I am a Volvo tech and I'm selling a dependable 1998 Volvo v70 R AWD rare w/ every option(non smoker) or pet hair, I purchased this silver (always looks clean) wagon from a customer of mine recently, he took great care of it but he got into a accident in a parking lot and it smashed the pass front fender (replaced w/ oem fender,no frame damage) not really a huge issue but the car needed a large maintenance service performed and he could not afford the repairs so I bought the wagon for resale.  If you are looking for a Volvo wagon this is the last real Volvo after 1998 Volvo switched over to a electronic throttle body on there engines that had many issues which caused Volvo to put out a recall on the throttle body, plus the ignition system was switched over from a distributor to coil over plug which crack all the time and cause misfire issues, plus post 98 Volvos have many electronic control modules which are expensive to repair when they go bad I repeat when they go bad not if they go bad, I have owned many Volvos but 1998 and prior years were very dependable, you don't have to take my word on this but do yourself a favor and go online and read posts on the 98 and prior Volvos compared to post 98 models.

I recently replaced many parts on the R here is a list of the repairs, new front and rear pads and rotors, radiator fan, re-manufactured abs module, upper coolant hose, timing belt service (oem parts), air filter, cab-filter, oem spark plugs, oem spark plug wires, oem cap and rotor, serpentine belt, front struts upper bushings(spring seats), evac and recharged a/c, battery, all fluids. In the last year the front axles have been replaced, the mufflers have been replaced w/ dual ipd mufflers and tips, lower control arms, radiator, ect sensor, mass air flow sensor, rear wiper motor and regulator, wipers, head light bulbs, fogg light bulbs, tail light bulbs.I replaced many of the parts because I came across great discounted parts (oem) and it should help w/ the resale price. I have replaced all the fluids, four wheel alignment, the tires are new goodyear eagles rsa all seasons (great in rain and quiet), The 16" stock oem alloy wheels are clean no curb rash,  the engine idles perfectly and performs great I have owned other R wagons before but this one seems faster then the other not sure why all my vehicles are always basically left stock, the transmission has been serviced every 30k w/ new atf shifts properly. The awd driveline is in good working order no vibrations, the brakes perform properly no squeaks, or vibrations, the suspension is tight there is no loose play in any of components NO fluid leaks, a/c blows cold, heat blows hot, premium sound system oem. Everything works in and out of the Volvo I have gone threw every system w/ my Volvo scanner (engine, transmission, abs, srs, climate control etc) no trouble codes (dtcs) there are no surprises every switch, bulb, solenoid works. I removed the tailgate panel because no matter what you do they rattle and its annoying also as you can see I removed the headlight wipers because they are worthless they cause more issues then what there worth so I always remove them on my vehicles if you want them ill give them to you they work fine. The windows are tinted (drivers window has a little part torn but still looks good) and keep the interior cool on hot days, the interior is in great shape dark wood trim, leather and suede in good condition normal wear and tear drivers seat has normal wear look at pics, small dents here and there bumpers have been touched up from rock chips but the body is still pretty straight for being a 1998 vehicle NO RUST,tinted tail lights I would give the body a 8 out of 10, the paint still shines like new. I have drove the R and I have been averaging 22-23 MPG previous owner told me he got better mpg w/ driveshaft off I currently have it installed I can remove it if you want let me know. PLEASE EMAIL W/ ANY QUESTIONS

Uber releases fleet of self-driving vehicles to select few in Pittsburgh

Wed, Sep 14 2016

Starting today, a select group of Uber users in Pittsburgh, PA will have the ability to request a self-driving vehicle. If a self-driving vehicle is in the area, Uber will send it, as well as a safety driver, to drive loyal customers to their destination. The announcement to give customers the opportunity to get a ride in one of Uber's self-driving vehicles comes roughly a year and a half after the company set up its Advanced Technologies Center in the city. On Tuesday, the company offered a few members of the press the opportunity to ride in one of the company's self-driving cars. The fleet, despite Uber's collaboration with Volvo, was comprised of 14 Ford Fusions equipped with a host of self-driving technology, reports TechCrunch. Uber is giving away free rides as a way to obtain real-world testing, which is crucial for self-driving technology. Recently, nuTonomoy beat Uber to the punch by launching the world's first autonomous taxis in Singapore. While the choice to release its self-driving cars in Pittsburgh mainly comes down to the fact that its ATC is located there, the city faces four seasons and its difficult streets that are comprised of bridges, railroad lines, and an irregular grid layout will prove to be a challenge for the autonomous cars. Since the self-driving vehicles are still being tested, the cars will come with two full-time Uber employees. One employee will loosely grasp the car's steering wheel, ready to take over if something goes awry, while the other will monitor the computer's software. As TechCrunch points out, Uber's autonomous vehicles drove in a similar manner to a regular driver. It obeyed traffic laws, mimicked a driver by coming to stops gently and at other times abruptly, as well as driving slightly into another lane to dodge a poorly-parked vehicle, reports TechCrunch. There's no word on whether regular Uber customers will get a ride in one of the company's Fusions or one of the Volvo's that its working on. Automakers and companies alike have been in a race to put autonomous vehicles on the road. Tesla recently updated its Autopilot system, Apple laid off dozens of employees to reboot its self-driving car project, and Google is working giving its autonomous vehicle the ability to detect emergency vehicles. While this is a large step for Uber, vehicles with autonomous capabilities still have a long way to go.

2020 Volvo XC90 Inscription Interior Driveway Test | A lesson in minimalist luxury

Thu, Sep 10 2020

We tend to love Volvo interiors. They’re beautiful, simple, inviting and a relaxing place to spend time in. Designers needed to get it right, too, because Volvo has applied the same styling and design language to every vehicle in its lineup. WeÂ’re focusing on the flagship today: the 2020 Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription. Since our tester is the Inscription trim, that means itÂ’s the most luxurious version of the bunch (Momentum and R-Line are the two others). Some highlights include perforated Nappa leather seats, a “tailored dashboard,” Gray Ash Wood trim inlays and the Orrefors crystal shift knob.  Our car had the Charcoal interior scheme to play along nicely with the trim. The contrast between the light wood trim and gray stitching with the black leather is pleasing to the eye. Volvo uses a gratuitous but not overwhelming amount of piano black trim to bring some shine to the interior. ItÂ’s nice to see and touch on the buttons, but gets dirty quickly around the flat gear lever area where dust tends to collect. Much of the dash is left blank in a nod to minimalism. WeÂ’re left with a large nine-inch touchscreen oriented vertically in the center, just like every other Volvo on sale today. This is flanked by the center air vents. ThereÂ’s little to no styling going on with the vents, which seems like a missed opportunity. Regardless, we dig the layered and nicely-stitched dash that comes with the Inscription model. Also nestled into the dash is this crossoverÂ’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. ItÂ’s basic in its visuals, but plenty effective at conveying important car information. We like the more vibrant and customizable clusters from Mercedes-Benz and Audi a lot, but this one gets the job done and it isnÂ’t distracting in the least bit. Volvo has your back when it comes to comfort. Our tester has the Luxury Package, so itÂ’s equipped with massaging front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Additionally, Volvo finishes the headliner in Nubuck, and the grab handles and visors get leather. Unlike everybody else, Volvo allows you to choose between three levels of heat for the steering wheel. ItÂ’s noticeable to our hands, and is great when you want to add a little heat into your fingers without being scalded. As for the massage, itÂ’s backrest only. We wish it was back and bottom, but at least the programs available for your back are soothing.
