2004 Volvo C70 Convertible- Rare Color, Dealer Maintained Priced For Fast Sale! on 2040-cars
Charlottesville, Virginia, United States
Just in time for spring- This is THE convertible bargain on Ebay! I've just dropped the price over $1,000 to get it sold this week.
I have a small collection of classic cars (primarily Volvo's and Saab's) and after a buying spree over the winter I am forced to thin the herd by a few cars now that spring is here. I just sold one of my Saabs earlier this week and now we need to sell this cream puff to buy our son his first car- preferably an older wagon/SUV. I purchased this beautiful convertible from a dealer in Pennsylvania that specializes in high end Volvo's. What attracted me to the car- and what the new owner will find most exciting- is the unique color combination that was only available in 2004 (Sky blue metallic over linen/taupe interior). This Volvo was special ordered from the factory and picked up in Sweden in 2004 by the original owner. Completing the interior is the unique teak style dash wood inlays that extends to the console and shifter. From the condition I can only assume this car has always been garaged, as it is now. The navy canvas top- 2004 was the last of the canvas top convertibles for Volvo- is in excellent condition- see photos. The original owner and second owner before me had virtually all service done by the dealer (Volvo of Ft. Washington, Pa). I called that dealer after I purchased the car and they had 48 service records on file including records for a recent timing belt change. For privacy reason, the dealer I bought the car from would not include hard copies of the service records, but if you give the dealer the Vin# they have all records on their computer. While the pictures tell the story- there are small nicks, scratches etc typical of a 10 year old car...but you can see how beautiful the paint still shines- The Carfax shows a minor accident in 2010 which I believe included the plastic airdam underneath the front bumper where the fog lights were removed. The interior is very clean. The car has had an oil/filter change less than 3,000 miles ago and I had the transmission flushed and changed at the Volvo dealer here in Virginia in December. The car has a December 2014 Virginia state inspection decal and I had a Volvo dealer do the inspection. New tie rods were installed to pass inspection. There are 4 matching Continental tires (over 80% tread remaining) mounted on very rare Volvo 17 inch "Arrakis" wheels- an unusual sight on a C70. Unused spare and all tools included as shown in photos. The a/c is charged and blows cold. All original Volvo books are included. I have just one key and no alarm fob. Issues that I know of: *one of the rear window switches occasionally sticks but all four windows go up and down when the convertible top is opened and closed * the hood latch occasionally sticks- I've heard this is a common problem on this model. I had the dealer realign the hood latch in Dec. *there is a small dent right over the passenger side wheel well which can be seen (barely) in the photographs *I had occassional transmission lag between 2nd and 3rd which seems to have been rectified with new upper and lower torque arms just installed by the dealer two weeks ago. *the headlight washer hose on one headlight wiper needs to be fixed. Honestly- can anyone tell me why these exist?? This outstanding Volvo C70 convertible is 10 years old but looks nearly new. It is being sold "as-is" with no warranty given or implied. I also have the car for sale locally so the auction may be ended early for a local buyer. All emailed questions will be answered promptly. |

Volvo aligning model range into three families
Thu, 28 Aug 2014Things have been slow in Gothenburg the past few years, but they're picking up speed. The only new model Volvo has released in the past four years since it was taken over by Geely - that being the V40 introduced in 2012 - started its development when the company was still under Ford's umbrella. But now the Swedish automaker is preparing to launch a volley of new models, and the new XC90 is only the starting point.
Volvo has set out to align its product portfolio into three model families - 40, 60 and 90 - each with three body-styles: sedan, wagon and crossover. (Volvo presented a tidy little table, which we've replicated below, to outline what it has in store.) That means a new S40 sedan and XC40 crossover as well as a replacement for the current V40 wagon, all to be based on a new platform shared with Geely. It also means replacements for the current S60, V60 and XC60 to be based on the modular SPA platform that underpins the new XC90, as well as a new S90 sedan to replace the S80 and a new V90 wagon to succeed the V70 and move it up-market above the V60.
All of these models are set to arrive within the next four years as Volvo moves to replace its entire lineup by 2019 and subsequently move to more competitive seven-to-eight-year product life-cycles. But as aggressively as Volvo is pursuing this renewal of its core models, they're not the only things Gothenburg has in store. Keep reading below to learn how Volvo's model line will flesh out over the coming years.
Volvo XC90 Coasting Transmission Deep Dive | How, when and why of coasting
Thu, Mar 25 2021In our recent 2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge review, its turbocharged-supercharged-hybridized powertrain delivered impressive horsepower and fuel economy. But Volvo has one additional trick up its sleeve, propelling a car with power that's simpler, cheaper and all-natural: It's the power of momentum and gravity. I've always been halfway to a hypermiler. I'm not obsessive about it, but in city driving, I enjoy timing stoplight approaches to keep the wheels rolling and avoid the inertia of restarting from a stop. There's little point to needlessly racing and braking between red lights, wasting kinetic energy (and therefore fuel). So I tend to drive strategically instead, often catching up with the drivers who jackrabbit but get hung up at the lights. And, back when I owned a long line of vehicles with manual transmissions, I coasted. Coasting used to be slightly controversial. Some claimed it doesn't actually save gas, though my mileage calculations showed otherwise. Another school of thought insisted that removing engine braking from the equation, even momentarily, constitutes a dangerous loss of control. Of course, an experienced driver can slip a manual transmission back into gear in a flash when engine braking's actually needed. And one should always use some common sense and judgment about when and where to coast. I'm not talking about careening down a 15% grade into a school zone. Anyway, those arguments became moot when automatic transmissions pretty much took over. (And no, never coast with a typical automatic transmission. Even if it weren't damaging to your type of automatic — but assume that it is — the risk of screwing up a nudge of the shifter from drive into neutral is too great.) XC90 Recharge 8 View 18 Photos But happily, some automakers in recent years have added a coasting feature to their automatics, with the aim of eking out more fuel efficiency. Volvo calls the feature on its Aisin eight-speed "Eco Coast." Some Mercedes, BMWs and others call it "sailing" or "gliding." The Hyundai Ioniq, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Polestar 2 are among EVs that allow you to cancel out all regeneration and freewheel downhill. And future cars such as the BMW iX are also being designed to do it. By building coasting into the clockworks, automakers have taken any traffic safety concerns out of the question, because the car will instantly switch you back into gear when needed.
Chip maker Nvidia adds Volvo to list of self-driving partners
Tue, Jun 27 2017Chipmaker Nvidia Corp announced on Monday it was partnering with Volvo Cars and Swedish auto supplier Autoliv to develop self-driving car technology for vehicles due to hit the market by 2021. Volvo is owned by China's Geely Automobile Holdings. Silicon Valley-based Nvidia also announced a non-exclusive partnership with German automotive suppliers ZF and Hella for artificial intelligence technology for autonomous driving. Nvidia came to prominence in the gaming industry for designing graphics processing chips, but in recent years has been a key player in the automotive sector for providing the so-called "brain" of the autonomous vehicle. The company, whose many partners already include Tesla, Toyota, Ford, Audi, BMW, and tier one supplier Robert Bosch, announced its latest deals at an automotive electronics show in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Nvidia's Drive PX artificial intelligence platform is used by Tesla in its Models S and X and upcoming Model 3 electric vehicles. Volkswagen AG's Audi is also using the system to reach full autonomous driving by 2020. In a call with reporters, Nvidia's senior automotive director Danny Shapiro said carmakers and their main suppliers are now moving away from the research and development phase of autonomous vehicles and into concrete production plans. The system developed jointly by ZF and Hella, and using Nvidia's Drive PX platform, will combine front cameras with radar and software to create technology meeting the Euro NCAP safety certification for so-called "Level 3" driving, in which some, but not all, driving is performed by the car. Volvo is already using the Drive PX for the self-driving cars in its "Drive Me" autonomous pilot program. Volvo's production vehicles built on Nvidia's platform, as announced on Monday, are planned for sale by 2021.Reporting By Alexandria SageRelated Video: Auto News Green Tesla Toyota Volvo Technology Emerging Technologies Autonomous Vehicles nvidia autoliv
