It will move around the parking lot and may even go for a while and then it will get stuck in neutral. I just don't have the money to get it fixed. It has been a wonderful car but I am on a fixed income. I live in a rural area where there are just not a lot of people who know how to deal with this. So I decided to cut my loses and see if someone wanted a good car who could see what is wrong with the transmission. If you want a good car that needs some work or if you wanted to sell it in parts, Which I would do if I wasn't a old lady with no tools or no how. Then this car would be a real buy for you. I put a lot of money into this car, even bought a second key for it. This is a good car, but not for a person with my size pocket book! Still living and learning."

Volvo's are good cars and when I bought this car second hand I went and bought another key and had the maintenance done.  Since then I put a new radiator in it, and JUST, AND I MEAN JUST, bought 4 brand new tires. Then with no warning it just started going into neutral and would not move,(there was never no sign of transmission trouble before this).  It will move now, and you can drive it around the parking lot.  I did have the transmission fluid done and a new filter.  Because I live in a rural area finding someone who knows Volvo's is a problem.  So I decided to cut my loses and just sell her.  I am on a fixed income and I concluded this is what is best for me.  If I was closer to a city, or if I wasn't old  , I would either fix her or just take her apart piece by piece and sell the parts on ebay (if I had the know how I would do this). The new tires and rims alone would bring you back most of your money.  I don't know what else to do.  One of my problems is that this is a rural area and I have the wrong car in the wrong place.  I also just started having problems with the windows but that is minor and That I can fix.  I am not a dealer just an older women with a problem and selling it is all I can think of.  Thank you for looking and good luck bidding.

Oh, by the way, I do reserve the right to sell it locally.   If you have any questions please contact me I would be more then glad to answer or send you a phone number to call me.
P.S. air conditioning works great also and the radio is the best.

Car subscription services: A slow, expensive start — but the potential is huge

Wed, Dec 26 2018

Americans are used to paying for subscriptions — to magazines and cable television, for instance — but experience shows they'll cancel when the price of admission gets too high, or there are more tempting alternatives. Cord cutters ditched nearly 1.5 million pay-TV subscriptions in 2017, according to a survey by Leichtman Research Group. Cable TV started out cheap with basic offerings, and then got expensive. The auto industry's subscription offerings are new, but they're starting out costly, and not price-competitive with traditional leasing. The upside is that they take the hassle out of car ownership for busy people by letting the service take care of maintenance, insurance, licensing and taxes. And they give consumers choice, often allowing relatively painless switches between different cars in the automakers' lineup. Subscription services also point the way toward an ownership-free auto experience, and offer an easy transition to a potential world where ride- and car-sharing will be dominant. Subscriptions are here to stay, but consumers may take a while to "get" them. Lincoln's subscription service for lightly used 2015 to 2017 models, offered through the Ford-owned Canvas beginning this year, got off to a slow start. Many early subscribers canceled. Last month, Cadillac announced it would " temporarily pause" its $1,800-per-month Book subscription service for "adjustments" as of December 1. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Snags with the back-end technology used to support the service made some customer-service functions tedious and time-consuming, adding costs for the company." The challenge for automakers is to come up with a strategy that offers consumers a compelling, affordable option to regular ownership, and one that can also make a profit. I think they'll find that sweet spot, but they're not there yet. Jack Nerad, former executive editorial director at Kelley Blue Book and author of " The Complete Idiot's Guide to Buying or Leasing a Car," points out that "A lot of people expected that subscriptions would be very valuable for people who wanted inexpensive transportation, but the reality is quite the opposite. Subscriptions are offering more choices for the wealthy.

How many other cars does it take to kill a Volvo?

Thu, 27 Dec 2012

We all know how safe Volvo cars are, but a European junkyard has decided to put it to the test by crashing, jumping and rolling the life out of an 850 wagon. While government tests use automated systems to crash new cars, the guys in this video do so with a driver behind the wheel. Aside from what looks like a safety harness and roll bar for the driver, it seems like this car is otherwise bone stock.
Not wanting to spoil the fun for you, we'll just point out that at the start of the video, our hero car looks pretty flawless, and by the end, well, let's just say the Craigslist ad for the car would say "needs some body work." Check out the video below to watch some stunts that even the Duke Boys might shy away from.

Daimler and Volvo plan hydrogen fuel cell truck production in 2025

Thu, Apr 29 2021

LONDON — Daimler's truck unit and Volvo said on Thursday they would start making hydrogen fuel cells in Europe in 2025 via a joint venture, and called for EU policies to help make the zero-emission technology commercially viable. The rival German and Swedish makers of large freight-hauling trucks formed their venture, Cellcentric, in March. They said they would provide more details on large-scale fuel production in 2022, but said Cellcentric was already scaling up prototype output. "Partnerships like Cellcentric are vital to our commitment to decarbonizing road transport," Volvo Chief Executive Martin Lundstedt said in a statement. Aside from the fuel-cell joint venture, the two companies remain competitors. Both hope to test fuel-cell trucks in about three years and start mass producing trucks in the second half of this decade. The European Union has been pushing tighter emission standards, fueling a boom in zero-emission electric cars. But batteries in electric vehicles are very heavy, and hydrogen fuel cells are seen as a potentially more viable zero-emission power systems for long-haul freight in the future. Fuel cells produce electricity from hydrogen, emitting only water. The two truck makers called for the construction of around 300 hydrogen refueling stations suitable for heavy-duty vehicles in Europe by 2025 and about 1,000 stations by 2030. During a video conference with the two firms, European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean said the commission would this summer propose a revised alternative fuels directive. She said this "will include binding requirements for rolling out hydrogen fueling infrastructure ... and financial support will be available where needed." Automaker Stellantis said this year it would begin deliveries in Europe of its first medium-sized vans powered by hydrogen fuel cells by the end of 2021. Stellantis said at the time that Germany had 90 hydrogen stations and France had 25 — a tiny fraction of the thousands of petrol stations available for fossil-fuel vehicles today. As zero-emission trucks are significantly more expensive than fossil-fuel models, Daimler and Volvo said a "policy framework is needed to ensure demand and affordability." The two companies said policies should include subsidies for "CO2-neutral technologies and a taxation system based on carbon and energy content."
