It has a reliable 3.2L inline 6-cylinder engine that is very smooth and great on gas as well which makes this a very affordable SUV to drive. This XC90 has an excellent All-Wheel-Drive system that will get you through the worst of road conditions. It always feels safe, secure and under control while going down the road! It is easy to see that this XC90 has been well cared for. The paint and body look amazing. The color is called “Magic-Blue Metallic” and it is a beautiful color! It looks so much better in person; no amount of pictures can do this color justice! The interior is also very clean. There are just a couple minor items to note otherwise it is a beautiful SUV inside and out. There is some wear on the interior trim by the driver’s seat that was likely caused by from how the previous owner got in and out of the vehicle and the interior door panel on the driver’s side rear door has a small hole in it. Both of these things are really minor but we try to be as thorough as possible! If you’ve never driven an XC90 before you are in for a treat. It is a very enjoyable vehicle to drive that is easy to maneuver on tight roads or in small parking lots. This XC90 is also designed to be very versatile and makes great use of the interior space which makes it the perfect family vehicle! This XC90 has the 3RD row seat that gives you room for up to 7 people total and if you need more cargo room than people room you can simply fold the 3RD row down and it is out of the way. The middle row seat also has an integrated child booster seat which saves you from having to constantly switch booster seats between more than one vehicle. This XC90 has a ton of safety features including “BLIS” which is a Blind Spot Information System that tells you if a car or motorcycle is in your blind spot! It also has a number of airbags and stability control to avoid rollover accidents. You just don’t find many vehicles that are as safe and good looking as this XC90! Volvo Concept Recharge previews the future of Volvo design and technology
Wed, Jun 30 2021Volvo has announced a whole slew of information about where the company is headed, from battery technology to advanced driver aids. And it was all capped by the concept car you see above, the Volvo Concept Recharge. It all shows that Volvo's future is stylish, electrified and featuring the latest in safety technology. So, in a way, pretty much exactly what you'd hope and expect. Volvo didn't say much about the specifications of the Concept Recharge, but its design will clearly influence future Volvo models, including the company's upcoming flagship electric SUV that will be revealed next year. The front ditches even faux grilles for a sculpted fascia. The shape does echo some of the look of a grille, particularly with the Volvo slash and badge in the middle. The "Thor's Hammer" headlights remain, and in the case of the concept, they have wild running lights that slide up and out of the way inside the housing to make way for the actual projector headlights at night time. The whole shape of the car is based around the electric powertrain. It has a low floor and glass roof that means the whole body can be made lower and sleeker without compromising space. The wheels are pushed to the far edges, too. At the back, the car has slim vertical taillights, continuing a Volvo design tradition. On the roof, there is a lidar sensor placed at the top of the windshield. This is a significant piece of Volvo's future, as its next generation of vehicles, starting with that aforementioned SUV, will all come with one of these sensors as standard. It will be used in combination with cameras, radar, real-time data, machine learning and mapping data to provide advanced driver aids, including what Volvo describes as "unsupervised autonomous" driving in specific circumstances. Basically, it will be SAE Level 3 autonomy, a step beyond the hands-free, but still supervised Level 2 systems such as GM's Super Cruise. It will only be available on specific roads in specific circumstances, and so it won't be able to handle the entire driving task from driveway to driveway. The company expects to offer this level of autonomy on highways first, and it will only be in specific areas to begin. It didn't give an exact timeline for the roll-out and it will be a more gradual increase over time, rather than everything being launched all at once. The company also emphasized that it will only begin launching the features when they're well and truly ready.
Apple announces CarPlay in-car iPhone interface
Mon, 03 Mar 2014Apple, maker of tech items like the iPhone, iPad and Mac line of computers, is extending its reach into the automotive market, making a fairly big announcement ahead of the Geneva Motor Show. No, it hasn't bought Tesla (yet). Instead, Apple has announced CarPlay, an all-new means of controlling an iPhone through your car.
Now, this doesn't strike us as some gimmicky thing. It's become increasingly common for automakers to take advantage of the high-speed data streams its customers enjoy on their smartphones in order to integrate navigation, traffic, audio and other infotainment items into a car's touchscreen interface. The Chevrolet Spark and Sonic are two prime examples of this move, using an iPhone's data stream for Siri integration and data for a third-party navigation app.
Owners will be able to plug in their iPhones to their cars via the USB port and gain control of a number of the device's functions, all through a car's touchscreen.
Volvo building new AstaZero safety proving ground in Sweden
Mon, 25 Aug 2014Volvo is an automaker committed to vehicle safety, setting an ambitious target for itself: by 2020, the Swedish automaker envisions that no one will be killed or seriously injured in one of its cars. In order to achieve that goal, Volvo has announced a new proving ground designed specifically to test safety solutions.
Called AstaZero, the new facility near the company's headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, is the result of a $70 million investment. It will cover some 500 acres, with over 60 acres of pavement, four city blocks and three and a half miles of highway. The Active Safety Test Area (the ASTA in AstaZero) will enable Volvo and its partners (including Scania trucks as well as government bodies and university development programs) to simulate city streets, highways, rural roads, roundabouts, T-junctions and more, combining traffic from cars, pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, buses, trucks and even animals in order to account for all manner of potential hazards.
The facility will enable Volvo to test active safety systems and autonomous vehicle operations, and even allow robots to test its prototypes in an adaptive environment that aims to be more flexible than existing proving grounds.
