The Vehicle..........2004 Volvo XC70 Cross Country Wagon in dark red with a sand leather interior. This Volvo is in GREAT CONDITION and RUNS BEAUTIFULLY. It has been checked for MA state inspection compliance. Features include the 2.4 liter 5 cylinder engine, automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, automatic climate control air conditioning, power sliding glass sunroof, power windows, heated power seats w/ memory, power door locks, power mirrors, cruise control, tilt & telescopic steering wheel, delay wipers, Thule roof rack, am-fm-cassette stereo with CD, alloy wheels, and much more.

Its Condition..........GREAT! The engine runs smoothly with no skips, noises, or vibrations. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, and all other mechanical systems seem to function properly. This car was safety checked on 12-28-13 and found to in safe condition. It will pass Massachusetts state inspection. The interior is beautiful. There are no worn, torn, or stained areas on the seats, carpets, or headliner. The seats are supportive and comfortable. All other interior panels look excellent. The paint and body are very good. There are no dents, rusted areas, or serious scratches anywhere on the body. There is a minor dent and hole in the LR quarter panel (see photo), but nothing that detracts from the overall great look of this XC70. The paint appears original, and has an outstanding shine. We drove this car on a 12 mile test drive over varied road surfaces in cold weather. It was a smooth and pleasant experience with a powerful engine, comfortable interior and great stereo. There are no shakes, rattles, or vibrations, and the ride is just as smooth and comfortable as you would expect.

Things you should know..........I try hard to accurately describe all of our cars. Most are trade-ins to local new car dealers. We have not owned or driven these vehicles as daily transportation. The description is the result of a short test drive over varied road surfaces and a visual inspection while the vehicle is parked. I am not a mechanic and I do not guarantee that my description of problems (if any) is accurate or complete, but I try very hard to be thorough and honest, and my reputation reflects that effort. Please remember that these are used vehicles and you should expect a normal amount of wear for the year and mileage, but any serious known defects would be noted above. Local bidders are encouraged to see, drive, and inspect this vehicle prior to bidding.

The Details..........Please leave a $200 deposit at the end of the auction through ebay checkout and Paypal. The balance is due within 7 days in cash, or by wire transfer. I’ve been burned by official looking bank checks that were made on a home computer so we no longer accept checks of ANY kind. We add a $250 doc fee to all vehicle purchases. If your state requires notarized paperwork or special forms, please let me know before you arrive. The vehicle is being sold AS-IS, with no warranty expressed or implied except that it is guaranteed to pass Massachusetts state inspection. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I'll help in any way that I can. Massachusetts does NOT offer temp plates. If you plan to drive the car home, you will need to bring your own license plates.

2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge priced at $54,985

Wed, Oct 21 2020

The final piece of the puzzle for the 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge is falling into place today, two weeks after official EPA range information became available. Volvo just announced pricing, and it’s going to start at $54,985, including the $995 destination charge. Of course, buyers can also expect to take advantage of the $7,500 federal tax credit (and other state credits) with their XC40 Recharge purchase. That makes the total dent in the wallet $47,485 for a base crossover, or even cheaper depending on what state you live in. There isnÂ’t a long list of available packages and options, but Volvo detailed a few of them for us. The most expensive is the Advanced Package that adds VolvoÂ’s Pilot Assist driver assistance system, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, a 12-volt outlet in the luggage area and a headlight cleaning system for $1,300. The Climate Package adds a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and heated wiper blades for $750. And the last important option weÂ’ll point out is a heat pump for $350. Volvo says the heat pump can precondition the cabinÂ’s temperature and extend battery range, so it feels like a no-brainer for such a cheap price. Compared to the XC40 RechargeÂ’s direct competition, the crossover is priced in the same ballpark. A Tesla Model Y Long Range is $49,990. The base Ford Mustang Mach-E with all-wheel drive starts at $46,695. Neither the Ford nor the Tesla are perfect comparisons, though. The XC40 is both smaller and more premium than both of those options. WeÂ’ll note that itÂ’s not a huge stretch to go from the XC40 Recharge to the Polestar 2 that begins at $61,200, a $6,215 climb above the base XC40 Recharge. 2020 Volvo XC40 Recharge View 23 Photos Charging network Volvo also announced that itÂ’s beginning a collaboration with ChargePoint as the official charging network for the XC40 Recharge. That will give owners approximately 115,000 places to charge their electric crossover, though Volvo is light on the details for now. We asked, and Volvo said that an announcement about charging software integration is coming soon. DonÂ’t expect free charging to be part of the deal though, as Volvo tells us thatÂ’s not part of the companyÂ’s “immediate plans.” The partnership will allow owners to purchase a ChargePoint Home Flex charger for their home at the time of their XC40 purchase, but we donÂ’t have pricing on this option yet. You can place an order for the electric crossover on VolvoÂ’s website now.

Volvo adds 48V hybrid system to a bunch of 2022 models

Sun, Aug 1 2021

In 2019, Volvo announced an updated powertrain fitted with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The integrated starter-generator and regenerative brake-by-wire refilling a small battery could increase fuel economy by up to 15% in real-world driving. There are three layouts, dubbed B4, B5, and B6 that the Swedish automaker's already been rolling out globally. Next year two of them, the B5 and B6, come to the U.S. for the first time under the 2022 Volvo S60, S90, V90 XC, and XC60. The EPA's fuel economy site shows all of those models making small fuel economy gains, too. The B4 and B5 powertrains contain both gas and diesel mild-hybrids, the B6 is gas-only. All of the gas options (Volvo doesn't offer diesels here) will start with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the B5 adding a turbocharger, the B6 adding a turbocharger and a supercharger.  Per the EPA, the front-wheel drive 2021 Volvo S60 returns 23 miles per gallon in the city, 34 on the highway, and 27 combined. The new 2022 Volvo S60 B5 betters that with 26 city, 35 highway, and 30 combined. The 2022 S60 B5 AWD bests the 2021 model with the both versions of the non-hybrid 2.0-liter engine by one to three miles per gallon in nearly every category. The only model that does better, for obvious reasons, is the 2021 S60 AWD PHEV, which has been renamed S60 T8 AWD Recharge. The 2022 Volvo XC60 comes in AWD B5 spec with the turbocharged 2.0-liter, and AWD B6 spec with the turbo- and supercharged 2.0-liter. Gains are smaller here, the EPA showing a one-mpg increase in the city when comparing the 2021 XC60 to the 2022 B5 model. With the B6 powertrain, the 2022 XC60 improves by one mpg in the city and combined compared to the 2021 model. The EPA site doesn't show a front-drive XC60 for next year, and the XC60 AWD PHEV is already referred to as the XC60 T8 AWD Recharge. It's possible horsepower ratings will change slightly for the mild-hybrid rigs next year, but not enough to change the driving experience. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Volvo's pedestrian airbags may already be on their way out

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

As proof of just how quickly automotive technology can advance, just check out the Volvo V40. Developed with an external airbag aimed at better protecting pedestrians in the event of a collision, this innovative safety device could be phased out soon in place of more advanced active safety technologies like pedestrian detection and auto braking.
Go Auto had a chance to talk to Volvo senior VP Lex Kerssmakers at the Tokyo Motor Show, and he suggested that the V40's under-hood airbag will not be used on the next-gen XC90 and might not even be continued on non-SUV models. The passive airbag was designed to deploy at speeds of less than 31 miles per hour to help limit head injuries to pedestrians, but new active technologies are designed to prevent collisions in the first place.
The interview also reveals some details about the new XC90, such as the inclusion of a plug-in hybrid system and the debut of a new safety technology. Kerssmakers told Go Auto that a new Volvo concept will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January, but it won't be for the XC90.
