2005 Volvo XC90

This vehicle being offered was my wife's vehicle and we have since replaced it with a new vehicle.  This Volvo was a Florida vehicle for all of it's life prior to us moving to Indiana.  It has only ever experienced one winter and is clean and dry underneath.

Exterior

This vehicle has not had an accident and has no previous paint work on any panels.  There are miscellaneous light scratches.  I have included pictures of the bad scratches which include the hood and on the top of the right quarter panel.  Being a Florida vehicle the headlights are fogged over but may be able to be buffed out.  There is a ding in the Left Front Door as well as in the Right Front Door.  These two panels should be able to be repaired without paint work.  All other panels are very straight.  The wheels have pitting but do not have curb rashing around the lips.  The tires are at about 4/32 depth.

Mechanical

The reason for selling this vehicle is that our mechanic has notified us that the front differential is in need of repair.  Intermittently it will make a noise while making a hard turn with the wheel at lock position.  The estimate that he gave me for the repair of the front differential was $1750.  The other mechanical repair which the mechanic stated was a common repair on this particular model of this age is a breather line off of the fuel tank in the rear of the vehicle.  This is the reason for the check engine light being on.  He stated this repair is almost all labor and would be around $350.  As noted by the picture of the service manual, this is not a vehicle that was neglected and abused.  It was serviced regularly and the mechanic has stated the engine and transmission all seem to be in good working order.

Interior

The interior is in pretty good shape for it's age.  The headliner is sagging in areas (pictured) and there is some wear on the edges of the seats (pictured).  Carpets are in ok shape for age with only a couple of light stains in spots.  The center console lid has a crack on the hinge.  All interior items and accessories are in working condition.

If the front differential were repaired this vehicle would be a better than average XC90 when compared to others of similar age / mileage.  I have accounted for the repairs needed in the reserve price.  The vehicle is located in Carmel, Indiana and I would be happy to schedule a showing of the vehicle.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Thanks for looking.

2015 Volvo XC90 is the Swedish future

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

It's been months since the Concept XC Coupe debuted at the Detroit Auto Show, Volvo's last show car previewing its all-new 2015 XC90. But the production model is finally here after years of development, and it signals the future of the Swedish automaker with its Scalable Product Architecture modular platform and cutting-edge new engine family.
The 2015 XC90 carries all-new styling, but is still familiar up front, with the company's logo slashing diagonally through its prominent, upright grille. Like the concept, it carries T-Shaped LED running lights through the headlights. The company calls them the "Thor's Hammer" design, an evocative designation that we think is fantastic. Under that new front end is a choice of two quite powerful, but very efficient powertrains. The standard XC90 gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged engine with all-wheel drive making an impressive 316 horsepower. Or if buyers want to be a little greener and more powerful, there is the XC90 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid with the same engine, albeit augmented with an electric motor to produce a staggering 400 hp.
The exterior styling is crisp, if not quite as sensual as Volvo's latest concepts, but we think the interior is the real star here, with a dashboard that looks like it came out of a Herman Miller catalog and a unique vertically oriented infotainment screen integrated into its center stack, perhaps taking a cue from Tesla. If the cabin feels as good as it looks, we think a lot of sales are going to be won inside.

Volvo pranks newest valet on the Italian Riviera

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

Being a valet on the Italian Riviera seems like a pretty sweet gig for a young guy. Not only do you get to watch beautiful people coming and going all day and night, but there's the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a plethora of exotic sports cars. Of course, being responsible for those expensive vehicles has to be pretty nerve wracking to get used to on the first day.
In a new commercial, Volvo pranks a new valet at the San Remo Casino to see how he would handle a surprise showing up on the red carpet. If the look on his face in the screenshot above doesn't show it, he's pretty shocked by what he sees. We don't want to spoil the reveal, so just watch the ad to find out. Afterward, if you're interested in the details behind how Volvo made it happen, you can check out a short, making-of documentary, here.

Volvo specs new 450-hp triple-charged four-cylinder engine

Tue, 07 Oct 2014

When Volvo lifted the veil on the new XC90 a little over a month ago, it announced that all versions would be powered by one engine design: a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder to be offered in various states of tune. That would range, Volvo said, all the way up to a high-output version with "around 400 horsepower," but while it wouldn't specify exact output, now it has.
The new High Performance Drive-E Powertrain incorporates two parallel turbochargers fed by a third electric turbo-compressor. Instead of feeding the cylinders directly, that third unit spools up the twin turbochargers, working together with a dual fuel pump pressurized to 250 bar.
The result is an output of 450 horsepower - far more than the existing 320-hp version and even more than expected. That also works out to 225 hp/liter, far more than the 177 hp/liter boasted by Mercedes-AMG's high-output turbo four and the 139 hp/liter in the Alfa Romeo 4C. Short of a rotary engine (whose actual displacement is the subject of great debate), you'd have to go up to something like the Koenigsegg One:1 (268 hp/liter) to find a higher specific output than what Volvo's boasting here.
