2002 Volvo V70 X/c Wagon 4-door 2.4l Needs Work Mechanics Special on 2040-cars
Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States
***Must be towed** I purchased this vehicle on ebay recently and it had very poor description and pictures in the auction therefore I have decided not to keep it. I will attempt to list all known issues with the car but I have not been able to road test it so it is being sold as is. I will list the issues below. This car would make a good project car for someone with the time. ***Must be towed***
1. The Transmission has a severe slip/flare sometimes. These AW55/50SN transmissions are famous valve body issues so at a minimum it needs a valve body repair and worst case it needs a new transmission. The fluid is pretty clean so if you're lucky a valve body repair will fix it. ***This car will have to towed it cannot be driven any distance**** 2. DIM Drivers Information Module: Basically the gauge cluster will not work common failure on these cars and an easy fix for someone with knowledge on them otherwise you can send it out to be repaired for about $300 3. Dent on the drivers side doors (please see pictures) 4. Cracked passenger mirror frame (still functional) 5. Small Clear coat failure on passenger rear door 6. Few smaller dents (Pictured) 7. Some kind of paint on a few places on the trim As far as I can tell everything else is functional and it starts and runs very well and the timing belt looks ok. $200 deposit within 48hours of auction end balance due and car must be picked up within 10 days |

Volvo 850 T5 R pickup conversion is ready for a cool yule
Mon, 10 Dec 2012There are plenty of ways to get your holiday tree home from the farm, but few are so classy as this Volvo 850 ute. Built in Sweden and shipped to Belgium, the car wears all of the necessary kit to pass as a 850R, and with a turbocharged 2.3-liter five cylinder under the hood, this creation should have no trouble dashing through the snow. Looks like a mighty fine use of an otherwise derelict Volvo wagon to us, though we have to imagine all that torque steer and no weight over the aft would make for all sorts of silliness once the roads went slick.
Still, if it were our Sawzall, we'd be happier with the keys to a certain BMW M5 utility in our pocket. Or, you know, the 3 Series conversion BMW whipped up not too long ago. You can head over to Autofans.be for a closer look at the 850 ute.
Volvo Cars picks Ember Technologies chief Jim Rowan as new CEO
Tue, Jan 4 2022Jim Rowan (Reuters) Â STOCKHOLM — Volvo Car Group has appointed Jim Rowan as new chief executive to succeed longtime CEO Hakan Samuelsson in March, it said on Tuesday. Rowan, currently CEO at U.S-based Ember Technologies, is taking over just months after Volvo wrapped up its initial public offering, the biggest in Europe last year. He will face the task of steering the carmaker towards its goal to sell 50% pure electric cars by the middle of this decade and electric cars only by 2030. "Volvo Cars is going through a rapid transformation of digitalization, which is why we wanted to bring in someone with global CEO experience from outside the automotive industry," Volvo Chairperson Eric Li said in a statement. Samuelsson joined Volvo's board in 2010 and has been CEO for almost 10 years, with his contract coming to an end this year. Before joining Ember in 2021, Rowan had been CEO of Dyson. Volvo, majority owned by China's Geely Holding, said Samuelsson will stay in his role until Rowan starts in March. Samuelsson will also leave the board, while continuing as chairman of electric vehicle maker Polestar. Polestar, in which Volvo owns 49%, aims to go public through a reverse merger with special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Gores Guggenheim. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2022. Â
