2000 Volvo S70 Glt Se Sedan 4-door 2.4l - Excellent Condition on 2040-cars
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States
This is a used, red 2000 Volvo s70 GLT Special Edition - the car is in excellent condition. On June 25th, 2014 I had a complete used car check and analysis done by Peterson Volvo on Harmony and College in Fort Collins. The car passed every test with flying colors; the comprehensive used car report is attached above in the pictures. The car has only had three owners, one for only a year, the other two both from Northern Colorado. All maintenance since its purchase in 2001 has been done at the same Peterson Volvo. I have copies of every report.
Full vehicle report included - the car has only been in one minor accident. Someone backed into it and cracked a taillight. It has been fixed. The car has a turbo, custom rims, new year-round tires, new brakes, new brake discs, premium speakers, and seat warmers. Additionally, the car has a Winter Mode safe driving option - a feature which slows acceleration by starting the car in third gear. This reduces tire slippage in wet, icy, or snow-packed conditions. The average mileage of a used Volvo s70 is 150,000 miles - this car has 159,000. Compared to other similar models, this car looks and runs beautifully. On June 30th, the car was detailed inside and out. The exterior of the car, engine, and rims were cleaned/waxed. The carpet on the interior of the car was washed and the leather was cleaned and polished. In order to maintain this condition, the car is parked inside of a garage and will not be driven until sold. Vehicle specs: Engine: 5-cylinder, turbo, 2.4 liter, automatic Body Style: 4 door sedan Color: Red Custom rims and tires (new year-round tires) Anti-lock brakes (brake pads and discs are brand new) Winter Mode safety driving Garage door transmitter CD player, cassette, AM/FM radio Power windows, power locks, power seats Heated door mirrors Power moon roof Driver and passenger seat warmers Cruise control and power steering Air conditioning MPG total and current, miles of gas remaining, trip miles, average MPH gauge Feel free to use the provided contact information to get in touch with me if you have any questions about the car or would like check it out in person. |

Volvo's plan for China: sell them on the clean air inside the car
Thu, 24 Oct 2013Large Chinese cities aren't known for having clean air. Just this week, the Chinese city of Harbin filled with record levels of smog after starting the city's coal-fired heating system, according to CNN. But Li Shufu, the chairman of Geely, Volvo's parent company, says the automaker's astute attention to cabin comfort in areas such as air filtration is a selling point for the Swedish automaker in China, Forbes reports.
Shufu says when he is inside a Volvo, he feels like he's in Northern Europe, but when the door is opened, he feels like he's in Beijing. The chairman made the remarks at the fourth annual Global Auto Forum (GAF) in China (which also happened to be attended by Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford, which was Volvo's owner until 2010), where he emphasized Geely's hands-off approach to managing Volvo, saying, "Geely and Volvo are brothers, not father and son."
While good filtration contributes to cabin comfort, the way we see it, Shufu also is allowing Volvo to play to its most well-known strength: safety. Smog protection via air filtration might not seem like the most important safety feature for a car in the US (unless you live in Los Angeles), but when you consider that Harbin's level of fine particles was up to 30 times higher than the World Health Organization's recommended standard on Tuesday, we'd think twice about that. Fine particles, which are 2.5 micrometers in diameter or less, are considered to be the most harmful to health.
Volvo developing new three-cylinder engine family
Mon, 25 Aug 2014Pop the hood on a Volvo of recent vintage and you'll find four-, five-, six- and even eight-cylinder engines. But the Swedish automaker is downsizing its engines over the coming years. The new XC90, set to be revealed later this week, will use a new family of four-cylinder engines (like the one pictured above). But that's not even the end of it as emerging reports speak of a new three-cylinder engine family in the works.
The new 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine will, according to reports, help Volvo further cut its carbon emissions in line with constricting regulations in markets like Europe and Australia. There won't be quite as many versions as the four-cylinder range, which will include gasoline and diesel versions in varying states of tune, but the three-pot motor is tipped to be employed in vehicles as large as the S60 and its stablemates. Larger than that, however, and the three-cylinder engine apparently just doesn't have the necessary torque.
Expect the new three-cylinder engine to be introduced sometime later this decade, after the four-cylinder's introduction in 2016. The three-cylinder engine is also set to form the building block of an even more efficient hybrid propulsion system in the future, enabling this new engine family to stay relevant through 2025.
Volvo's latest export from Sweden: paid parental leave
Tue, Mar 30 2021STOCKHOLM — Volvo Cars will offer all its employees worldwide 24 weeks paid parental leave in a bid to support female executives and equal parenting. The carmaker, which is based in Sweden but owned by China's Geely Holding, has over 40,000 employees. From next month, all staff who have worked in Volvo plants and offices for at least a year will be entitled to the leave each time they have a child and will receive 80% of their base pay during the period, the company said on Tuesday. Sweden is one of few countries that already offers leave by law for either parent. "Some countries do not offer any paid leave to new parents, or exclude certain groups of parents – the latter is particularly true for fathers," the company, which previously did not have a global policy but adapted to local regulations, said in a statement. Around a third of Volvo's senior managers are currently female. The company aims to raise that share to 50%, a spokeswoman said, adding that Volvo's new policy will improve conditions for staff on parental leave not least in China and the United States. "When parents are supported to balance the demands of work and family, it helps to close the gender gap and allows everyone to excel in their careers," said Volvo Cars CEO Hakan Samuelsson. The global policy applies to either parent and the leave can be taken anytime within the first three years of parenthood. In Sweden, new parents are in general entitled by law to around a year of parental leave on up to 80% pay. Â
