I am a Volvo tech and I'm selling a dependable 1998 Volvo v70 R AWD rare w/ every option(non smoker) or pet hair, I purchased this silver (always looks clean) wagon from a customer of mine recently, he took great care of it but he got into a accident in a parking lot and it smashed the pass front fender (replaced w/ oem fender,no frame damage) not really a huge issue but the car needed a large maintenance service performed and he could not afford the repairs so I bought the wagon for resale.  If you are looking for a Volvo wagon this is the last real Volvo after 1998 Volvo switched over to a electronic throttle body on there engines that had many issues which caused Volvo to put out a recall on the throttle body, plus the ignition system was switched over from a distributor to coil over plug which crack all the time and cause misfire issues, plus post 98 Volvos have many electronic control modules which are expensive to repair when they go bad I repeat when they go bad not if they go bad, I have owned many Volvos but 1998 and prior years were very dependable, you don't have to take my word on this but do yourself a favor and go online and read posts on the 98 and prior Volvos compared to post 98 models.

I recently replaced many parts on the R here is a list of the repairs, new front and rear pads and rotors, radiator fan, re-manufactured abs module, upper coolant hose, timing belt service (oem parts), air filter, cab-filter, oem spark plugs, oem spark plug wires, oem cap and rotor, serpentine belt, front struts upper bushings(spring seats), evac and recharged a/c, battery, all fluids. In the last year the front axles have been replaced, the mufflers have been replaced w/ dual ipd mufflers and tips, lower control arms, radiator, ect sensor, mass air flow sensor, rear wiper motor and regulator, wipers, head light bulbs, fogg light bulbs, tail light bulbs.I replaced many of the parts because I came across great discounted parts (oem) and it should help w/ the resale price. I have replaced all the fluids, four wheel alignment, the tires are new goodyear eagles rsa all seasons (great in rain and quiet), The 16" stock oem alloy wheels are clean no curb rash,  the engine idles perfectly and performs great I have owned other R wagons before but this one seems faster then the other not sure why all my vehicles are always basically left stock, the transmission has been serviced every 30k w/ new atf shifts properly. The awd driveline is in good working order no vibrations, the brakes perform properly no squeaks, or vibrations, the suspension is tight there is no loose play in any of components NO fluid leaks, a/c blows cold, heat blows hot, premium sound system oem. Everything works in and out of the Volvo I have gone threw every system w/ my Volvo scanner (engine, transmission, abs, srs, climate control etc) no trouble codes (dtcs) there are no surprises every switch, bulb, solenoid works. I removed the tailgate panel because no matter what you do they rattle and its annoying also as you can see I removed the headlight wipers because they are worthless they cause more issues then what there worth so I always remove them on my vehicles if you want them ill give them to you they work fine. The windows are tinted (drivers window has a little part torn but still looks good) and keep the interior cool on hot days, the interior is in great shape dark wood trim, leather and suede in good condition normal wear and tear drivers seat has normal wear look at pics, small dents here and there bumpers have been touched up from rock chips but the body is still pretty straight for being a 1998 vehicle NO RUST,tinted tail lights I would give the body a 8 out of 10, the paint still shines like new. I have drove the R and I have been averaging 22-23 MPG previous owner told me he got better mpg w/ driveshaft off I currently have it installed I can remove it if you want let me know. PLEASE EMAIL W/ ANY QUESTIONS

Winning bidder will be satisfied w/ the Volvo if your not satisfied w/ the v70 when you come and pick it up in person I will refund your deposit and leave positive feedback. NO NEW BIDDERS ONLY BIDDERS W/ FEEDBACK HISTORY!!! Volvo leads and Mini fails in JD Power's Tech Experience Index

Wed, Aug 19 2020

New cars are basically rolling computers. Everything from the engine to the infotainment runs on a series of ones and zeros, and a lot of that technology requires input from the driver. So it's no surprise that JD Power has a study designed specifically to discern which bits of tech drivers love and which bits they loathe. "New technology continues to be a primary factor in the vehicle purchase decision," says JD Power's Kristin Kolodge, executive director of driver interaction & human machine interface research. "However, it’s critical for automakers to offer features that owners find intuitive and reliable. The user experience plays a major role in whether an owner will use the technology on a regular basis or abandon it and feel like they wasted their money." The J.D. Power 2020 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study found that Volvo owners are happiest with the technology packed inside their vehicles, followed by BMW and Cadillac, all brands that JD Power classifies as premium. The highest-rated mainstream brand is Hyundai, followed by Subaru and Kia. As was the case with the organization's Initial Quality and APEAL studies, Tesla's numbers aren't officially included because they are the only automaker that has not granted JD Power approval to contact its owners in states that require it. Tesla's projected score of 593 would have put it in second place, right behind Volvo's score of 617. The lowest-ranked brand in the TXI Study is Mini, with Porsche right behind. Diving a little bit deeper, JD Power's findings suggest that the technologies new car buyers care most about are related to helping them see their surroundings better. Camera systems, including rear-view mirror cameras and ground-view cameras, scored highest in five of the six satisfaction attributes measured in the study. The technology that owners could really do without? Gesture controls. Owners who answered JD Power's survey say they don't use gesture controls much at all after initially trying them, and they don't really care if their next vehicle has them. We have to wonder if those responses might be what kept BMW out of the top spot. The TXI Study also found that owners are split on automated driving helpers, like lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. JD Power suggests that owners may need more training on those systems before they learn to trust them. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Geely chairman is now the single biggest investor in Daimler

Fri, Feb 23 2018

Li Shufu, the chairman and main owner of Chinese carmaker Geely, has built a stake of 9.69 percent in Daimler AG, the German carmaker said in a regulatory filing on Friday. The stake, worth nearly $9 billion at the current valuation for Daimler shares, makes Li the biggest single shareholder in the maker of Mercedes-Benz cars, trucks and vans headquartered in the German city of Stuttgart. A Daimler spokesman called the stake purchase a private investment by Li. "We are delighted, with Li Shufu, to have won over another long-term investor who is convinced of Daimler's innovative prowess, strategy and future potential," the spokesman said in response to a request for comment. "Daimler knows and respects Li Shufu as a Chinese entrepreneur of particular competence and forward thinking." Li's stake purchase makes him the top shareholder in Daimler ahead of the Kuwait Investment Authority, which owned 6.8 percent as of Sept. 30, according to Thomson Reuters data. Earlier this month, the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag reported that the Chinese industry giant was seeking to become Daimler's biggest shareholder, likely exceeding the 6.8-percent stake of the Kuwait Investment Authority. The paper said Daimler had reportedly turned down Geely's $4.5 billion offer for a 5-percent stake via a discounted share placement, saying that Geely could buy shares in the open market. Institutional investors currently own 70.7 percent of Daimler, and the company already has strong ties to Chinese automakers BAIC and BYD. Bild am Sonntag said the move was intended as a strategic alliance against Apple, Google and Amazon on autonomous and connected cars. And Reuters reported that Daimler wants to have bespoke "robo taxis" on the road quicker than Google's Waymo, and views Geely as a strong partner for that. Geely conversely is interested in Daimler's electric car battery technology, and sources quoted by the German paper say there are plans to establish joint electric car manufacturing in Wuhan, China, to meet China's smog-reducing quotas. Geely is developing the Lynk & Co. brand of electric and hybrid cars. Geely owns Volvo, which has enjoyed a renaissance under the arrangement, as well as the maker of London's black cabs. In December, it bought a stake in AB Volvo, the maker of Volvo trucks.

Volvo promises new direct-injected diesels, 8-speed auto

Tue, 09 Apr 2013

As a part of eliminating its dependence on Ford platforms and powertrains, Volvo has previously announced information about its Volvo Engine Architecture (VEA) and Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), but now we're finally getting some details about what will power some of the Swedish automaker's next-generation products.
The biggest key to VEA on the diesel engines is a new technology Volvo calls i-ART. This system uses unique injectors at each cylinder capable of monitoring fuel pressure and adjusting accordingly to maximize fuel economy and performance and reduce emissions. Looking ahead, Volvo says its four-cylinder engines will be able to offer the power of a six-cylinder and eventually, mixed with some sort of electrification, will be able to rival the performance of a V8 and "turn V8s into dinosaurs."
More details about the new diesel injection technology is posted in the press release below.
