For sale we have a Japanese spec, 1999 Integra Type R , in Phoenix Yellow with matching yellow factory type e blk/yellow interior. The options from the factory on this car include, yellow Recaro front seats, yellow stitched shift boot, yellow stitched steering wheel, yellow stitched rear seats, factory rear tinted glass and metal pedal covers.  The 1998 to 2000 Type R Integras are highly prized as these cars are the final perfected forms of the dc2 Integra Type R. While exact production numbers are not available, the Japanese spec type r, in Phoenix yellow with yellow interior, is possibly the rarest off all Type R's.  Although I hesitate to call this car an Integra Type Rx, we have spoken with a contact at a japanese Honda dealer and he believes that this is in fact a Type Rx, because of the factory yellow interior and factory tinted glass.  The interior code on the inner door jamb reads type E black/yellow indicating that this car was born with the yellow interior.  Our contact in Japan believes that the original owner declined a couple options from the Type Rx package like blue tinted carbon interior accents, clock and keyless entry that would normally be included in the Type Rx package.  Included in the sale of the car will be an original Type Rx Japanese brochure from Honda.

This particular example, 1999 JAPANESE SPEC INTEGRA TYPE R #583 appears to have been nicely cared for throughout its lifetime, and is in overall excellent condition. The mileage currently reads 103,839 km (approx 64,522 miles), this number may go up as car is occasional driven on nice days. The car is currently titled with it's ten digit vin (DC2-1400504)  in Florida. The car is listed under a dc4 U.S. vin as ebay wouldn't let me list with the real 10 digit vin.  This is not a converted clipped car, this is a rear deal, right hand drive, all original factory car.  The only non OEM parts on this car are the spoon drop in air filter, the Jasma cat back exhaust and aftermarket pioneer mini disc radio. These modifications were performed in japan by a previous owner and the car, as you see it, is exactly as it arrived from japan after purchase. All of these modifications are easily returned to stock, if the new owner chooses to do so.

Upon arrival in the U.S. the car was taken to the Acura dealership, where it was given a clean bill of health and any necessary maintenance was performed. There are no check engine lights, funny noises, rattles or mechanical issues with this car, everything functions exactly as Honda intended it to. The car is used and does show minimal wear. The body panels are all original Honda parts and the paint appears to be to be original as well, with the exception of the front bumper,  there has been a couple paint chips touched up on the hood and one on fender, there appears to be small front bumper scrape that was touched up as well, again these repairs were made by a previous owner.  There are also a couple paint chips on the driver side door edge and a couple on the inner driver side door jamb, where it appears that the door may have been closed on the seat belt.
As far as I can see there are 2 dings on the car one on the rear hatch by the Honda emblem and one on the filler panel under the rear tail lights. They could most likely be fixed with paintless dent repair. There is a small crease in the right side front corner of the hood, please reference pictures. Other than these flaws the body and paint are in excellent condition, the paint shines brighly as it should.

The interior is clean and shows only a little wear on the driver side yellow Recaro, which would clean up with a light cleaning..  It appears that at one time a previous owner had a dash mounted navigation or radar detector that left an imprint on the dashboard. Other than that the interior appears to be in extremely good condition, the original Honda floor mats are also still in place.

We have chosen not to repair or repaint any panels, steam clean the seats  or even to buff the paint, as the condition of the car is so original, we leave these small imperfections to be taken care of by new owner, if they choose to do so.  Please be sure to reference the provided pictures.

I have done my best to illustrate any flaws so you have a real idea of the condition of this car, some of the flaws are small and can be tough to see in pictures.
If you are truly interested in the car, please do not hesitate to ask for more pictures or contact me for more information or questions in general at (201) 560-7429

Inside Honda's ghost town for testing autonomous cars

Thu, Jun 2 2016

On the edge of the San Francisco suburb of Concord, California sits a ghost town. Dilapidated buildings and cracked roads are framed by overgrowth and slightly askew street signs. The decommissioned five acre portion of the Concord Naval Weapons Station that once housed military personnel and their families is now home to squirrels, jack rabbits, wild turkeys and Honda's mysterious testing lab for autonomous vehicles. This former town within a Naval base – now dubbed "GoMentum Station" – is the perfect testing ground for Honda's self-driving cars. An almost turn-key solution to the problem of finding somewhere to experiment with autonomous vehicle inside an urban area. Thanks to the GoMentum Station, the automaker has access to 20 miles of various road types, intersections and infrastructure exactly like those found in the real world. Just, you know, without all the people getting in the way. While the faded lane markers and cracked asphalt might initially make it difficult for the car to figure out what's going on around it, that's exactly what you want when training a self-driving system. Many roads in the real world are also in dire need of upkeep. Just because autonomous vehicles are hitting the streets doesn't mean the funding needed to fix all the potholes and faded lane markers will magically appear. The real world doesn't work that way and the robot cars that will eventually make our commutes less of a headache will need to be aware of that. Plus, it's tougher to train a car to drive downtown than to barrel down the highway at 80 miles per hour. A company is going to want to get as much practice as possible. While semi-autonomous driving on the everyone-going-the-same-way-at-a-constant-speed freeway is already a reality, navigating in an urban environment is far more complex. If you've driven on the streets of Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago or Seattle you know that driving downtown takes far more concentration than cruising down the interstate. With all that in mind, Honda's tricked out Acura RLX did a good job during an (admittedly very controlled) hands-free demo. It didn't hit either of the pedestrians walking across its path. It stopped at stop signs and even maneuvered around a mannequin situated in the middle of the road. The reality is, watching a car drive around the block and safely avoid stuff is boring. Not to metion, Google has been doing this for a while in the real world.

Acura Precision Cockpit Concept is much more than a digital gauge cluster

Wed, Nov 16 2016

Audi Virtual Cockpit is one of the single best pieces of technology on the market, bar none. It blends beautiful graphics, easy interaction, and loads of information in a way that similar all-digital gauge clusters from brands like Jaguar, Land Rover, and Cadillac can't match. Other brands might not stand even with Audi, but Acura is certainly going to try. The company is demonstrating its efforts at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show with the new Precision Cockpit. Like Audi, JLR, and Cadillac, Acura is using a 12.3-inch display in place of a traditional set of gauges that changes color schemes and animations based on the driving mode. A prominent central display joins the digital IP and features what looks like an evolution of the company's current infotainment software. But rather than a knob and dial or physical buttons, Acura is taking a page out of Lexus' book, using a touchpad to control the center display. View 7 Photos But before we lament the touchpad too much, it's worth pointing out how Acura says its arrangement is different. Using something called "absolute positioning," the touchpad behaves more like an actual touchscreen – tap a corner on the pad and whatever's in the same corner of the display responds. In that way, it sounds like Acura is trying to marry a touchscreen with a more ergonomically comfortable interface. Color us curious. Precision Cockpit also stands apart in how Acura optimized it, designing the system with semi-autonomous driving in mind. The company went as far as to use a real-time 3D graphics engine to display what the vehicle's sensors "see" inside the instrument cluster. There's even an advanced vision mode that allegedly shows "cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and other objects – even those obscured from vision – using artificial intelligence to predict future pathways." While Acura is calling Precision Cockpit a concept, the company confirmed in its official release that the Android-based system "will power future production cars." If it comes with all the tech Acura's promoting here, Precision Cockpit stands to be a significant step forward in the digitization of car interiors.
