New Volvo ad remembers the joy of rear-facing jump seats

With the rise in popularity of first the minivan and later the crossover as the default family vehicle, there have been about 20 years of children who have missed out on the joy of rear-facing jump seats in station wagons. It means kids today don't know the pleasure to be found in making faces or lewd gestures at other drivers while their parents can't see. Plus, they don't know the slightly nauseous feeling of watching the world pass by in reverse. However, a group of filmmakers look back with nostalgia at this increasingly uncommon automotive feature in a new ad for the 2015 Volvo V60.
As part of its sponsorship of the National Film Festival for Talented Youth, Volvo commissions a team each year to create an advertisement to be shown during the festival. This year's shows how the company's buyers have gone from riding in the back to driving the brand's cars. Volvo will start testing wireless charging with XC40 taxis

Volvo announced it will start testing wireless charging systems with its Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUVs. It's doing so by creating a small fleet of XC40 Recharge taxis for Cabonline, the largest cab operation in the Nordic nations. The testing in Volvo's hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden, will last for three years, and Volvo notes that the driving conditions will involve 12 hours a day of driving with cars racking up 100,000 kilometers (about 62,000 miles) per year. The charging stations come from American company Momentum Dynamics. They're embedded into the pavement of the Volvos' parking spaces and begin charging automatically when parked correctly (which is aided by the on-board surround-view camera). The charging speed is 40-kW, which is close to the maximum charging speed of many electric cars' on-board chargers when connected to a DC station. Interestingly, Momentum Dynamics lists systems capable of charging speeds as high as 450 kW on its website. Volvo did not make any announcements regarding future availability of wireless charging. Volvo calls in S60 T5 over oil pressure indicator

As anyone with a driver's license should be able to tell you, the oil pressure indicator on a car is a vital feature. If you don't have enough oil pressure, your engine could seize up, leaving you stranded and causing catastrophic damage for both your automobile and your wallet. Worryingly, then, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the oil pressure indicator lamp on certain Volvo S60 models is prone to failure, prompting the manufacturer to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to MY2011-2012 Volvo S60s with turbocharged five-cylinder engines manufactured between June 22, 2010 and May 14, 2012. All told, precisely 30,929 units are affected by the recall campaign. The owners of affected models will be notified by Volvo to bring in their cars to their local dealer for a software update.
