I have a 1966 Volvo 122 S Amzon for sale. One of the coolest cars volvo ever made in my opinion. These cars rarely come up for sale and specially in this condition. This volvo is a california car that spent most of its life in the garage. This is a modified Amazon, however it retains its stock look until it flyes by you on the highway doing 90..oops This is the original color, color code 96 dark blue. Its an older repaint but it looks great,no fading. The chrome and stainless is in good condition, not perfect. The car is rust free, the rocker covers are clean, frame rails are solid. The front floor pans were changed years ago, rear ones are original and clean. All the doors open and close nicely. Original wheels with like new Kumho tires.Trunk and cargo area are clean, original floor jack and tires are included. The interior is very cool, reupholstered seats in dark blue, new door cards, new carpet and headliner. Seats are re stuffed and theyre very comfortable.Neat floor mounted heat/frsh air diffuser makes sure that the air is distributed evenly in the cabin.Seats 5 easily,or fold the rear seat and you have quite a large trunk. You can even sleep in there. The dash is modified in a very cool way.It holds quite a few vintage SW gauges that monitor your engine, very GT-ish.Only one gauge does not work, which would be the boost gauge.Previous owner wanted to turbo charge it,but never got around it. Really nice vintage Personal wooden steering wheel.Modern stereo head unit with top of the line speakers, sounds great, however I prefer to listen to the engine. Couple of toggle switches on the dash which activates the electronic overdrive and a couple of other things. The heater works, the lights work, turn signals work, horn works. Also cigarette lighter slot has power, very important so you can charge your phone or use the GPS. Now onto the fun things. The engine is a B20 with 24k miles on it.No leaks,no smoke runs very strong. New plugs and wires, fresh oil,new engine mounts, new belts,IPD finned valve cover. Bigger valves, single Weber carb, electronic ignition, remote oil filter and huge oil cooler just in front of the radiator. Re cored radiator with add on electrical fan for backup. Great brakes with updated brake booster.New shocks and bushings, the car feels tight. 4 speed transmission with electric overdrive, limited slip differential, new limiting straps, big sway bar kit from IPD. The car is a lot of fun to drive, brakes good, handles very good and its quick.Keeps up with modern traffic very easily. Faster than a prius, cooler then a civic.Lots of room to carry stuff or to go camping, surfing or canyon driving. As with any old cars there are imperfections such as the paint on the roof has a crack, front bumper has a scratch and the hood has a couple of paint chips.Hardly noticeable but its there. This would be an ideal daily driver or first car.Its cheap to maintain and its reliable. It has a clean california title. TERMS: Reserve the right to end auction at anytime, because the car is offered for sale locally as well. Buyer pays and handles shipping,I can help you connect with some good and affordable shipping companies. Car will not leave until payment has cleared, cash in person or bank to bank wire transfer. Volvo XC90 Coasting Transmission Deep Dive | How, when and why of coasting
Thu, Mar 25 2021In our recent 2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge review, its turbocharged-supercharged-hybridized powertrain delivered impressive horsepower and fuel economy. But Volvo has one additional trick up its sleeve, propelling a car with power that's simpler, cheaper and all-natural: It's the power of momentum and gravity. I've always been halfway to a hypermiler. I'm not obsessive about it, but in city driving, I enjoy timing stoplight approaches to keep the wheels rolling and avoid the inertia of restarting from a stop. There's little point to needlessly racing and braking between red lights, wasting kinetic energy (and therefore fuel). So I tend to drive strategically instead, often catching up with the drivers who jackrabbit but get hung up at the lights. And, back when I owned a long line of vehicles with manual transmissions, I coasted. Coasting used to be slightly controversial. Some claimed it doesn't actually save gas, though my mileage calculations showed otherwise. Another school of thought insisted that removing engine braking from the equation, even momentarily, constitutes a dangerous loss of control. Of course, an experienced driver can slip a manual transmission back into gear in a flash when engine braking's actually needed. And one should always use some common sense and judgment about when and where to coast. I'm not talking about careening down a 15% grade into a school zone. Anyway, those arguments became moot when automatic transmissions pretty much took over. (And no, never coast with a typical automatic transmission. Even if it weren't damaging to your type of automatic — but assume that it is — the risk of screwing up a nudge of the shifter from drive into neutral is too great.) Volvo calls the feature on its Aisin eight-speed "Eco Coast." Some Mercedes, BMWs and others call it "sailing" or "gliding." The Hyundai Ioniq, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Polestar 2 are among EVs that allow you to cancel out all regeneration and freewheel downhill. And future cars such as the BMW iX are also being designed to do it. By building coasting into the clockworks, automakers have taken any traffic safety concerns out of the question, because the car will instantly switch you back into gear when needed.
Volvo sets high carbon price to assess sustainability of new projects
Wed, Nov 10 2021GLASGOW — Swedish automaker Volvo said on Wednesday it had set a price on carbon emissions from its operations of 1,000 Swedish crowns ($116.30) a tonne, part of attempts to ensure all future projects are sustainable. Announcing the move at global climate talks in Scotland as it joined an imitative to phase out fossil fuel cars and vans, the company said it had deliberately set a relatively high price to "future proof" itself. Negotiators at the COP26 talks are trying to finish rules to create an international carbon market. Put simply, it would allow some countries to pay others to cut emissions — with the aim of pushing much-needed cash into green projects around the world. Volvo said it was the first automaker to set such a price across its whole operations, as part of its aim to be a climate neutral company by 2040. The price is double the current cost of carbon in the European Union's carbon trading scheme. Going forward, every new car project would go through a "sustainability sense-check", with a carbon price assigned throughout the life of the vehicle, to ensure it would be profitable even under a much higher government-set price. “A global and fair price on CO2 is critical for the world to meet its climate ambitions, and we all need to do more,” Bjorn Annwall, chief financial officer, said in a statement. “We strongly believe progressive companies should take the lead by setting an internal carbon price. By evaluating future cars on their CO2-adjusted profitability, we expect to accelerate actions that will help us identify and reduce carbon emissions already today.” Also on Wednesday, Volvo signed up to the Glasgow Declaration on Zero Emission Cars and Vans, along with peers including Ford and General Motors, aiming to end production of internal combustion engines by 2040. 2015 Volvo XC90 proves Sweden's auto industry is alive and well [w/video]
Fri, 03 Oct 2014The most important new Volvo in quite some time has made its first auto show appearance, with the second-generation XC90 debuting at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
As we discussed in both our original post and Deep Dive feature, the new XC90 remains a three-row crossover for 2015, although it ditches the first-gen model's top-end, turbocharged six-cylinder in favor of a single twin-charged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. By pairing that with a plug-in-electric powertrain, the king of the XC90 range, the T8 TwinEngine, will offer up 400 horsepower. So yeah, performance should be brisk.
Also appearing on 2015 XC90 will be an entirely new, Apple CarPlay-compatible infotainment system with a big, vertical touchscreen display at its heart. Based on the videos we've seen, the new system looks responsive, feature-laden and quite attractive.
