2016 Acura RDX at the Chicago show. Not to be confused with the Pilot-based MDX, the RDX is the smaller model based on the CR-V and introduced in 2006. The second-gen RDX was just introduced in 2013, but an updated version is already being rolled out, promising to deliver "a long list of styling and performance improvements plus desirable new luxury and safety features" and encompassing "important improvements to performance, dynamics, comfort and NVH." ALL-NEW 2016 HONDA PILOT SUV TO MAKE GLOBAL DEBUT AT 2015 CHICAGO AUTO SHOW Honda to fortify light-truck leadership on Feb. 12 by debuting all-new Pilot three-row SUV, and revealing the styling direction for future Ridgeline pickup Jan 21, 2015 - TORRANCE, Calif. -- A completely reengineered and redesigned Honda Pilot SUV will make its world debut at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show on February 12 at 9:30 a.m. The all-new, eight-passenger Pilot SUV – completely designed, developed and manufactured in America -- will raise the stakes in the mainstream three-row SUV segment with new technology, advanced safety, class-leading fuel economy and enhanced family utility and versatility.
Acura doubles CPO non-powertrain warranty to 2 years
Fri, Aug 2 2019On the same day Acura dropped a scintillating teaser for its upcoming Type S Concept, it also quietly announced some less exciting (unless you're in the market for a used Acura) news: It's improving the warranty that comes with its certified preowned (CPO) vehicles. Non-powertrain coverage is doubling from one year to two years, while powertrain coverage remains the same at seven years. Starting this year, Acura's Certified Preowned Vehicle Limited Warranty, which begins after the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, will be two years or 100,000 miles for non-powertrain coverage, a significant improvement from the previous guidelines of one year or 12,000 miles. Powertrain coverage is seven years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. In addition to the better warranty, Acura will offer new CPO customers a complimentary dealership maintenance service, which includes a check or change on the oil and oil filter, air intake filter, cabin air filter, rear differential fluid, brake fluid, and a tire rotation. Furthermore, CPO customers will get three free months of AcuraLink on a trial basis. Under warranty like in previous years, Acura will continue to offer "Motor Club Benefits," which includes emergency towing, flat-tire change, battery boost, emergency fuel delivery, and lockout assistance. Acura has strict rules for what can be considered for its CPO program. The car must be six model years or newer, so between 2014-2020, and it must have less than 80,000 miles on the dial.
