2002 Acura Tl Type-s Sedan 4-door 3.2l With Navigation on 2040-cars
Wethersfield, Connecticut, United States
4 New Hancook performance tires "W" rated (168mph) were mounted to this car under 7,000 miles ago. The car handles excellent in the dry and wet conditions. (Note they are not snow tires) This has been well maintained throughout the 6 years I have owned it. In fact there has been very little to do with repairs for this car other than normal maintenance. Now I know why my mechanic recommends Acuras. They last forever. The car has 193,000 miles on it. I bought it at 49k miles and the majority of the 144k miles I have driven it have been highway and rural streets. Everything on the car is operational. There are some scratches and dings as well as a cosmetic dent in the rear passenger side panel that I caused by hitting a parked truck in Dec 2013. I had the car painted with the original factory paint color in 2012 because the original paint was wearing so the car has a newer appearance. I have purchased another newer Acura that was such a good value that I couldn't pass it up. I can get in this 2002 Acura TL and drive it out of state or cross country without hesitation in the condition it is in today. There is a small rip in the each of the front leather seats but they are still comfortable.

Acura aiming for Chinese production by 2016
Fri, 19 Jul 2013Not wanting to be left out of the emerging luxury car bonanza in China, Automotive News is reporting that Acura could begin producing vehicles in the Asian country by 2016. Like Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Acura will reportedly build vehicles in China using a local partner - Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. in Acura's case - while Cadillac and Infiniti will build their own vehicles locally.
Guangzhou already produces Honda models in China, but the article says that the first Acura produced in that country could be a new compact model based on the Acura SUV-X Concept (shown above), a showcar revealed in April at the Shanghai Motor Show. China's luxury car market is expected to grow to 2.7 million units a year by the end of this decade, which would put it on pace to make it the largest premium car market in the world.
2018 Acura TLX will get the Precision concept's grille
Tue, Mar 28 2017The mid-cycle refresh for the Acura TLX is upon us, and the first teaser shows a car with the new corporate face. The dimly lit image shows the car's pentagonal grille we first saw on the Precision concept at last year's Detroit auto show, and is currently found on the MDX crossover. The full reveal will come on April 11 at the New York auto show. The new fascia should be a significant improvement over the boring, generic one found on the current TLX. A closer look under brighter light also reveals that some of the character lines and creases aren't as sharp and crisp as those on the Precision concept. And while this new TLX should be more distinct that the current model, the headlights are certainly reminiscent of the scowling units on the new Opel Insignia. Acura says this refresh comes with significant updates but doesn't elaborate on what they are. Updates could include a standard 9-speed for both V6 and inline-4 engines, increased power, and a refreshed interior. We'll have all the details when the car launches in the coming weeks. Acura recalling 76,000 TSX sedans in certain cold-weather states
Sun, 24 Mar 2013Parent company Honda is issuing a recall for Acura TSX vehicles from model years 2004 to 2008, for a rather interesting fault with the electrical systems (well, kind of). It seems that TSX made between during that range have carpeting that degrades when it becomes saturated with "corrosive materials for deicing." The carpeting is in contact with each Acura's electronic control unit, which may in turn rust or become corroded as a result. All of that business could cause the engine to stall.
Acura is singling out cars registered in states that use these corrosive deicing materials (presumably road salt): Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Honda and instructed to bring their cars into the nearest Acura dealership. Dealers will inspect the ECU for damage, replace if needed, and cover with a waterproof piece; all free of charge. Check out the official recall notice below.
