This 1998 Volvo V70 XC Cross Country is in good condition. The 5 cylinder engine runs great and delivers plenty of power to the famous Volvo All wheel drive system. The body has little in the way of dents, mostly just parking lot maniac damage. The tires are good, but not new and are mounted on original alloy wheels that are in good shape. The glass is in good condition and all power windows work. Power locks, cruise control and the A/C all work as originally designed. The vehicle has a rear window defrost system as well as a heated windshield washer system and front headlamp wipers. The roof rack carries up to 200 pounds of gear and the side rock guards protect the body when trekking off road to the camp ground. This great Volvo has been serviced recently so it is ready for the trip back home. The words reliable, stable, comfortable, safe are all used when automotive experts reviewed this vehicle when it hit the seen in 1998. Spacious yet maneuverable is the "Hook" that has brought folks to purchase these great cars. Rugged camping/beach vehicle meets soccer mom/evening on the town is the way I would describe the ownership experience. As the buyer, you will have to pay any and all transportation expense. If you win the bid and arrive for pick-up to find anything I have said to be false, you can default on the purchase with good feedback from me, that's how sure I am about your satisfaction with my statements. Call me if you need further info - 904-718-3829, the vehicle is located in Jacksonville Florida, GO JAGS!

Volvo denies boss Jacoby is taking a run at Opel CEO post
Tue, 07 Aug 2012It seems that every news report that involves the name "Opel" is eventually followed by a report that says, "Uh, never mind." Executives fill positions, then they're gone, or they're supposed to fill positions but duck out before doing so, five-year product offensives turn into grabbing for life preservers, and turnaround plans are followed by... new turnaround plans. With the recent departure of Opel CEO Karl-Friedrich Stracke, Swedish newspaper Dagens Industri reported that Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby topped the list of candidates to sit in Opel's very hot seat.
Volvo spokesman Stefan Elfstrom has piped up to say "Mr. Jacoby is fully occupied with running Volvo and has no plan for leaving his present job." Stranger things have happened, though, and who knows what the truth is, but we have to admit we'd be surprised if Jacoby jumped off the Volvo express - recently given an $11-billion boost by parent company Geely - to take his chances in the Opel maelstrom.
So Opel's search for a CEO continues. At least we have the Adam to look forward to.
Volvo confirms return of the wagon with V60 headed to US
Wed, 27 Mar 2013Turns out that promised new production Volvo model for the United States is indeed the V60 wagon, as we had previously predicted. And it's not terribly surprising, as Volvo has a long and storied history of wagon sales in the US, from the old, loveable 240 to the more recent high-performance V70R. And yet the automaker hasn't had a proper non-XC, non-crossover-style wagon in the US since it pulled the V70 away at the end of the 2010 model year.
"The new Volvo V60 is for people who want the handling of a dynamic sports sedan but need the versatility of a wagon," says Volvo, highlighting the reason many of us on the Autoblog team harbor such fondness for wagons in general.
Volvo is currently showing off the R-Design package for its entire model line, including the V60, at the New York Auto Show. We don't know for sure if the V60 will launch with the R-Design package or if it will come at a later date, and we also see no mention of a Polestar edition, though we're hopeful.
Greetings from Trollhattan. I'm Emily, but I'm not a Saab.
Sat, Apr 29 2023What’s Swedish for “never give up”? Saab, apparently. The fondly-remembered car company formerly called just that — and now named NEVS — is only a shell, employing just a limited crew in the land of trolls. But itÂ’s got something to sell, and that something seems like it's really something. ItÂ’s called Emily. The Emily GT exists as six prototype electric cars, according to NEVS, with a combined horsepower rating (per car) of 484 powered by an enormous 175-kilowatt lithium-ion battery thatÂ’s good for 600 miles of range. In development almost since Saab's demise — the company, once owned by General Motors, was closed down in 2010 — the Emily is a very real product and needs a real sponsor, according to NEVS CEO Nina Selander, speaking to Carup. “It is for sale, it is also a joy to be able to show it. It should be allowed to live on, itÂ’s too nice, too good and too modern a car for nothing to come of it. Interested parties are welcome,” she said. Photos of the car show a modern, forward-thrust profile with handsome lines, a look similar to the last Saab 9-5 and VolvoÂ’s S60 (must be a Swedish thing) and a fashionable, sci-fi-ish interior. A hopeful engineer on the project estimates that the car is less than two years away from some kind of series production, but according to the modest NEVS website, the company is currently in “hibernation” even as it continues to solicit buyers for the Emilys. Said Peter Dahl, the Emily project manager, “Many have asked us what we have been doing for 10 years. We have developed 13 different car projects, this is one of them.” Related video: Volvo Saab Automotive History Electric Future Vehicles Classics
