1994 Acura Legend Gs 6 Speed Manual 4-door Sedan 3.2l Type Ii on 2040-cars
San Rafael, California, United States
An extremely rare classic Black 1994 Acura Legend GS (Type II) 6 speed manual 4 door sedan with clean title and no accident. This is quite possibly the cleanest mint condition low-mileage 6 speed Legend sedan in the world. State Farm has officially issued a special vintage classic car insurance for this vehicle, it is one of only approximately 400 units ever produced by Acura. Legend enthusiasts have long treasured the 6 speed Legend 2 door Coupes, but the 6 speed Sedans are ultra rare. It took me 15 years to find this car, and I have never seen another 6 speed sedan in person. This car has never been raced or modified, both the exterior and interior are in great condition, absolutely luxurious inside, no fading on paint, not even a single scrape on any of the four factory wheels! Currently has just 114,650 original miles, it runs smooth and sublime, engine sounds fantastic, clutch is excellent, no wind noise on highway, an incredibly fun car to drive. As of now, the car is running perfectly and no major services are due for another 86,000 miles!!! I really thought that I would keep this car forever, but then I happened to lease an electric car for my commute -- enjoying the no gas bill and the electric motor torque! I hope to find another Legend enthusiast who will appreciate all the meticulous work I did for this rare Legend. All service and restoration are documented and all receipts are available for the buyer. Passed Smog and Registered through Aug 2014. Special Offer after the auction: This Ebay auction includes the original Acura/Boss factory cassette radio that is in the pictures on Ebay. The car currently is fitted with a Pioneer's latest flagship AVIC-Z150BH Navigation (2013-14 model) with Bluetooth handsfree calling and music streaming, DVD/CD/Movie/Netflix Playback on 7 inch touch screen with surround sound, and HD Radio, AppRadio, Live Traffic indication on map, and integrated steering wheel control - I wanted to have the latest & the best entertainment system on the road, and this is it! Better features than most high end luxury cars!! That Pioneer system is NOT INCLUDED in the auction, but if you are the winner of the auction, and would like to have that Pioneer set up instead, I could offer it to you for an additional $800 - It cost me $1300 installed at City Radio in San Rafael last year. If you still prefer the original factory Bose premium radio, I will take out the Pioneer unit and put back the original Acura radio, which is in absolutely perfect condition. No wires in the back have been cut during the professional installation. For more detail pictures of the car with the current Pioneer set up which can be included at an additional $800, please go to link: http://s142.photobucket.com/user/zolzen/library/Legend6MT2014 Pioneer product info: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/GPS-Navigation/AVIC-Z150BH I am auctioning this Legend 6 speed sedan at a fraction of what I spent on, it's a real bargain for such an amazingly rare 6 speed Legend Sedan. Daily Driver: 2015 Acura TLX
Sat, Jul 4 2015Daily Driver videos are micro-reviews of vehicles in the Autoblog press fleet, reviewed by the staffers who drive them every day. Today's Daily Driver features the 2015 Acura TLX, reviewed by Seyth Miersma. You can watch the video above or read a transcript below. Watch more Autoblog videos at /videos. Show full video transcript text Hey all, this is Seyth with Autoblog and I'm here in the 2015 Acura TLX. Right off the bat I can tell that the TLX doesn't feel anything like as sporting a sedan as the TL it replaced, at least not in the versions that I last drove, which admittedly were TL's with V6 power and the SH all wheel drive. This TLX has got a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine, it's making 206 horsepower, and 182 pound-feet of torque, and it is connected up to a eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission. As you can tell by the power output this isn't an impressively fast car. It weighs about 3,500 pounds so it's lugging around some weight. At the same time the eight-speed transmission is really responsive especially as you go through the selectable gear programs, you can make the throttle response pretty good. It is a throttle by wire as well and I haven't noticed any weirdness there, it feels very linear, and like I said, when I turned the system into the sport plus mode the gas pedal becomes really responsive. The exhaust note is muted, you really have to get up over 5,000 rpm before you start feeling like the engine is really pushing you. One of the things that struck me first about this Acura when I got in it was how quiet it was at speed. I feel like in the luxury segment, Acuras have historically done a little bit better for being sportier versions of cars in their segment and not necessarily more refined, but that seems to have been changing a lot on the last few generations of Acura. What it lacks in athletic ability it makes up for in composure. I'm on a pretty good right now, there are plenty of bad ones around where I live so this suspension soaks up a lot of the impacts and it dampens the sound of them as well too. Acura is clearly going after a much more mainstream customer these days and I think a car like this could be very attractive, more attractive than ever for a shopper of something like a Lexus ES. One feature I did play around with was Acura's active lane keep assist which works actually by moving the steering wheel to a degree to keep you centered in your lane if your hands are off the wheel.
Inside Honda's ghost town for testing autonomous cars
Thu, Jun 2 2016On the edge of the San Francisco suburb of Concord, California sits a ghost town. Dilapidated buildings and cracked roads are framed by overgrowth and slightly askew street signs. The decommissioned five acre portion of the Concord Naval Weapons Station that once housed military personnel and their families is now home to squirrels, jack rabbits, wild turkeys and Honda's mysterious testing lab for autonomous vehicles. This former town within a Naval base – now dubbed "GoMentum Station" – is the perfect testing ground for Honda's self-driving cars. An almost turn-key solution to the problem of finding somewhere to experiment with autonomous vehicle inside an urban area. Thanks to the GoMentum Station, the automaker has access to 20 miles of various road types, intersections and infrastructure exactly like those found in the real world. Just, you know, without all the people getting in the way. While the faded lane markers and cracked asphalt might initially make it difficult for the car to figure out what's going on around it, that's exactly what you want when training a self-driving system. Many roads in the real world are also in dire need of upkeep. Just because autonomous vehicles are hitting the streets doesn't mean the funding needed to fix all the potholes and faded lane markers will magically appear. The real world doesn't work that way and the robot cars that will eventually make our commutes less of a headache will need to be aware of that. Plus, it's tougher to train a car to drive downtown than to barrel down the highway at 80 miles per hour. A company is going to want to get as much practice as possible. While semi-autonomous driving on the everyone-going-the-same-way-at-a-constant-speed freeway is already a reality, navigating in an urban environment is far more complex. If you've driven on the streets of Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago or Seattle you know that driving downtown takes far more concentration than cruising down the interstate. With all that in mind, Honda's tricked out Acura RLX did a good job during an (admittedly very controlled) hands-free demo. It didn't hit either of the pedestrians walking across its path. It stopped at stop signs and even maneuvered around a mannequin situated in the middle of the road. The reality is, watching a car drive around the block and safely avoid stuff is boring. Not to metion, Google has been doing this for a while in the real world.
A smoother operator | 2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid First Drive
Tue, Apr 4 2017There's a lot to unpack when trying to understand the 2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid. Acura is billing it as a three-row crossover infused with NSX technology via a sport-oriented hybrid drivetrain. So it's a hybrid crossover, sure. But it doesn't comport itself like a traditional crossover, nor is it a conventional hybrid. What it is, underneath, is an intentionally subtle blend of impressive technologies doing their best to appear transparent – and it's too subtle, I fear, to be appreciated by those who'd like it the most. This is a lot of foreshadowing, but if you're not familiar with the MDX Sport Hybrid's powertrain, let's fill you in. The MDX Sport Hybrid uses the same basic system as the 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid, with some newer NSX battery tech sprinkled in, packaged neatly into the refreshed third-generation MDX platform. The system improves handling and efficiency – but more important, it smoothes out the harshness of shifts and engine stop-starts. We do need to examine the system in some detail to understand how all this affects the MDX as a whole, so let's go toe to tail. Up front is a transversely-mounted 3.0-liter V6 making 257 horsepower and 218 pound-feet of torque, as well as featuring i-VTEC and cylinder deactivation. It's slightly smaller than the 3.5-liter V6 found in the conventional MDX and many other Honda and Acura products. Attached alongside is a Honda-produced 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that has a 47 hp, 109 lb-ft electric motor-generator stuffed inside. Amidships are the battery pack and the electronics to control it, and stretching aft from there are large cables feeding power to a pair of electric motors that reside in single housing, one for each wheel. Together, they produce electron witchcraft and torque-delivery wizardry – and add 72 hp and 108 lb-ft of torque to the mix. The total system output is 321 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque – a gain of 31 hp and 22 lb-ft over the conventional MDX SH-AWD. Beyond the raw numbers, there's the remarkable subjective benefit of the Sport Hybrid's drivetrain. Engine start-stop events are quiet and smooth, nearly imperceptible when under way – in stark contrast to the too-perceptible shudder of competing engines kicking on. The electric motors (mainly the one residing in the transmission) add in power to make up for the lull during a shift, making shifts up or down seamless, as well as providing regenerative capacity.
