2006 Volvo V70 R Awd - Rare 6 Speed Titanium Grey 90,500 Miles Great Shape!! on 2040-cars
Arlington, Massachusetts, United States
2006 Volvo V70R AWD Wagon 5 Cylinder high pressure, 300 horsepower twin turbo 6 Speed Manual (RARE) 90,500 Miles Titanium Grey Metallic with Beige Leather Seats I have owned this car since May of 2007. The original owner had knee surgery and couldn’t drive a stick any longer so it ended up back at Boston Volvo from where I purchased it. I have all records and all receipts including synthetic oil changes every 5K. Kids driving and off to college is making us change up our car mix, so I am reluctantly putting this up for sale. This car is loaded! In addition to all of the usual R features, this has: - A complete extra set of R 17 Pegs with General Altimax Arctic’s snows (for you Swede-0-philes, General bought from Gislaved and these in fact are a copy of the discontinued Gislaved Nordfrost 3. - Summer shoes are Kumho Ecsta AST’s on R 18 Pegs (This originally came with low profiles but the roads around here are just not conducive to that kind of tire, so I went a bit higher on the sidewalls. Both set rub slightly when pulling a full U turn as a result – pretty common for R’s) - A factory upgraded sound system with a massive sub-woofer where the 3rd row seat would go, 10 CD changer in back and ipod adapter up front - Integrated Bluetooth for phone pairing - Pop up navigation in dash and slightly tinted windows. - Volvo cross bar roof racks – never used. - This car is straight stock and has had no modifications. In the interest of full disclosure here are a few small items that keep me from saying that this is in “perfect” condition: - This car has never been in an accident or collision. I did, however, run over a truck tire retread that was in the highway and it whacked right under the front bumper. The mounts to the radiator, intercooler and fan assembly were all damaged. Insurance picked all of this up so all of those parts are new (about 14 months ago). There was no other damage and no issues since. - I had replaced the upper engine mount last summer. As the old one was loose, the engine was moving more than it should have and the mounting bracket to the air intake pipe that runs over the top of the engine had cracked. The (plastic) pipe has a fiberglass patch on the bracket and functions perfectly fine. You could order a new one for around $280, but there’s nothing wrong with it as it. - The fuel door does not immediately lock/latch when you shut it. Once you start the car after filling, the electric lock engages and its fine from there on. I have a matching (painted) door that will go with the car. It hasn’t bothered me that much so I have not replaced it. - All 8 Pegs (rims) have some curb rash. (wife!). You can see these in the pictures. The Kumho’s have a few surface tears to accompany the curb rash, but nothing major. - Leather could use a really good cleaning and reconditioning – no rips or tears, but this has been a kid and dog hauler. - There is one small (quarter size) rough patch of paint (I’ve taken a picture of it) on the front end. No rust and I think it must have been a stone ding. It’s covered with touch up paint. Otherwise the body and paint is in very good shape. - Oh, and as I was washing the car this weekend to take some pictures, my water-droplet obsessed border collie left bite marks on the left rear mud flap. I have already ordered a set from IPD. If I have time I’ll replace the left one – in any case it will come with new rear mud flaps. Other good things: - Weather Tech rubber mats were used year round from Day 1, so the carpets are all in really good shape. The rear cargo area has always had both a vinyl liner and the plastic tray, so I don’t think that carpet has ever even seen daylight. - Brakes were done about a year ago – maybe 10K, so plenty left on them - As I mentioned above, I have all receipts for oil changes and all other maintenance. - I sprung for a lifetime air filter - New set of plugs last fall - Just replaced tail gate struts - New battery in March

Last Volvo XC90 rolls off assembly line in Gothenburg
Mon, 14 Jul 2014It was back in 1998 when Volvo set about developing its first SUV. The brief was to build a seven-seater that wasn't "too large", and several design proposals were considered. Three and a half years later Volvo revealed the XC90 at the 2002 Detroit Auto Show and the rest, as they say, is history.
Volvo initially had an eye towards selling 50,000 units per year. It achieved that and then some, selling around 85,000 examples per year between 2004 and 2007. Now, after 12 years and 636,143 examples made - still over that initial target on average despite its lingering age that see it selling just 11,000 units these past few years - the last Volvo XC90 rolled off the assembly line in Gothenburg.
That final example is heading straight to the Volvo Museum adjacent to the factory. But it won't, strictly speaking, be the last XC90. It is the last of that model to be built in Sweden, but a new model is on its way. And the current model will continue to be built in Daqing, China, to be sold locally as the Volvo XC Classic. So if you want to get your hands on a seven-seat Volvo crossover, you'll have to move there. Otherwise you can wait until the end of January 2015 for the new model to begin production.
Volvo Concept Estate to spawn V90 luxury wagon, joining CUV and coupe
Wed, 26 Mar 2014The Volvo Concept Estate garnered Autoblog's Editors' Choice award as our team's favorite reveal at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show earlier this month for its sleek take on Scandinavian design, and now it looks like we might actually see the sleek wagon in production. Volvo is reportedly considering using the concept as the basis for a replacement for the V70 wagon, dubbing the new model V90.
It's rumored to be part of the Swedish brand's plan to launch a new range of 90-series vehicles. In addition to the more luxury-oriented wagon, the family of models includes the XC90 that is expected to debut later this year. According to MotorAuthority, Volvo is also considering using the same version of its Scalable Product Architecture that underpins the crossover to create a range-topping S90 sedan to replace the S80. Assuming it's a success, a C90 coupe is even a possibility. All of these models would be outfitted with the company's Drive-E four-cylinder engine family, which includes hybrids and plug-in hybrids.
The Swedish automaker is also looking downmarket with help from owner Geely in China with replacement 40-series models. According to MotorAuthority, the duo's rumored small car platform will be used to create an updated V40 wagon, C40 hatchback (a C30 successor), as well as an XC40 compact crossover.
Volvo details new drive assist features for next XC90 and future models [w/video]
Mon, 08 Jul 2013Volvo wants us to know what kinds of new technology will be under the sheetmetal of the offerings that will sit on its Scalable Platform Architecture, the first of which will be included on the 2015 Volvo XC90 arriving at the end of next year. The silicon-chip onslaught starts with detection and auto braking for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. The company's animal detection tech now works at night thanks to better cameras and exposure controls.
Also due for the high-riding wagon are road edge and barrier detection with steer assist, a setup that identifies the edge of the road - even ones without markings. The system can steer the car back into its lane if it detects the driver is about to leave the road or collide with a barrier. Adaptive cruise control with steer assist allows the car to not only follow the flow of traffic on a straight road, but steer itself automatically.
Beyond that, the company is planning on other safety advances, but these will rely on automaker cooperation and infrastructure upgrades. Volvo has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Car 2 Car Communication Consortium on the subject of standards for communication between cars and wants to have it implemented by 2016. Sensors in traffic lights will enable Green Light Optimum Speed Advisory, which tells a driver how fast to go on a give stretch of road so as not to hit a red light. Weather, road condition, road works and emergency vehicle warnings will also inform drivers of new developments on the road. And autonomous parking, which Volvo has already demonstrated, stands to put a lot of valets out of work since it allows the car to find its own parking space without a driver inside.
