Welcome to my no reserve auction for my 2001 Volvo V70 XC. I've had this car for about a year and bought it to repair and use as my main car. I'm having a baby which has changed my time and financial priorities away from this vehicle, so now it's for sale. Most of the nice features are functional, aside from those listed. The AC blows cold, heater is warm. The bulbs in the headlight control panel and climate control unit were replaced with blue and/or red LED bulbs. I believe this was tastefully done and does not take away from the driving experience. Heated/power seats work great. Dual climate control is awesome. Power windows work with auto up/down functioning appropriately. The floor mats are aftermarket but look good. There is also a matching mat for the rear hatch compartment, which is in the pictures. The rear seats can fold completely flat. Also included is the rear cargo cover. The windows are tinted and should be legal in most states. One window has a poor tint job. Cosmetic imperfections were photographed. The driver's side fog light is broken. All imperfections were photographed and described to the best of my ability, but there may be other minor ones not shown here due to the nature of a high mileage car. The glove box stop is broken, so it swings wide open. The auto dim mirror is permanently dimmed, reducing visibility. The transmission has serious shifting issues, ranging from flaring between shifts to very hard up and downshifts. Sometimes,  it shifts well. The check engine light is on for the transmission solenoid (2-3 If I'm not mistaken.) The engine has not really given me any issues, but does make a hissing sound when under load. It burns a quart of oil every few tanks of gas, more when driven hard.  The suspension is worn out and needs replacement and the car does vibrate when driving. The AWD system works. Two sets of keys are included. Clean title. Radio works, No CD function though .Brakes are very strong and smooth. ABS works. The car has recently received a new upper (polyeurethane [pictured]) and lower (factory spec) transmission mounts. Spark plugs were changed around 10k miles ago. The serpentine belt (pictured) seems to be quite new, and the timing belt was inspected (by me) and appears to have been serviced recently, but I cannot officially say that these belts were changed because I have no proof. I will update this listing with any other known issues, as I am trying to give a complete picture to the buyer. The bottom line is that the car needs TLC, maybe a powertrain swap, but has been driven by me for approximately 10,000 miles with no apparent worsening of the conditions listed. That being said, there are no warranties or promises associated with the sale of this vehicle. Please ask any questions before bidding. Due to my job, I am not always in town and may require some patience from the buyer to complete the transaction. If buyer arranges shipping, This shouldn't be an issue.

Volvo EX90 exterior teased further, goes heavy on glass and aero

Wed, Nov 2 2022

How about six more teasers of the battery-electric, seven-seat Volvo EX90 SUV? We've heard about the new interior materials, seen renderings of the minimalist instrument panel and read about a massive commitment to safety inside and outside the SUV. Now we have scraps about what it took to put everything together within the aesthetic Volvo sought and a mission statement of "confident, sophisticated, and seamless." The rounder grille-less front fascia flows over the hood to a greenhouse heavy on flush glass. A large, tinted panoramic glass roof lets in just enough light without superheating the cabin and without robbing headroom. The side glazing is flush with the pillars and nearly flush with the sides of the car to improve aerodynamic efficiency. Flush door handles emerge as the keyholder approaches. Volvo says the EX90 posts a drag coefficient of 0.29, a figure that compares to 0.26 for the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and 0.24 for the Tesla Model X that, admittedly, offers tiny optional third-row seats. Speaking with Motor Trend, lead Volvo exterior designer T. Jon Mayer said the other side of letting lots of light in the cabin is creating an inviting atmosphere when there's lots of dark in the cabin. "We’ve put a lot of effort into the illumination inside the EX90, trying to create a warm interior and a somewhat colder expression for the exterior," he said, making an analogy with the Swedish climate and Swedish people.  The Lidar sensor plays its part in a new level of safety and in aerodynamics. Placed at the leading edge of the roof, the Luminar sensor sits under a teardrop-shaped glass enclosure about 18 inches wide, under two inches tall. The laser system comes standard, helping provide 360-degree awareness so that the EX90 can always pay attention and take appropriate safe actions at those times when the driver isn't paying attention. Volvo says that tying exterior sensor safety logic to in-cabin cameras that can tell if a driver is focused on the task "can reduce the risk of death or serious injury by up to 20%." We've just seven days to go until Volvo mandarins gather in Stockholm to reveal the car to launch the automaker's next phase. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Honda, Volvo, Lincoln are North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year

Mon, Jan 15 2018

The Detroit Auto Show has officially kicked off, as it always does, with the announcement of the North American Car, Utility Vehicle and Truck of the Year winners. For 2018, those are the Honda Accord, Volvo XC60 and Lincoln Navigator, respectively. The Honda Accord beat out two other finalists, the Toyota Camry and the new Kia Stinger. The Accord stood out for its styling, drivability and standard equipment. The Volvo XC60 came out ahead of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Honda Odyssey minivan. It was chosen for its luxury, ride and value when equipped well. The Lincoln Navigator, a heavily updated model that remained true to the concept car on which it was based, beat the Ford Expedition, as well as the only pickup in the list, the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 (which was a finalist for Autoblog's own Technology of the Year Award). NACTOY juror Ron Sessions complimented the "more dramatic update" compared to the Expedition. "With its design now aligned with the Continental, the Navigator becomes an even more important image — and the profit-maker for Lincoln," he said. The NACTOY Awards have been around since 1994. A panel of 60 judges, all automotive journalists, whittle the list down to three finalists in each category before announcing the winners in January. The Utility Vehicle category was added for 2017. Junkyard Gem: 1997 Volvo V90

Tue, Jul 6 2021

Volvo's "Brick Era" of squared-off rear-wheel-drive machines lasted from the debut of the 144 in 1966 all the way through the 900 Series cars of the 1990s, with the wildly successful 240 being the most iconic of the breed on our shores. The final chapter of the Swedish Brick saga came in the 1997 and 1998 model years, when the 960 sedan and wagon were rebadged as the S90 and V90, respectively. Here's one of those cars, a refrigerator-colored (and refrigerator-shaped) V90 wagon that got forcibly retired after a crash in Northern California. Volvo revived the V90 name in 2016, and you can buy a new V90 right now if you so choose. Today's Junkyard Gem, however, is the culmination of four decades of improvement to the original 140 design (itself based on much of the Amazon's chassis features and sharing plenty of components with the 1940s-era PV Series cars), while the current V90 comes straight out of the 21st century. I've been going out of my way to document just about every discarded 140 and 240 wagon I find, with some 740s and 940s mixed in. Many Volvo longroof owners still maintain a fanatical devotion to the rear-wheel-drive bricks, and I've found some of these cars in junkyards with impressively high final odometer readings. The fuel-efficiency and interior-space limitations of the old-timey brick design kept 960 sales lower than those of their predecessors, though, and I haven't met any 960 owners who share the level of devotion that 145 and 245 owners lavish on their cars. This car just squeaked past 150,000 miles during its 24 years on the road. The body and interior look to have been in very nice condition, showing that meticulous owners took good care of this car throughout its life, but then it got T-boned on the right side. This sort of damage isn't worth fixing on a quarter-century-old European wagon, and so here it sits. This engine compartment looks very similar to that of the old 240, though this modern 3.0-liter, DOHC straight-six and its 181 horses runs counter to the super-sensible spirit of most of those 1970s Goteborg bricks. The 960 was far more plush than its ancestors, and priced accordingly. In 1997, this car's list price started at $35,850 (about $60,660 in 2021 dollars). By comparison, a new 1975 245 wagon had an MSRP of $5,795 (about $29,940 today).
