Hello all. This is the Integra you Honda/Acura enthusiasts have been waiting for. It's a 2001 integra GS-R, the body has about 148,000 miles on it. I will now list the good and the bads. The good: I'm the second owner and purchased the vehicle in 2004 with only 50,000 miles. It's been with me since practically brand new. In 2010 I stopped driving it. Only used it once or twice a month if that. I was going to build the car into a show car so last year I rebuilt the engine to stock specifications except I used forged pistons and rods from Manley. It has a brand new integra type r transmission with lsd that I purchased from acura. I used an exedy stage 1 clutch. The engine was computer balanced. All sensors for the engine were purchased new. Has new motor mounts. This was a full rebuild done at a professional shop. No back yard work here. I just replaced the catalytic converter and an O2 sensor last week. I did a full brake job last week, all four rotors and pads and replaced a rear brake caliper due to the car sitting for so long. The front bearings have also been replaced. The car sat for the last year as well after the engine rebuild, the engine and tranny only have 1800 miles. That's right you read that right, only 1800 miles, the car starts right up no issues what so ever. At 1000 miles I changed the oil to synthetic using royal purple. It just had another oil change done using royal purple right at 1800 miles. It has a jdm black housing type r front end with factory HID's that I purchased from Canada. Headlights are wired up the side markers are not. The interior is in pretty good shape, I dynomatted the trunk completely cleaned the carpet and cleaned the leather seats. Moonroof / sunroof works perfectly and does not leak. It will come with interior speakers, focal 165kf component in front with crossovers for the tweeters and matching rears. These speakers weren't cheap and sound great. Now onto the bad. The bad: the body of the car needs work to look brand new again(which is what I was after). The front end needs some finalizing and paint. I do have the front lip just didn't install it. There are some dings and dents on the car nothing major. It needs a new rear bumper support bar and some work on the right rear section that I messed up a bit when bumped into a car parked behind me in my driveway, oops. Again nothing major everything is there. The car could use some new tie rods and bushings. That's the only bad I can find with this car. The mechanicals are brand new. If you've been waiting for a good Integra with zero mechanical issues this is it. It just passed emissions and has no codes or check engine light on. The stage has been set. It's up to you, finish it up or drive as is. It has a viper 5000 alarm installed. In the past year I have spent well over 6500 on this car. The engine build was 3200, the type r tranny was 1700, the front end was 1000. Exhaust work and engine sensors came out to over 600. I know I will never get what I fully invested in to this car but I will also not give it away. The car is stock except for the front end and forged internals. Has 4-1 headers and an aem v2 intake. Abs works, cruise control works and so does A/C. I'm asking a low price of 6500 obo for a car that runs perfectly and only has 1800 miles on the engine and tranny. It's a real numbers matching 2001 GS-R. Mechanically the car is brand new. Please know what you're looking at and looking for. The engine and tranny alone cost quite a bit. Clean illinois title in hand. I no longer have any interest in keeping this car and would like it to go to a good owner. i can be contacted at 630-853-6933 serious inquiries only. Ask for Ben. i have set the reserve relatively low for this awesome vehicle. it is for sale locally and i reserve the right to end this auction early.

Acura MDX design lead details the crossover from beginning to today

    Thu, Nov 19 2020

Catalin Matei, principal designer at Acura, was the exterior design lead for the original 2001 MDX and had the same job for the new MDX Prototype. That’s just plain cool, and it makes him the MDX person of record when it comes to design.  Thankfully, Acura put him in front of a camera with the original and the new Prototype to talk design. That video is at the top of this post. MateiÂ’s background gives him a unique perspective on how MDX design has changed throughout the years. In the video, he walks us through his and AcuraÂ’s thinking and rationale for the three-row crossoverÂ’s design both then and now. ItÂ’s a great watch, as you learn how AcuraÂ’s crossover design philosophy has changed over the years. Where the original design tried to be elegant and clean, the new MDX takes a stab at sportiness and performance. This line of thinking is in tune with all of AcuraÂ’s most recent designs following the “Precision Crafted Performance” mantra. 2001 Acura MDX View 11 Photos Specifics on how the carÂ’s design has changed are called out by Matei. For example, grille design — itÂ’s much bigger now! The character line that wrapped around the original MDX has moved upward in the new MDX. This gives the new crossover a broad-shouldered and strong look that the old MDX just didnÂ’t have. And you probably wouldÂ’ve never guessed this, but the bodyside sculpting was inspired by the rocks in the Antelope Canyon. WeÂ’re not totally convinced.  One downside from the slick and “sporty” design may be unintentionally called out. The third row of seats is almost entirely shrouded by the body, as opposed to the massive windows in the original MDX. Those in the rearmost seats will have a much more claustrophobic experience than everybody else in the car. If you want all the details we know about the upcoming next-gen MDX, check out our reveal post here. Also, bookmark this page. WeÂ’ll check back in with Matei 20 years from now for the 2040 Acura MDX reveal. Related gallery: MDX Prototype View 35 Photos

Best cars for snow and ice in 2023 and 2024

    Tue, Jan 23 2024

What's the best car for snow? The real answer is "the one with winter tires." What do we mean by that? You could have the finest, most advanced all-wheel-drive system or four-wheel drive in the world, but if you're running all-seasons (the spork of tires), your fancy four-wheeler won't matter much. The odds are, any vehicle on the road running good winter tires will probably perform adequately in slippery, slushy and/or snowy road conditions. (Here's a more complete explanation of why winter tires are totally worth it). In other words, you don't really need any of the cars on this list. With a set of winter tires, countless others will do the job, and even these will be at their best with proper rubber. You can find a variety of winter tires for your car here at Tire Rack. Keep in mind that you will need a full set of four snow tires for safety and performance, no matter what you're driving. The days of your dad putting just two snows on the family truckster to get it moving in a straight line are long gone. Don't get us wrong, getting a car that performs well in snow and ice is still a worthy criteria for car buyers. According to the U.S. Transportation Department, 70% of Americans live in places that get snow and ice. And much of the country has been blasted with arctic air for much of the new year. So let's look at the cars. First, we're highlighting choices for a variety of buyers and price points. Second, we're not just considering snow; we're considering general wintery conditions people will experience driving to work or school. As such, these are all choices with advanced all-wheel-drive systems, usually with "torque-vectoring" systems that not only automatically shunt power front and back, but side to side between the rear axles. Most have extra ground clearance for getting through deep snow, and we prefer those vehicles with more responsive steering, throttles and transmissions that provide a greater sense of vehicle control in slippery conditions.    Acura RDX Read our Acura RDX Review Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system was one of the first to offer torque-vectoring, and besides often being touted for its ability to greatly enhanced dry-road handling, its benefits in the slick stuff can be profound. It's actually surprising that Acura hasn't leaned into this capability further by offering more rugged versions of its vehicles.
