2004 Volvo S40 T5 Sedan 4-door 2.5l on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
I'm selling my 2004 Volvo S40 T5 because I'm moving across the country and can't bring it with me. This is such a fun car that just needs a little TLC. I bought it in Kansas in 2010 and used it mainly for commuting to/from work. It's a perfect car for summer time drives with the sunroof open.
Condition The car is good condition overall but needs a few repairs. The body is excellent condition, no major dings or scratches. The leather seats were just cleaned and conditioned, there are no tears/rips in any of the seats. New shocks/struts: About a month ago, the front end started making noises when going over bumps/uneven surfaces so I recently took it to PepBoys and a nearby Volvo dealership for diagnostics checks. They said that all four struts and shocks need to be replaced. I haven't driven it since then because I rely on my bike in the summer. Catalytic converter: The Volvo dealership recommended replacing the catalytic converter, which is causing the check engine light to be on. Power locks: Rear passenger door doesn't lock/unlock with the power locks or remote key. The power windows work and it opens/shuts fine but the power lock doesn't work. You can unlock the door by pulling the door handle and lock the door by pushing the lock down. Features - Leather seats - Heated seats for those cold Chicago winters - CD player - Power seats - Power locks - Power windows - Cold AC - Cruise Control - Sunroof Shipping/payment Buyer pays all shipping. Also available for local pickup in Chicago, IL. Money Order/Cashiers check, Paypal accepted. |

Volvo Trucks makes some pretty strong brakes
Mon, 05 May 2014Often dashcam footage from Russia shows some of the worst driving imaginable, but this is an exception. The Volvo truck driver in this video definitely earned himself a drink or two at the end of the day after making it through this potentially horrific crash. As do the folks at Volvo that engineered those brakes.
The truck driver shows some fantastic reaction time as the silver hatchback suddenly pulls out of an intersection. It looks like he only has a few yards to bring the behemoth to a stop before demolishing the little car. While it's an impressive feat, the best part of the video has to be the driver's bow when he gets out of the truck. He looks like a maestro who just finished conducting a symphony asking for a round of applause.
Scroll down to check out this truck driver's skills and see if he earns his bow afterward.
Volvo V40 Cross Country gets the all-wheel drive it deserves
Mon, 29 Sep 2014Want a rugged Volvo wagon? Gothenburg has two kinds to offer: there's the XC crossovers on the one hand and ruggedized wagons on the other. As we reported last month from the unveiling of the new XC90 in Sweden, Volvo plans on offering more Cross Country wagons in the future. But in the meantime, it has upgraded the existing V40 Cross Country with some key enhancements - not the least of which is the long-awaited addition of all-wheel drive.
Powertrain upgrades for Volvo's smallest soft-roader include the new T5 engine (a 1.7-liter turbo four producing 245 horsepower), an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The new powertrain is not only more capable, but also more environmentally friendly than the old T5 it replaces.
The enhanced V40 Cross Country launches in Europe mid-fall before being rolled out in other markets in the following months, but unfortunately the United States is not among them as the V40 is not offered Stateside in any configuration, which is a shame.
Volvo offers up more details on 2015 XC90 and its new infotainment system
Tue, 03 Jun 2014We have more details on the 2015 Volvo XC90 and the all-new, touch-heavy infotainment system that will debut with it. An expansion of the Sensus system, as we've shown you before, we now know the new system won't only sport a large, vertically oriented touchscreen, but a head-up display and the ability to manage the systems via wheel-mounted buttons.
Key to the entire experience are the large, portrait-oriented touchscreen, a head-up display and the thumb controls you can see on the face of the steering wheel in the image above. Volvo is claiming that this combination will be easier to use and, fittingly for the Swedish manufacturer, safer.
"Using the screen is so logical that it will become part of your muscle memory very quickly," said Dr. Peter Mertens, Volvo's senior vice president of research and development. "Information, navigation and media are high up and easy to check. The phone controls, application icons and climate controls are located low, comfortable to reach and touch. All of this logic is based on extensive usability and user experience research and the latest technology."
