2012 Volvo C30 R-resign, Low Miles W/ Polestar Upgrade Silver Leather Interior on 2040-cars
Glendale, California, United States
This is a 2012 Volvo C30 R-Design in electric silver metallic with the two-tone leather/Flextech upholstery in black and calcite colors. Absolutely gorgeous. It has 12,608 miles, has never been in an accident, and I have treated it very well. It has absolutely zero mechanical issues and drives like an absolute dream. The seats are extraordinarily comfortable, the driving position perfect, with excellent visibility.
I am selling because my family is growing and we need more room for kids. Very hard to let it go, because we adore the car. It has all the bells and whistles: R-design package with special wheels, tires, sport seats, interior accents, ground effects and body treatments, sport tuned suspension, dual sport exhaust system, floormats, and more. Sirius Satellite Radio Power moonroof Bluetooth USB input Aux input A fantastic sounding stock stereo with steering-wheel mounted audio controls Tire pressure monitor Keyless entry and keyless starting Traction control Power driver and passenger seats with lumbar adjustments 6 speed auto with manual shifting Cruise control Automatic headlights with daytime running lights Airbags everywhere Power everything The Polestar upgrade cost me $1350 at the dealer. It is an engine control unit upgrade that Volvo offers. It provides 250 horsepower and 273 lb.- ft. of torque, up 23 and 37 respectively from stock . This upgrade was performed at the dealer where I purchased the car (Rusnak Volvo in Pasadena) and is fully warranted. A great thing about it is that it doesn't ding the fuel economy numbers at all. I was really happy with this upgrade, and noticed a difference right away when it was installed. This car is wonderfully powerful. It has a 3 inch scratch on the driver door, and edge of the front air dam has two scrapes on the bottom edge from parking or tall driveways that I went up. Apparently many C30 owners get these, and the bottom piece is replaceable if the cosmetics bother you. Otherwise, the car is immaculate, with zero issues and zero surprises. I have all the service records and have only taken it to the excellent service department at Rusnak since I purchased it new about a year and a half ago. I have kept it waxed and detailed all the time, and have likewise babied the interior with excellent leather conditioning and cleaning products that leave no residue or smell. The other little extra that it has is a ProClip mount for your smartphone. You need to purchase the secondary piece that is specific to your phone, but the mount is nice to have there and is specific to the C30. 3 day auction--if it doesn't sell I will be trading it in on wednesday. Local Pick-Up only. Cashiers check or cash within 3 days. |

Volvo XC90 Coasting Transmission Deep Dive | How, when and why of coasting
Thu, Mar 25 2021In our recent 2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge review, its turbocharged-supercharged-hybridized powertrain delivered impressive horsepower and fuel economy. But Volvo has one additional trick up its sleeve, propelling a car with power that's simpler, cheaper and all-natural: It's the power of momentum and gravity. I've always been halfway to a hypermiler. I'm not obsessive about it, but in city driving, I enjoy timing stoplight approaches to keep the wheels rolling and avoid the inertia of restarting from a stop. There's little point to needlessly racing and braking between red lights, wasting kinetic energy (and therefore fuel). So I tend to drive strategically instead, often catching up with the drivers who jackrabbit but get hung up at the lights. And, back when I owned a long line of vehicles with manual transmissions, I coasted. Coasting used to be slightly controversial. Some claimed it doesn't actually save gas, though my mileage calculations showed otherwise. Another school of thought insisted that removing engine braking from the equation, even momentarily, constitutes a dangerous loss of control. Of course, an experienced driver can slip a manual transmission back into gear in a flash when engine braking's actually needed. And one should always use some common sense and judgment about when and where to coast. I'm not talking about careening down a 15% grade into a school zone. Anyway, those arguments became moot when automatic transmissions pretty much took over. (And no, never coast with a typical automatic transmission. Even if it weren't damaging to your type of automatic — but assume that it is — the risk of screwing up a nudge of the shifter from drive into neutral is too great.) Volvo calls the feature on its Aisin eight-speed "Eco Coast." Some Mercedes, BMWs and others call it "sailing" or "gliding." The Hyundai Ioniq, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Polestar 2 are among EVs that allow you to cancel out all regeneration and freewheel downhill. And future cars such as the BMW iX are also being designed to do it. By building coasting into the clockworks, automakers have taken any traffic safety concerns out of the question, because the car will instantly switch you back into gear when needed.
2015 Volvo S60 T6 Drive-E
Wed, 23 Apr 2014For those not paying attention, Volvo has updated its S60 sedan range for 2015 with a new range of engines under the Drive-E label. Wearing the same T5 and T6 badges to note the relative levels of power under the hood, both engines are 2.0-liter four-cylinders, with the lesser being turbocharged and the greater being both supercharged and turbocharged.
Both Drive-E variants are currently only available in front-wheel-drive flavor, though Volvo will still happily sell you an S60 T5 AWD with the older 2.5-liter turbo five-cylinder, or a top-of-the-line S60 T6 with a turbo'd 3.0-liter six-cylinder and all the wheels turning.
The car I drove for a week is perhaps the most balanced version of the S60 range, with that exotic sounding twin-charged 2.0-liter mill planted happily in the attractively sloping nose. Provided you're not hung up on front-drive dynamics, the T6 Drive-E might be a solid candidate for your next premium small sedan shopping list, as well.
How the Chinese tycoon driving Volvo plans to tackle Tesla
Sun, Sep 5 2021HANGZHOU, China — "Do you know how big Volvo is?" asked Don Leclair, finance chief at Ford. It was 2008, and Leclair was responding to an offer from a little-known Chinese businessman to purchase the Swedish carmaker, which Ford owned. The businessman, Li Shufu, had a company with less than half Volvo's sales and a flagship model, King Kong, almost unknown outside China. He was politely shown the door of the "Glass House," Ford's iconic headquarters near Detroit, according to two people who were at the meeting. Ford's Leclair did not respond to requests for comment about the episode. Fast-forward to 2021 and Li Shufu's company, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, is one of the biggest-selling automakers in the world's biggest auto market. It controls not only Volvo Cars but also a clutch of global auto brands, and a significant stake in German giant Daimler AG, the maker of Mercedes-Benz. These names are now part of its plans for a revolution in autos. Geely is preparing Volvo for a listing on the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange as a route towards the future of transportation: One where cars are part of an electrified network of mobility services, driving themselves, connecting to each other and — like cellphones — generating an array of data and new business opportunities. It's a vision more Silicon Valley than Detroit, where traditional automakers globally are chasing another giant — Tesla Inc. Li Shufu and his advisers eventually convinced Ford to part with Volvo in 2010 for $1.8 billion. It was the first in a string of deals, tapping brands such as Lotus, Smart and the London Electric Vehicle Company to form a network that he calls a "bigger circle of friends" across industry segments. Li Shufu sees them as building blocks to help Geely compete in a future where autos are not vehicles, but "service providers," he told Reuters in his management suite at Geely's headquarters in Hangzhou, eastern China. In that business model, cars will be available on subscription and offer services such as making payments and in-car apps. They will update their own software, and spawn opportunities in the same way as the mobile operating systems developed by Apple Inc and Google. "We are trying to create an automotive ecosystem similar to Android," he said. Li Shufu, 58, recently adopted a foreign first name - Eric - because he liked the sound of it.
